I bought and downloaded the Return to Ostagar quest but it won't play as apparently my game version is not the latest and needs to be updated.  Where can I do this? Image IPB

Assuming your PC, Here. For future reference, if you're ever interested in making sure a game that is registered through this site is fully patched, check the top tabs: Games>*game of your choice*>Game Patches.  If you're not PC and on one of the consoles, i would assume there would be an easy way to patch the game through your account via the console...that is, if you don't get automatically prompted anyways.

Also, for future reference, this is by far a technical issue with the game (DA:O) and thus has little business in the forums devoted to the store.  Please post in the correct forum in the future...

... *nibbles her lower lip* Could you tell me please why this forum here seemed to be the most appropriate one? Just to be able to understand why people post here. Seriously, I'm really wondering about that one.

Lets see... DLC was purchased from the online store
Forum is titled Bioware Online Store Support.
You really don't understand 'why people post here'? Seriously?

People posting here are looking for assistance with a purchase that is not working, they aren't gabbing on about what they think would be a really nifty plotline, or complaining about how they should be allowed to kill anyone they like (I sure would like to shank Anora after she lies about being kidnapped)

Rather than complain 'why are you posting here?' How about simply directing them with a link to an actual answer? Telling me 'this is a technical issue' and this is not the appropriate place to ask your question is less than helpful; it is condescending and pedantic.

Which Stardazzled has done time and time again. So why don't you check your facts before you attack someone.

And I think a cursory glance at the most popular topics in this section might clue people in to the fact that this isn't the forum for DLC technical support.

Thank you for your assistance, Damsel. :)

@Nabob57

I wanted to understand the reasons for soooo many people posting here. And it was a serious question, not mocking anyone. Why it seemed logical to post here rather than using the generals or the techs.

DLC wasn't purchased from the Online Store, it was purchased from an in-game server, an in-game platform, possibly even (in case of X360) the Marketplace or (in case of PS3) PlayStation Network. That is why DLC questions usually are directed to the tech forums. Plus there already are wonderful FAQs about many DLC problems in the tech forums. Plus when you read the Sticky, there is not a SINGLE LINE mentioning DLC and points. There even is a link in it to the store that this forum here is meant for. (Take a second of your time and follow it.)

I already wrote to Mr. Priestly about adding another line about DLC and points to the Sticky, but he hasn't done so. Maybe I'll ask Mr. Woo for his assistance. I don't know whether Mr. Seigle can add a line to Mr. Priestly's Sticky or not.

Thx for your time. And hey, be as much... grumpy... as you want to. My week can't get worse.

(Oh yeah, why should I even bother to give a link when someone already did so?)

Speak of the devil - I'm currently drafting a FAQ specifically for the store forum, which upon completion I will get Jedi's approval and hopefully get it stickied, and it will hopefully serve as a continuously updated source of info on general and some particular topics relating to the store. Within this, I will briefly mention the DLC and points, simply to provide helpful links and point out that this is not the place to post such issues...

...though as it seems people are apparently ignoring this forums first sticky, I question how helpful it will be...at least responding to such threads as these will become easier/simplified.

First let me apologize Stardazzle.

I purcahsed the DLC and wasn't able to get it to work either - not an excuse, but explanation of my 'grumpiness'.

As to your 'defender' ... seriously. I came on the forum because I bought DLC that does not work and did a search which brought me here. If you have all the time in the world to investigate every post made by every individual to 'check the facts' before hand then more power to ya. Your expectation that I should have done so is the kind of 'looking down your nose' attitude makes forums a last effort.

I did not see any FAQ or make any 'cursory glance of the topics in this forum' because I came to the forum with a problem needing resolution. I did not SELECT this forum. The post came up when I did a search for RETURN TO OSTAGAR WON'T PLAY

I have since seen the notorious 'sticky' and attempted to make sense of it regarding MY issue. Its a LOT of reading and cross-referencing and I did not see MY issue.

Again.. STARDAZZLE.. without the 'grumpy'.. I ended up on this forum because of a search. Your explanation of the DLC not being purchased from the online store makes little sense to me. The game made contact somewhere online and I made a purchase from Bioware.

All that being said, the whole experience with RtO has been disappointing as I have seen numerous complaints about Bioware DLC's breaking things and generally not working. Perhaps I will try posting again (to a tech forum or something) to see if I can get it to work.

I love Origins and recently enjoyed finishing Awakening. I thought Darkspawn DLC was fun too.
