Hi Surely, I just finished reading UT - took me 2 whole days! As an unabashed Allie girl, I must admit that I felt horrible for him when I first started reading and Brand chose Anders over him. But about 1/3 of the way in, I realised that thoes 2 don't belong together at all. I want Alistair to find peace, and I hope he realises, too, that he doesn't belong with Brand - it seems like he is starting to get the picture. I hpoe he gets past the longing for what could have been. I'm very curious to see how it will end for him. I hope he finaly finds happiness and love, but I think I would rather not know who he finds love with - it would be kind of cool if it were left to the readers immagination (if any of that makes sence). It seems like he may end up with the girl from the inn, but thats not realy who I would picture him with. I kind of picture this Ali with someone who has also been hurt & betrayed in the past. Instead of turning to booze, she closed off her heart and on the outside is cold and ****y (not in a Morrigan way, though, who I think is rather ****y inside & out). She has mostly come to terms with what she has lost by the time she meets Alistair, and he is the final push she needs to tear down her walls.  Which is not to say that she would be a B to Al when they first met, she would recognize his pain and be very kind to him.

Just my 2 cents. Thank you for all the work you put into this, very well done.

Thank you, rak72! And I love your analysis of the Brand/Alistair situation. As a fellow Ali fangirl, this was always going to be an exercise of hurting the one I loved, but I've been surprised at how some things have turned out and how he's turned out.

Yay for updates! I lol'ed at Zevran, especially Zev and Nathaniel. And you're so right that Sigrun would be a fan. She might even be a fangirl!

The Zev bit was my favorite, too.

And I'm not going to lie, most of this chapter was supposed to be part of the last one (which got too long because I decided to make it "a group of people walking and talking"). So I was only supposed to have one chapter that was all mood swingy and now I have two. Yay! Hopefully the next couple of chapters will make balance these last ones out. /author rambling

Because I can't just let things end happily?  It will become pretty clear over the next couple of chapters (and it's not a bad thing necessarily).

Okay, I've finally caught up, and I just want to say that I totally <3 this.  The Lost-ian back-and-forth makes it a bit tough to follow at times -- but then again I could just be getting distracted by my two-year-old climbing in my lap and grabbing my hand when I try to hit the 'Page Down' key.  either way, I love your imagery and overall writing style.

Not a story update, but I made an art. Originally it was just Sadface Brand but Galagraphia inspired me to do something slightly happier. However, due to my utter inability to do upbeat, and since this fits the tone of Undertow right now, here's a childishly done Brand and Anders just being together:
