I finished my first tiny mod a while ago. It was fun, so I decided to add a few more items to the game. I wanted to add them to the world though, and I did successfully for a first item, but the area I wanted to add the second item, didn't have an AreaList specified that I can use in the PRCSCR file. How can I fix this or get around it?

@BioWare (though anyone else is free to think about this, or to reply to it):
After having thought about this a bit, why are those AreaList objects in the game anyway? Since they are missing from certain areas, they apparently don't have any real use, except for that PRCSCR file, but since they're missing from at least half a dozen areas, they're pretty useless for that as well. Wouldn't it have been better to link Areas to Scripts in the PRCSCR?

The main thing I know about area list is that if multiple areas have the same area list defined there will be no graphic loading screen when traveling between them. If you have seperate area list defined and area transistion you will see the graphical loading screen while it loads the new area list and then the area.

For example:

Area A = area list 1

Area B = area list 2

Area C = area list 1

If you go from area A to B you will be changing area list and get a graphical loading screen while it loads the new area list and area.

If you go from area A to C you will see a breif loading icon in the bottom right hand corner of your screen as it loads only the new area since it's in the same area list.

I hope that helps some :)

Well, that doesn't help with my problem, but at least it explains the use of the Area Lists. A little anyway.

What jsd313 said. Also, objects and variables are persistent within an area list (i.e. scripts cannot normally refer to stuff in other areas unless they're in the same area list).

IIRC the area list name is generated for areas that don't specify it. You can test this by exporting one of those areas - you'll see an area list file in your export folder.

Thank you, now I can add stuff to my heart's desire, in any location I desire.

For those who have the same problem, the AreaList that is generated has the same name as the Area.
