This is SO strange. I played the game:
Did Ostagar
Return to Ostagar
Redcliffe
Sacred Urn
Elf Quest
Broken Circle and the whole tower thing
Now I am in Orzammar and was going to go in and give Ohgren a boost to his stats (up to around 50 in everything is about the limit of my cheating) and I loaded Toolset with no problem.
Now comes the thing . . .
I saved my Orzammar game as Orzammar Ohgren.
I loaded the Toolset and loaded Orzammarohgren.das and BAM SLAP IN THE FACE!
 OUT OF MEMORY error

What the heck!? The toolset had been working FINE up until now.

tech stuff....I have a 3.04GHz Alienware machine using Windows 7 with 2.0Gb worth of RAM (I know, more RAM is coming, believe me, I am getting 8GB or maybe even 16GB at the end of the summer). I thought the RAM thing might be an issue, but the toolset was working FINE before this.

Can someone help me please? Thank you in advance.

Only thing I can think is your trying to do it while the game is still open. If not then maybe make another save and try that one. Rebooting your computer can fix some odd toolset bugs too. Hope you get it working.

Trying to load save games routinely puts the toolset out of memory. 2GB can be easily used up depending on where the save was created. Known long-standing issue with the toolset. Get 4GB at minimum and you'll probably be OK. Hope you're running 64-bit windows though...

If you've got 4GB of physical memory, take a look around at other threads on this board/dragonagenexus that use either a small script from falloutnexus or CFF_Explorer to change a flag in the toolset executable. You may also need to change your boot.ini file if using 32-bit Windows. Good luck--it's not trivial.

I have 4GB and Vista 64 and I can't open my save end-game save file, so 4GB apparently still isn't enough :P

The Toolset executable is by default limited to using no more than 3gb of memory, which means even on 64-bit systems with more memory available it will come to screeching halt when trying to load larger savegame files.

Like flagondotcom mentions, it is possible to remove that limit from Toolset using application like CFF_Explorer. There was some threads dealing with the exact procedure posted in this forum in the past, hopefully a search can help.
