No particular order.
Dwarf Noble. How can you not like it? Plus you got Gorim.
Circle Mage. I just liked seeing the circle not destroyed and Jowan is cool
Human Noble. I think it has the biggest stroy tie in.
City Elf. Soris? **** Yeah! Killan an Arl's son? **** Yeah! Implied Rape of someone who reminds of my sister? Fu- Feels bad man.
Dwarf Commoner. Leske, you are a bro.
Dalish Elf. I like it allot not sure why. Also It gave me a reason to hate the drakspawn.

Seeing ____ again.

So, I liked them all.

I've only played four of the origins so far: human noble, mage, city elf, and dwarf commoner. I think the city elf and dwarf commoner origins were the most engaging, though I still enjoyed all four.

Edit: Wait, are we talking about origin stories or the entire playthrough?  In that case, I loved playing politics as a human noble, and in my current playthrough, I'm enjoying my return to Orzammar as a dwarf commoner.

City elf. Greatest emotional involvement, and besides elf is my favourite race.

I think City Elf is the most powerful and emotional Origin out of them all and is certainly a favourite of mine. I mean look at all the stuff they go through, how could anyone cope with going through all that?

Dalish Elf is ok at the start. It is interesting to find out about the Dalish elves and such but it is rather simple to me. It does become sad later on and especially when Duncan recruits you. But that moment later on in the game with 'you know who'... Image IPB it just completes the Origin for me.

Dwarf Noble I really like with all of its politcal overtones and sibling rivalries. Makes you feel like you really are in a place of power with everyone either admiring you or scheming against you.

Dwarf Commoner is supposed to be the opposite to Dwarf Noble, but they are quite similar in the way that they show how Orzammar's politics and traditions are run. It shows how messed up people's lives are in their rejected lives. Your family and yourself are so messed up and neck deep in such despicable things that it's the only way your able to survive.

Magi origin are all about trust and betrayal. All the Origins are about trust and/or betrayal but the Magi origin is almost entirely based around it. But even with this whole trust thing it seems more dull to me compared to other Origins.

Human Noble is rather simple compared to other origins but it is just as sad as some of them. It can have real powerful effects later on in the game so later on it becomes a favourite. (STAB HIM Image IPB)

All in all my fav list of Origins is like this.

1) City Elf
2) Dwarf Noble
3) Dwarf Commoner
4) Human Noble (but as said it is one of my favourites, this is just for beginning.)
5) Dalish Elf
6) Magi

I like them all so it's real hard to choose between them, but C.E just wins it for me. I did like Magi but it just doesn't compare to the other Origins I feel.

first, OP

SPOILER
seeing tamlen again is a HUGE SPOILER in my opinion. I'd say remove that part of your post, now.
SPOILER

anyway...

1) Dalish Elf - leaving your clan / "family" hit me kinda hard, personally the most emotional origin.
2) City Elf - Soris is cool, and doing what you do to save ____ is fun / roaring rampage of revenge / etc
3) Either Noble - a delayed RRoR, it seems, and they're fun origin.
4) Mage - I think what's killed this one for me is that I've been thru it so many F-ing times.
5) Casteless - I dunno, even though I have a casteless, it's just my least favorite. instinctual dislike if you will.

Anyone else get the feeling that there's something going on between the PC and Merrill?

Also @whoever told me to edit the post I did.

I haven't played all of them yet... just human noble, city elf and mage.

I really liked human noble origin most because it really tied to the plot emotionally, I felt my char had a more personal agenda against Loghain and co.

I also liked the mage one but the city elf was kind of disappointing for me. I expected it to be one of my favourites but it just didn't drew me in as much. I'm not really sure why... for some reason the noble human family just felt more "real" to me than the city elf family.

I've played them all except for dwarf commoner, but I'm going to have to say that either dwarf noble or city elf is currently my favourite origin.

Dwarf Noble - Female

"I'm so much better than you, that even disregarding that I am a woman they would pick me over you. That's just sad." :P Nothing against women, but Bhelen says that it's happened -once- that a woman was 'king'...

I've only played three origins so far, and I would rank them in this order:

1. Dwarf commoner - my first game, and I really found the story engaging from the start.

2. Human Noble

3. Magi

All of the origins have been good, but I had no trouble ranking the three.

From Dragon Age Wiki. before leaving with Duncan, a conversation between Merrill and the Warden suggests they are either very close friends or even in a romantic relationship.

Dwarf noble, if only because it seems to make the most sense to go from there to the wardens, that or the legion anyway, plus I like surprising Duncan in the deep roads. Annoyingly though I don't really like playing dwarfs, I've never got one past Lothering before.
In terms of what it does to the game though I prefer city elf, because (I thought) it's more interesting to go back to the Alienage as a city elf than to go back to your 'home' as any other origin I've seen, but I'm guessing that's good for dwarf nobles too, considering...

1. Mage - longest, most dialogue, most background, optional small sidequest, only weakness is the bad explanation why you end up being Warden, and one of the NPCs is very annoying
2. Dwarf commoner - very fun, long, very emotional
3. Dwarf noble - very epic, best money, very emotional
4. Elf city - extremely emotional, otherwise quite straightforward
5. Elf wood - lots of lore, nice hidden battle, very good explanation why you end up being Warden
6. Human noble - boring and short, bad explanation why you cant safe your father and why you end up being Warden

1 = Dwarf Noble and City Elf are tied for my favorite - (I just love them both so much!)

2 = Dalish Elf - (First origin I ever played.)

3 = Magi - (Jowan is great and there are other reasons.)

4 = Human Npble - (i know people love this one...I just could never get into it...)

5 = Dwarf Commoner - (it was the last origin I played and, even though I love the idea of starting with nothing, it really means things can only get better which is an odd feeling for an origin.)

My favorite is the human noble. The game fills a little more tied together with that one, simply because Arl Howe is one of the last bosses you face and defeating him brings closure.

After the human noble, I really liked the City Elf origin, though I am not sure why.

Of them all I have to say that the circle of magi and the dalish elf are tied for my least liked origins.

I don't remember any dialogue between Merrill and the PC that would indicate a romantic relationship of any type. I do admit that the very first time I played the Dalish origin, I played as a male Dalish and I thought there might be something because of the way he said goodbye to her and that it focused on her face as he left. She acts the same with a female PC though. So after playing as a female Dalish, I don't really get that feeling any more.

I haven't played either of the dwarf origins, but I have always wanted to just to see how great they are since they always get such high praise from players.  Of the origins I have played, the CE and HN are tied for the most emotional. Compared to the others I think the Dalish origin is somewhat lacking in story, but I do love the warm community feeling of it. Plus it seems like a very storybook beginning, being out in the woods and all. It's also the one I have played the most since the Dalish are my favorite race to play.
