And I am wondering, do upgrades like sniper rifles, assault rifles, pistols etc. have an impact on who survives and who doesn't? Just wondering, because I didn't find all the upgrades.

And ME2 fooled me good, right off the bat...when the Normandy SR-1 got destroyed, I howled, NOOOO!! I was completely horrified, I was like WTH are you doing BW?!?
And then when Garrus got hit in the face with the missile I was completely certain he was dead. Maybe I'm just gullible, but it makes for a great game experience. hehe

I don't have any other missions anyway, so there's no point in going anywhere else, though I would have seen the citadel, or omega or illium for the last time first, but that's not important. Regarding the upgrades, I've bought everything, and I assume that the 3(?) upgrades (barrier, silaris and thannix) are of some relevance to the last mission since I haven't had use for them yet. So, I guess I am prepared.
Wish me luck! Collectors, here I come.
The longer you take the more people die. 1st playthrough half died and half lived. I told Miranda and Jacob that we should save them, but maybe had a brain fart because I was expecting them to actually go after the collector ship, board it then and there and get the crew back. When that didn't happen I just finished up some side quests because I forgot you could continue after the suicide mission. Ken lived, Gabby died. That one guy in the crew quarters with the baby died, but his friend didn't. The lady in the mess hall who talks dies but the guy who talks didn't. Not sure about Rupert. Half of the crew "extras" were still around manning their stations.
2nd playthough I knew better so everyone lived.
3rd time, everyoned died but Dr. Chakwas, but I intentionally did the IFF early and planned on halving people die. Just didn't know that the whole crew could die. Guess that means Chakwas is in the same boat as Joker for ME3: 100% in.

Magne, I'm sorry to divert from your weapon question, but I just have to ask: How do you do this? I finished the suicide mission and the credits started rolling immediately after the cutscene where the Reapers are lurking in space. Is it after all the credits or something?

jack's makes her biotic powers do 20% more damage
mordin's makes his tech powers do 20% more damage
grunt's gives him a more powerful shotgun to use
legion's gives him a more powerful sniper rifle to use
that is all. as a little green midget once said "no more, no less"

Will resume game make you continue? Not "start over" but stay the same level, like in ME1?
it lets you start the game after the suicide mission, you can talk to your squad and they will talk about how glad they are that you got them through. and you can do DLC and what missions that are available that you haven't done yet
you can also invite your LI to the captians quarters for some cuddling and snuggling on the couch and bed, if you romanced kelly you can also get her to dance for you

Well, I've passed the Omega 4 relay, just landed on the huge Collector base, and will be playing some more in the morning (01:30 in Norway now) so I'm going to bed. Going to post the results, as it is likely that I will finish the game tomorrow on my character. Good night everyone.

You have two options after the credits: Make a savegame then and there to carry into ME3 or continue.

If you choose to continue, does that mean your save file cannot be imported to ME3?Darkhour wrote...

So the imported game from ME2 to ME3 will be the save game that is at the end, or what? I'm a bit confused right now.

EDIT: New Game plus allows you to start Mass Effect 2 over from a ME 2 clear, and it keeps some of your weapons and your level/stats

There is no import file, there is an autosave at the end of ME 2 which is similar to what Bioware did with Dragon Age. You import from the autosave.

Its not just the autosave I think? I thought it was any of the saves post-suicide mission?

Yea, once you've finished the suicide mission, every save after can be imported for a NG+.
So if you havent reached lvl 30 by the time you "complete" the game, you can just do some side missions to reach lvl 30, before you import it.
