It will become the new substitute to real life.
@Narelda - Idk if the game was that big, but I really don't think it was that good. The main storyline was pretty boring.

I view the lower limit of DA:O to be 2 million copies and am considering buying ERTS stock (this is not a recommendation).

I hope Dragon Age: Origins will be highly popular.R_G_Spuffington wrote...
Bioware have big plans for the whole concept....

It will definitely get multiplayer (mark my words!). Not now as the focus is in establishing the brand but the NWN developers made this game - they KNOW what a difference MP can make. We arnt talking co-op here, we are talking mp for user made modules/worlds and DM toolkits to made your own worlds and modules come alive etc. They just need the resources which will be more than ample as DA becomes popular from the SP.Topher87 wrote...
I think Morrowind/Mass Effect-big, no way it will reach the heights of Halo, CoD, or any of the other big boys on the block, it would need multiplayer for that.
And after that DA will just be unstoppable. Look at NWN - strong 7 years later and most of that is the fact that the toolkit allows players to make entire worlds, where hundreds to players continue to live (and DMed campaigns that people roleplay their hearts out on).

I'm pretty sure I don't hear most PS3, Wii or PC users sing praise to it. And they are the majority.

as far as rpg's well if they score fallout 3 sales+ and the quality and contend of BG:trilogy or more. we'd definetly be looking at a franchise. (damn i'm hoping, bioware just makes fantasy feel perfect)

Jesus H christ, I knew I wouldn't get away with saying Halo is a successful game.. I'm not a fan of Halo, Gears of War, or MW2, or any other generic crapshooter out there, but numbers tell me they have been quite successful.Mordaedil wrote...
Halo is a big boy on the block? I thought it was just an attraction for the average user of a specific console.

Yeah, hopefully that's something we can look forward to.

Fallout 3 is an RPG first and a shooter second just like Mass Effect, someone who plays a lot of shooters and then plays these two games usually have a lot to whine about while the rest of us RPG nuts are just happy we can squeeze a trigger and it hits something....Paydirt wrote...
I view the upper limit as Fallout3 level with 5 million copies, but DA:O is not a shooter... Going in its favor is that DA:O appears to be a fully realized world (though not fully explorable).

Considering Bioware is taking such care with this game and putting a lot of thought in the community, the writing and the game overall I think this could easily become the next gaming phenomenon. It may become as big as FF or Warcraft (not just wow) if they continue to develop the Dragon Age IP and why should they not if people want more?
Oblivion honestly at it's base is not such a great game, there were tons of problems with it and it could have used polish, polish that fortunately went into Fallout 3. The DLCs at first were sad, sad little things that you could have gotten for free by community modders. If Dragon Age is bug free, immersive and we already have quality dlcs out, well it already has Oblivion beat.

How Oblivion became such a huge hit is still somewhat of a mystery to me. I finished the campaign, but it took a long while, several long breaks and a lot of willpower. But after the initial fresh feeling, it didn't really impress me much. The whole scaling and shallow NPCs and gameplay kind of made the game boring after a while.Eshaye wrote...
