I have played ME1 all the way thru, allowed the credits to finish. When I start ME2 and try to import my ME1 save, it tells me to run the configuration utility to copy the save to the correct location.
I open the configuration utility, but have no idea where the correct location of ME1''s saves are, and no idea if I'm supposed to tell config where to put the save in the ME2 folder.
I have tried this several times, and get the same thing.
I bought ME1 and ran thru it just to see how the game changes, but can't so far.
I also searched the forums, but haven't found anything referring to this.
Trying to import ME saved game. It says run config

The ME1 savegame folder is here: (Win7 64bit, little different on XP or Vista)
C:\\Users\\USERNAME\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect\\Save
That is the folder you tell the config utility to copy the endgame saves from. It knows where to copy them (for example here (Win7 as before) C:\\Users\\USERNAME\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\Save\\ME1)
Did that help?

Do a search on your computer for .masseffectsave
It should be in documents\\bioware\\mass effect\\save but there's a chance it could be in a different location. It really doesn't matter where it is, just note it's location then re-run the config and point it to wherever you found it.
