Not sure how excited I am for this anymore, but I know many wanted to know about it's release date.

Blizzard isn't in the habit of handing out game release dates until they're good and ready, so when they say StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will be hitting store shelves worldwide in late July, they damn well mean it.

StarCraft II is possibly the most eagerly anticipated real-time strategy game in the history of the genre, and now that anticipation has a white-hot target - July 27, 2010. That's when the game will start hitting retail stores around the world, including the United States, Canada, Europe, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Mexico, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Is that a wide enough release for you?

"We've been looking forward to revisiting the StarCraft universe for many years, and we're excited that the time for that is almost here," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "Thanks to our beta testers, we're making great progress on the final stages of development, and we'll be ready to welcome players all over the world to StarCraft II and the new Battle.net in just a few months."

You might want to start lining up outside your nearest retailer now.

The picture is of the $100 C.E.   I don't think it has the original Ten Commandments, but I think it comes with a World of Warcraft pet.

Ok.

I remember playing and really enjoying the original StarCraft, but it's been so long, I'm not sure if I actually care about it anymore. Probably I'll just wait for reviews and for all three StarCraft II games to come in one package, maybe at a discount.

Meh. Blizzard RTS's are mediocre at best.

$50 (maybe $60) + BNet fees are just...hmmm...how should I describe it...

Then again, there probably needs to be a 50/50 split in profit for Crack-tee-vizshun and Blizzy B.

I'm looking forward to it, though I'll hold out until the Zerg campaign (possibly CE) is released.

The only fun I've gotten from any of Blizzard's RTS games came from the user made content.

Blizzard isn't that insane. They would lose plenty of purchases if the multiplayer for their non-MMO games had an online fee tied to it.

**** Starcraft 2, Dawn of War II (Warhammer 40k) is so much better.

Besides, who's crazy enough to pay the price of a full game for every additional race and campaign that should be in the damn game in the first place? Screw Blizzard, damn money wolfs.

And yes, I've played Starcraft 2, I have a beta key. And really, I'm not impressed. The game is massively over-hyped and as I said, Dawn of War II is better.

The vanilla game is apprently $10 more than the average pc game (like Modern Warfare 2/Assincrap 2).

Yeah and the vanilla game will only have one campaign for one race in it. So if you want to play all the campaigns for every race you have to buy 2 to 3 "expansions" which all cost as much as what you normally would pay for a full game. So in order to own the complete game you have to pay you ass off.

I wouldn't be so sure of that, the one game might be the length of three smaller games.

I'd rather have each one meaty than three small games making up one game.

I wouldn't know since the beta key only gave me acces to the multiplayer feature of the game. So I've only played a few battles against the A.I and a few against a friend of mine. I grew bored pretty quickly. I wonder if I even want to play an extremely long SC2 campaign.

No, SC2 is not the game for me. I'll stick with Dawn of War II.

Dawn Of War II would have been awesome if it had more variation in the SP.
The boss fights were pretty lame, Company Of Heroes had a much better SP imo.

Speaking of Company Of Heroes, check this out.

And I honesty doubt the SP of SC2 will have any more variation. Atleast the MP of Dawn of War II is awesome, where SC2's multiplayer is only mediocre. It offerst nothing new really. It's everything you know form the old Starcraft in a new package with a few new features that aren't all that impressive or revolutionair. The game feels like something that should have been released many moths/years ago. It doesn't feel like a "next-gen" 2010 game. The game already feels outdated while the game isn't even released yet!

I thought the multiplayer was great, and hell I'd even clench my teeth and pay the $60 for a legendary game like this (making this my first $60 purchase which I avoid on principle) but knowing three expansions await is just too much.

Blizzard has stated that they aren't reinventing the wheel, so to speak. at least they are being honest about it.

besides, look at the awesome things you can do with the editor:
Starcraft 2 racing game

Yes. They are giving Starcraft fans more Starcraft with some shiny new additions.  They are not making some brand new game Blizzard is making Starcraft 2. If that is not your cup of tea so to speak fine but do not tear it down because Blizzard has not changed it to suit your tastes.

As far as DoW2 Multiplayer is concerned it is pretty much Company of Heroes multiplayer with some tweaks. Nothing brand new or revolutionary in that.

For those that have not played DoW2 in a while they did make some changes in how the single player campaign plays out. Its not a huge change but it is no longer clear the map and kill the boss every single time while starting at the same exact place every time. It was refreshing when I played thru it after picking up the expansion which I reccomend.

As far as Starcraft 2 being split up I am going to wait to see how that works. It sounds interesting that each single player campaign is going to be as large as the first games 3 campaigns were and each is supposed to play out in a different manner then the other two.

Most likely tho I will just wait till a battlechest type of deal comes out since there are plenty of games in the world to play.
