One of the reasons I was so thrilled to have Sandtigress help with this chapter is because I know the Maric/Fiona/Alistair idea is something that some of us feel strongly about and, if I was going to do it, I wanted to do it as much justice as I could. Since I know your opinion on the issue, I'm very relieved that you liked it.

It is pretty much how I had it worked out, including the bit about you-know-who and mysterious "deaths."  Which is so  and I really wonder why I continue to like that character when all I want to do is sock him.

Plus you had a lot of detail I hadn't thought about which was wonderful, including Duncan squee and Fiona's new occupation which dovetailed wonderfully with your ongoing story.  Well done.

Would the Chantry really risk forcibly taking the child of the Warden Commander/Hero of Ferelden/and a Cousland? I know Connor goes to the Circle but Isolde, Jowan, Teagan, AND Eamon all make it sound like Eamon is willingly SENDING him there, not that they have no choice in the matter and Templars are going to come marching in to seize him.

Edit: And it's not even like they don't have competent mages of their own who could train him.
