From favourite to least (but I like them all):
City Elf, Female.
Dwarf Commoner
Dwarf Noble, tied with
City Elf, Male, tied with
Human Noble, tied with
Dalish
Mage
My problem with the mage origin is twofold: I hate the forced choice (grassing on Jowan or aiding him escape) and I dislike Jowan (he's whiny). If the PC had the option of volunteering for the Gray Wardens before Jowan inflicts his quest on you, I'd like the origin a lot more. I'd love to be able to say "Sorry Jowan, love to help, but I gotta go. Best of all to you and Lily!"

Dalish Elf: That lifestyle always appealed to me
City Elf (female): very emotional
Human/ Dwarf Noble (tied): They're both very engaging and are tied into the story later on very well.
Magi: It's ok, I've played through it a couple times and Jowan is reeaaaallly whiny.
Dwarf Commoner: Only went through it once for the 360 achievement (I don't like dwarfs very much)

I have yet to try any of the Dwarf origins since i'm not really a fan of Dwarves. Of the ones i played.
1. Magi - Hard to give a real reason maybe it was just because of it being the first one i played through. I like seeing the circle tower functional and the whole magical feel to it all. The storyline to it was decent and tied into the main game quite nicely.
2. Dalish Elf - Although it has a fairly weak story it again ties into the game story fairly well and i like the Dalish Elves as characters. This one also gave a real reason for you to go with Duncan.
3. Human Noble - This one provides some good motivation later on in the game and has a good but cliche storyline that left me a bit bored by the end of it. Not one i'd want to playthrough a lot.
4. City Elf - Yes i'll be a bit controversial because i know lots of people do like this one. Sure it has an emotional storyline especially if you are a female character but for me all the emotion is killed by some poor writing and cheesy voice acting. It's kind of like watching some sort of crappy 80's fantasy movie like Conan or Krull.
