How many of you out there just bought Specilization books then reloaded to get your money back? Or learned Blood Mage then reloaded?

I didn't even think about doing this, honestly. However, since doing the dwarven city quest, I haven't really been strapped for cash, anyway.

It would get your money back :P.

Once you unlock a specilization it is unlocked for your account so if you reload then you have your money back and still have the specilization unlocked.

My momma always told me that cheaters never win.

Honestly, why cheat in a video game? What is the point? Aren't you playing the game to have fun? To me, thats like the folks who buy leveling services and/or buy gold in MMO's. Why do they play at all, if someone else if going to do all the work for them?

oh well, to each his own.

It didn't occur to me to do this earlier, but I was going to do it with the blood mage and reaver in my next play through.

I rushed through the game to unlock arcane warrior, then reloaded to the save game back right when I turned level 7. :)

I thought of doing this, never tried it.

Basically because I thought it'd be too easy, and that there somehow was a mechanic in place to prevent it... xD

Cheating doesn't really occur to me - g/l with the game though.

Sorry, she lied to you

EXACTLY. I am playing this game for the fun = enjoying the great storyline and characters and the challenging combat.
The specialization books are rather expensive, this "workaround" is great. Nothing wrong with it, IMO.

Also it is nothing like buying gold/leveling services in a MMO because both genres are really different when it comes to what makes them fun. On top of that, RMT is nothing like botting or leveling services.
I know quite a few people who buy ingame currency on a regular basis in some rather expensive MMOs(not WoW  and other casual MMOs of course), myself included, my definition of fun in a MMO is the leveling eperience and enjoying end game but not wasting my valuable lifetime on farming money which I do enough of in my real life thus allowing me to spend some money on my hobby

I've not bothered to do this. I can't see the point I'm going to play through the game 3-4 times at least and I haven't found that much to spend the money I have, other then potions/ingredients and backpacks.

I've managed to unlock several non mage specialisations during my ongoing first playthrough. It's so easy to unlock most of them it never even occured to me to cheat in this way.

Didn't do this on purpose, but wanted to see what happens and accidentally unlocked Blood Magic. Then reloaded and did it the 'right' way I planned. But no, can't say I plan on 'cheating'.

Even better... enable the developer console, then you can enter a code to replace your money for anything that's too expensive or ruining your fun or whatever.

LOLZ. I unlocked Arcane Warrior FAIR & SQUARE at level 8. Since I saved the specialisation point and a talent point, I began enjoying the benefits immediately. And I didn't have to rush - did all quests in Osdagar and Lothering before going for Bresilian.

I barely consider it cheating since it is unlocked in all other playthroughs, its more getting around a stupid mechanic. Why should I have to gimp my first character when it comes to money when every character after that won't need to spend that money?

Cheating... by whose standard... not if your a Rogue. is it morally wrong to do? How about those who "cheated" the game by playing all the other Baldur's gate variants and gained all that experience then down nosed those who say this game is difficult because of their unfamilarity with this playstyle. I say cheat away you cunning BARDS...

I may do this for some of the specialisations gained through party members. I am level 12 and have only unlocked one specialisation.

I don't want to keep asking my reluctant party members to teach me their specialisation or get them to like me for that reason alone. It feels like I am not acting naturally towards them.

Locking specializations out is just plain dumb in my opinion. Normally I don't condone cheating but in this instance, I /applaud you.

Ah that would explain why when I looked at my level 5 character I saw that Shape Changer and Spirit Healer are unlocked. I thought my game glitched but was too lazy to start over.
