I'm assuming it is of course the idea of Activision. Christ, I despise that Bobby Kotick.

It offerst nothing new really. It's everything you know form the old Starcraft in a new package with a few new features that aren't all that impressive or revolutionair. The game feels like something that should have been released many moths/years ago. It doesn't feel like a "next-gen" 2010 game. The game already feels outdated while the game isn't even released yet!
Blizzard has stated that they aren't reinventing the wheel, so to speak. at least they are being honest about it.
besides, look at the awesome things you can do with the editor:
Starcraft 2 racing game
Yes. They are giving Starcraft fans more Starcraft with some shiny new additions. They are not making some brand new game Blizzard is making Starcraft 2. If that is not your cup of tea so to speak fine but do not tear it down because Blizzard has not changed it to suit your tastes.
As far as DoW2 Multiplayer is concerned it is pretty much Company of Heroes multiplayer with some tweaks. Nothing brand new or revolutionary in that.
For those that have not played DoW2 in a while they did make some changes in how the single player campaign plays out. Its not a huge change but it is no longer clear the map and kill the boss every single time while starting at the same exact place every time. It was refreshing when I played thru it after picking up the expansion which I reccomend.
As far as Starcraft 2 being split up I am going to wait to see how that works. It sounds interesting that each single player campaign is going to be as large as the first games 3 campaigns were and each is supposed to play out in a different manner then the other two.
Most likely tho I will just wait till a battlechest type of deal comes out since there are plenty of games in the world to play.
I've never played Company of Heroes but if you say it's the same as DoW2 then I guess it's worth a shot, since DoW2 was awesome.
It's just that I find it lame that DoW2 feels and looks more robust than SC2, while DoW2 has been out of a while now and SC2 isn't even released yet. The cover system in DoW2 worked awesomely well, which SC2 doesn't even have. The character animations in DoW2 also look a lot better than the character animations in SC2.
I'm not saying DoW2 is the holy grail of the RTS games, it's just a shame that SC2 is so mediocre and worse than it's rival DoW2.

Btw what's so good about Dawn of War 2? What you're talking about are cosmetic things.
Starcraft 1 had a really good and immersive gameplay, perfect balanced factions, cool voice acting an to top it of a really good story. I think the second part will be the same.

This GameSpot Article talks about the S2: WoL Collector's Edition, & it claims the CE to be $100 bucks, not the $180 - $200 reported here, or was that talking about getting all 3 Factions? Anyway, This article states that it's gonna have a large artbook, a soundtrack, & a cool 2GB Flash Drive shaped like Jim Raynor's Dogtags that contains Starcraft 1 & the Brood War Expansion. I can't speak for everyone, but that's lookin to me like $40 bucks of extras!
I've never been able to choose a favorite Faction. I dunno if i'll be able to do so this time around either.
My 1 1/2 cents.

yeah, they meant $180 for buying all 3 campaigns. if each one really is as big as the whole first game, it's definitely worth it.

Krigwin wrote...The ~$200 price tag is simply outrageous. It's abominable that companies are getting away with these borderline criminal practices.
It's harbored from a console mentality. Without mod support or map makers, they have realized they can take little things like re-skins, map packs and models and charge money for dribbles, this has grown into a big evil monster with pre-order tat and super special edition tat. Pc gaming is great, the industry is trying to stump it out and/or convert it to console gaming.

Just cosmetic things? How about different gameplay? No base building? Small, more focused squad skirmishes? Campaign being an action-rpg and the multiplayer being more like the tabletop?
I'm not the biggest fan of either, but DoW2 had more going for it than looking pretty, which both games do.

You got to be joking. Of all the things they have done, they did 2 addictive RPGs, 1 big mistake and 4 RTS. Those last were the best part.Vaeliorin wrote...
Meh. Blizzard RTS's are mediocre at best.
Note : 1 big mistake = WoW.

I'd rather have WC4 any day.

I don't think it's $60 for the expansions.
Expansions will be the same cost as the main game, as they're the same size. Possibly *slightly* less, since the full multiplayer is in the main game.
