Sorry about the DP, I am getting weird white screen.

So the squadies to bring, hmm.... depends on your route.

Mordin can do some real hurt'n with Incinerate, which I max right away. If you are lacking an ammo power earlier on, then Jacob. Jacob, IMO is a very underrated character. Pull, plus his incendiary ammo make him a huge benefit to the squad. I would max Squad Incendiary ASAP.

Miranda to fill in as the shield buster until you get Garrus or keep whoever. Iirc, Garrus needs to dump a point into concussive shot before gaining access to Overload. Kasumi is another great CC person that will yield you the ever so deadly Locust. After getting her, you can start dumping into her flashbang.

Sounds solid. I think I'll max Miranda's Cerberus Officer before starting on Overload and Warp, though.

I never gave much consideration to her passive, she's not much of a damage dealer with weapons anyway, and the benefit to squad damage/health is marginal at best. Much more important is to get area overload asap, allowing you to quickly soften up enemy troops before a charge. Armor won't be as much of a problem as shields because you have incendiary. Well, not that shields are a big problem either since you get shotgun shield piercing after jack's recruitment.

Sorry. I was thinking about things from the view of a Soldier. I see what you mean. It's a good thing I haven't spent any points on any squad members yet (doing the Firewalker pack, so I don't need any powers yet).

By the way, what Armor should I use? I'm currently wearing the following set:

Recon Hood
N7 Shoulder Guards
N7 Gauntlets
Aegis Vest
Life Support Webbing

Would I be better served with a different set?

Depends... I can't seem to decide which armor to wear either so I just wear whatever looks/feels/seems appropriate/good/fun/nice. The only thing that doesn't change is melee shoulder pads (after horizon). Sometimes I like to get max shields, sometimes max weapon damage, sometimes max health... sometimes i like the storm speed legs so I don't have to wait for charge to cool down.

I was definitely planning on the Strength Boost Pads to complement the Melee Damage Upgrade.

I really wouldn't bother with Reave on the Vanguard. You have Inferno ammo which is good (argueably better) against the same things. I started my insanity Vanguard with energy drain which I think is definately right early on for missions like Kasumis loyalty and recruiting Jack. You can spec out of it later if needed.

I usually like to wear the Cerberus Armor before Horizon. 10% health, and shields with heavy weapon ammo as icing. Sort of takes the decision making out.

I think for me it's a toss up between the recon hood/headshot visor. I also like melee shoulders, the chest peice that recharges shields faster, and storm speed/heavy weapon legs. Usually when dealing with the N7 gear I prefer damage, and looks as a second. hehe

Well, I just finished Kasumi's Loyalty Mission. It's the first time I really went crazy with Charge. I died more times than I liked, but I had a ton of fun, and lasted a lot longer than I would have without Charge.

My biggest problem is that I'm too used to playing defensively. I'm definitely going to have to overcome that if I'm going to make full use of this play-style.

As of the end of this mission, I have Heavy Charge, and Assault Mastery is one point away from being evolved into Champion. I'm at Level 10, but I've only gotten Mordin and Jack, and done Kasumi's Loyalty Mission, so I think I'm doing well.

Also, I'm going to have to give the Katana a try. I've been using the Eviscerator, but I've been hearing that the Katana is more forgiving. We'll see what happens.

I found that cryo shotgun blast on anything still standing once the charge hits, the bashing in the faces of the frozen statues that used to be a problem but now are just shattered bits on the floor....pop reave (does double damage to shields/armor) to bust down hard targets to soften up the enemy before you slam....use shockwave to CC husks and other annoyances, send em flying.

my two cents

I'd go with Barrier or Shield Boost, but only use it when you can't charge safely. Whenever possible use Charge to refresh your shields; only pop Barrier if you get in over your head and need to get out.

The other option is Reave or Energy Drain for extra damage when you're stuck fighting from cover, but Barrier works for that too. More shields = more time out of cover = more damage.

barriers/armor, not shields

id say use 'em all. you dont need to pick one ability and your stuck with it. its only a buck fifty to respec anyways.

reaves the best tho. im fooling around with the flashbang and it makes my vanguard feel alot more like a soldier then a biotic. its a good mix. plus having reave on every character gets old.
