... because the monthly fee on WoW is a charge completely seperate from the contained content, while the Starcraft expansions will have a legitimate, though very small, amount of lesser content?

I'll be getting Starcraft 2, but mainly out of love to the story and characters. I just want to see how the story of Raynor/Kerrigan/Zeratul ends. Truth be told, I'm actually AWFUL at RTS games (I had to rely on cheats to beat the first game), but I must admit, SC2 looks absolutely beautiful.

In SC1, some of the late levels had some seriously buggered level balancing. I'm seriously hoping that Blizzard is learning from those mistakes & carefully avoiding repeats of those errors.

Second for protoss

and third for Zerg

well even though i am not into the rts type of game.

with the whole pricing idea.



maybe sc2 (humand only) might be worth 60 bucks (even though that is expensive for a game)

giving credit the campaign is larger and you get something you do not have at this time (engine and models of the other races).



but the other 2 races should cost a lot less (up to a maximum of 20 bucks) to be fair, since they really only are mission packs.



but I must say I agree this being the dark ages of the gaming industry.

the high price for this, battlenet probably being mandatory to play even in single player.

ubisoft making an internet connection mandatory for its single player games for the sake of copy protection (which is the sole reason I will not buy splinter cell conviction)



I can only hope that the fact, that me2 sold very good even without copy protection will encourage bioware/ea not to do the same.

I look forward to Starcraft II but I don't want anything to remind me of World Of Warcraft.

The Tauren Commando will only be featured in the editor and custom games, not ranked matches or campaign.  As for their being a WoW easter egg somewhere, I don't doubt it.  Every unit has a few easter eggs.
Ex. "This is my C-14 Impaler gauss rifle.  There are many like it, but this one is mine."

The WoW expansions costed 40 USD so i suspect the Starcraft expansions will cost that much as well.

I actually planned to wait till Blizzard releases some kind of Battlechest or something years down the road, but screw the wait, I'm getting it as soon as it's released. Really can't wait for it, given that Diablo 3's release date is still TBA.

that's about a full game there, considering they have bonus missions and such.

and the games based around the competitive multiplayer anyways



So I'm not sure what the couple of you are talking about when you say its only part of a game.

Was expecting Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 as well but everything seems to be so horribly WoWified that it puts me off quite a bit...don't they eye-stress-test their graphics at all? WoW made my eyes squeal, now even SC2 and D3 are in bright colors...

Still I quite enjoyed SC and D2 back in the day so we'll see I guess.

Not much of a starcraft fan (played the campaigns no multi), I did like diablo, never played diable 2... but was looking forward to diablo 3

There was an entire act taking place on a snowy mountain top in D2 (the one that came with the expansion).
And it was in no way less filled of evil and death (and even fire) than the rest of the game.

Why would lotsa bright colors be a bad thing, especially in a sci-fi game? I can agree on hoping on a lack of WoW influence. I like Starcraft, but not WoW, at the same time. I would be suprised if I was alone on this.

The vanilla game is apprently $10 more than the average pc game (like Modern Warfare 2/Assincrap 2).

Yeah and the vanilla game will only have one campaign for one race in it. So if you want to play all the campaigns for every race you have to buy 2 to 3 "expansions" which all cost as much as what you normally would pay for a full game. So in order to own the complete game you have to pay you ass off.

I take it you're not familiar with having light-sensitive eyes coupled with migraine tendency? I could not use Full Screen glow or specular lighting in WoW for more than 5 minutes before my head started splitting open. Things probably aren't that bad in D3 and SC2 since they are different type of games (you don't stare at your characters butt all the time and look things from a far more distant angle) but bright colors aren't needed to make a stylish game...

Just look at the difference, it's incredibly huge. And what does it matter even if it's a sci-fi or a fantasy game? It has nothing to do with it. Does ME2 have a world filled with bright colors? It doesn't. What I mean is, there's colorful, and then there's a rainbow with sun shining on the background.

At least provide people with a separate Contrast adjustment. In WoW, I ran out of gamma/contrast/brightness adjustment both in the game and in my monitor. Playing around with video card settings isn't very fun either in the long run.

I can play all other games hours and hours straight, but WoW causes headache after a couple of hours. Still, as I said, probably isn't such a big deal in a game that rolls in a different perspective. Besides the games aren't even out yet, we'll have to wait and see for the final result.

Edit: Bah, neverwind, the guy on the link had hardware issues (surprise ). Still, full screen glow in WoW is a no-go.
