What needs to happen is BW needs to not cater to people too lame to play the first two games, and finish this for those of us who've stuck by BW for four years waiting for an epic conclusion.

I am gonna laugh my ass off when pyjacks fly out your butt dude!
but seriously, I agree... they cater waaaay too much to the newbies.

Well, I just finished the game for the first time (yeah, I'm late, I know... I was deployed).
Awesome does not even begin to cover everthing from the Omega 4 relay to the credits - the suicide mission is nothing short of epic.
All that being said, I'm already looking forward to ME 3, and wondering how Bioware is going to finish this. Here is my list of things that need to happen in the next game. I'd be interested to hear yours.
1. Getting to show the council (if you saved them) once and for all what they're facing. Some kind of mocking line with air quotes directed towards the turian councillor is mandatory (yes, even for paragons).
1a. Letting the council get blown up (if you didn't the first time) would be nice, especially if you could send them off with something to the effect of "What reapers? I see nothing around the Destiny Ascension but dismissed claims."
2. Reckoning for Kaidan/Ashley. At a minimum, they should apologize. You should also have the option of not letting them rejoin your team.
2a. There should be some unkind words for Kaidan/Ashley from Garrus and Tali along the lines of abandoning Shepard.
3. Some kind of explanation for Liara. I don't know how they're going to reconcile ME1 Liara with the ME2 version. I'm not even a huge Liara fan, but even I was surprised with her character. The writers are going to need to do a hell of a correction job in ME3.
4. Bring the Mako back. Just have it for one mission or something, but I want to see it in the cargo bay.
5. If you did not side with TIM after the suicide mission, have an option to rejoin the Alliance and remove the damned Cerberus logos from everything. (I'm convinced that every crewmember also has a Cerberus tattoo on their ass. Am I the only one wondering why a secret organization even has a logo?).
5a. If you did side with TIM, then I would expect the Alliance/Council to cut ties with Shepard. He should then go by Agent or Operative Shepard for ME3. Yes, I know that'd be more dialogue to record, but it would be a nice touch.
5b. If you cut ties with TIM, I would assume that he'd try to retake the Normandy and come after you. This should culminate in a mission against him and you putting two rounds in the back of his head.
6. Promote Shepard (if Alliance). Period. Staff commander minimum, but the man deserves to be a captain.
7. I think they were hinting pretty heavily that Matriarch Aethyta is Liara's 'father' and Aria is the asari commando Wrex was hired to kill. If this is the case, they *need* to have scenes with the respective pairs meeting.
7a. Matriarch Aethyta needs to be recruited as the Normandy's bartender.
8. Final resolution of the Geth/Quarian conflict. Can go either way, depending on the alignment of your Shep.
9. Final resolution towards cure or continuation of the genophage.
10. Cure Thane. I'm not really a Thane fan, but with as much of a genius as Mordin is, it would seem very lame *not* to cure him.
11. A "Shepard loyalty mission." The squadmates got all the love in ME2... let's resolve some of Shep's personal demons in ME3.
11a. If you have a spacer background, let's finally meet Shep's mom. Hannah Shepard has shown up in newscasts, e-mail and on comms, but never in person. Also, it would be AWESOME to have MomShep meet the LI.
12. On that note... LI related quests. I know the romance subplots are exactly that... subplots, but there should be at least one mission related to each romance option. I'm thinking something like the alignment missions in ME1.
12a. Assuming no "Priiiiize" romance, Kasumi and Jacob should probably hook up.
13. Pick up the game *exactly* where ME2 left off. We shouldn't have to go recruiting/gaining loyalty again. That was what ME2 was about. If we have to do 'buliding' missions, let it be like the Hordes of the Underdark campaign when you were recruiting nations to help fight against the Valsharess. Instead of recruiting people, we'd be using our team to recruit races (i.e. a mission for the turians, asari, etc).
14. Taking squadmates out to get drunk. Shep shouldn't be the only one getting 'more stuff put into the thing you put more stuff in.'
14a. Specifically, Shep/Garrus/Jacob need to have a guys night out. Eternity stripper optional.
14b. FemShep/Miranda/Tali girls night out. I guess an Asari stripper also works, lol.
14c. Drunk Tali. This needs to happen. I have the sneaking suspicion that she becomes a very vocal drunk. "Miranda, how EXACTLY do you put that thing on every morning? Do you have to vacuum-seal it on?"
15. We also need to meet Admiral Hackett. His voice is just too cool to not have a face. "5th Fleet out."
Great list, but I think it would require an ME4 w/ Shep. Either that or a 80 hour 4 DVD disc set of ME3. I'm all for that, though.

OP Just my thoughts on it. Play as you like of course.
As far as Ash / Kaidan, Their commander / possible love interest has been dead for two years and shows up with cerberus. A group you both fought against in ME1. If I were one of them, Shep would be lucky if all he got was yelled at a bit. They did apologize in their emails. They would have had to go AWOL to join Shep. They are military. On that note, I don't know where you are from, but thank you for your service.
Agree on all counts, including "thank you for your service".
Though I liked Kaidan's e-mail much better than Ash's, probably becuase I like Kaidan more than Ash.
I'm not sure I would want to rejoin the Alliance if I kept the Spectre status, I always had a slight conflict of interest worry, but I could see where that could have some interesting story input.
