Yup. Loghain was actually a pretty good companion once I got over wanting to stick a knife in his kidneys. It was too bad that King Alistair held such a grudge against the Warden for sparing him.

I spared Loghain once... and felt dirty afterwards but I so wanted to see drunk Alistair in DA2.

Yep. Gotta be hardened for him to be king and do anything that puts his own personal desires above being honorable and doing his duty. Having a mistress wouldn't be honorable, so there you go.

I acctually found a way to stay with Alistair as an elf mage. Alistair was hardened after meeting his sister.
*Spoilers*After aranging a marriage between Alistair and Anorra while agreeing to be Alistair's women on the side. I had alistair fight Logain and kill him. After that he came to me saying that our plans had changed, Annora refused to marry a man who killed her father and that he coulndn't be with me because I was an elf. I can't remember exactly what line I chose (after some talking I think), but it was something along the lines of "You are King now, why should people tell you what to do". Then he apologizes for being an idiot and plan on staying together. I don't think this would happen if he wasn't hardened.
