Hespith/the Broodmothers/The Mother:sick:

Meeting Ruck in the caves:(

When you're an elf and you meet the possesed Connor in the main hall; he talks about cutting off the ears of the elves in the castle and feeding them to the dogs. Also the Tegan puppet......MARMALADE!

Wait, what?  When does the campsite get attacked?  What?

Just play the game, it'll turn up eventually. It was nice to have a conclusion for that plot thread, but it was still sadly underwhelming, considering it was the dalish origin's only concrete tie-in to the rest of the game. :(

E: I don't know if that attack happens on other PCs than DE, though.

Every time one of those hairy frakkin' spiders drops into sight between my character and the camera, which puts it right in my spider-hating face.

Oh, and a moment later when they overwhelm my PC with that horrible chittering sound. Gawd, I HATE spiders. Being a spider is an automatic capital offense at my house.

I was one of those people who just felt green around the gills watching the Shelob sequences in LOTR. I knew they were coming, I knew I was gonna hate 'em, and I warned my wife if might be the one time in her life that she got to hear me scream like a 12 year old girl. I didn't of course, but just the thought of it made her laugh.

Just in case I wasn't quite clear on the issue, I REALLY don't care for spiders.

Giants spiders have come up in every D&D game I've ever been in.  And they're in so many video games.  Personally, I've always been a little less afraid of the idea of giant spiders than real ones.  A giant spider you can probably see coming.  With the real ones that are tiny and dangerous, you just feel a sudden ****** and then your leg rots off.

It happens for all PCs but only for the DE is one of the shrieks revealed to be Tamlen.  It usually happens for me right after I've got the sacred ashes.  I thought it was pretty powerful to learn that one's childhod friend was transformed into a darkspawn and sent to kill you.  And there but for the grace of Duncan...

It happens for everyone, but is only special for the DE. Which is funny, since the Dalish Elf is almost never special.

Also, I should say, it's SUPPOSED to happen. I had a playthrough recently where it never triggered, and another where it triggered very late.

Seriously.. the giant video game spiders can creep me out, but real ones make me scream and run every time. I have to muster some serious courage to quickly find something to kill them with an ATTACK!

I don't just kill them I ATTACK! Like, battle cry and everything!

Yeah the spider moments got me sometimes. Even when I new they were coming up, I'd be so into the game, then all of a sudden HISS! Spiders! The thing is with some of the RL giant spiders (ones as big as your fist) is that they creep up on you at night....You never see it coming till it's too late! :crying:

The Broodmother. I remember when I did my first playthrough, as a fem!Amell, and the sudden realisation for my PC that she stands a larger than average chance to become a broodmother. My stomach actually dropped and suddenly I understood why Wardens may not seem to recruit as many women. The thought of being forced to eat darkspawn flesh and then popping out hurlocks made me feel ill on behalf of my mage.

Hespith's little rhyme is extremely disturbing. "Eight day we hated as she is violated..." "She tore off her husbands...face." Lovely.

I don't know that a Warden could become a broodmother, though, since they have some immunity to the taint and darkspawn tend to treat them differently.

As for the rest...

Cousland massacre - seeing your little nephew butchered is harsh. Definitely the most emotional origin, for me.

Killing Connor. I only tried it once, to see what would happen but damn, that was rough. I don't like Isolde but I had to feel sorry for her there.

Killing Loghain. Yes really. That whole cutscene - killing him right in front of his daughter and watch her get splattered with blood - totally brutal. Did it on my first playthrough and haven't managed to do it since. Good job I like the character then, isn't it!

This.  I still jump evertime a spider drops down from the ceiling.  The background chittering actually raises the hackles on the back of my skull.

I just rememberd another harrowing scene when Niall asks you to take the Litany Of Adralla from his body in the Broken Circle quest. You ask *Body?* And Niall goes on to say *I am dying* That was so sad.

Sorry...none mentioned my fave.

The orphanage. That singsong 'Ser Willam'? Not to mention hearing it so many times as you reload to try to keep Ser Otto alive.

Creepy.

Hahaha I know this feeling so well as a fellow arachnophobe. Since I moved to an apartment I haven't seen a single spider though.
I used to live in like a century old house and sometimes you'd go to the bathroom and there'd be a HUGE spider in the toilet.
Good thing I had two toilets in the house cause when that happened I would bolt the door shut (after running around aimlessly and screaming like a little girl for 5 minutes) then refrain from stepping a foot inside that bathroom for a week or so.

I do the same thing when I grab a book to kill the darn things, like the battle cries and adrenaline pumping! Whats up with spiders surviving everything btw? Its like "Hey I just smashed you with a huge book" and they're scuttling away. The worst part is when they survive the attack and they run towards you with super speed. You just know that its out for your blood because you've revealed your true intentions and feelings towards the spider by assaulting it with an object 10 times its size!

Hrm, yea so that was probably the longest forum posts I've made on these boards. Which is pretty sad. Now I need to calm my wildly beating heart after reliving these moments of arachnid terrors.

I can't even kill them myselfPosted Image Most I can do is spray them with poison from a safe distance or scream for help... but my family always take their sweet time in coming to my aid while I yell "It's getting AWAY!"
What I hate most is they ALWAYS come after ME! If me an a person who isn't afraid of spiders are riding in a car guess on whose side the creepy crawler is gonna appear Posted Image

Thankfully videogame spiders don't freak me out as much Posted Image sure they're creepy but they're on a screen and not crawling around my bedroom.

funny thing, I was recently playing DAO in my room. I had my game-on It was a little humid so I wasn't too surprised that I was sweating. I felt an an annoying tingling dripping down the back of my head onto my neck so I do a quick wipe with the hand, glance at my palm and there is something dark in my palm I glance at it a moment longer and see that not only is it a spider, it was still moving.

I don't think anything is as disturbing as Hespiths rhyme, but this scene deserves honorable mention:

The demon in the orphanage that laughs and says "There is no Maker!" and then slaughters Ser Otto.

Shrieks are darkspawn? I thought they were demonic abominations.

Ohhhhhh shrieks are elven darkspawn. That explains a lot. I always thought it was strange that there were human and dwarven sized darkspawn but not elven.

Definitely the Broodmother's, they are by far the creepiest things in both games, then the children when they evolve to adults, and watching them evolve after overwhelming you, ugh lol

Yep. And ogres are qunari darkspawn. THERE'S a broodmother that ought to be a real beeyotch!
