slimgrin- dunno. Maybe I am just slow. I probably milked this one like you did. I did buy drinks at bars and did do planet scanning, enough to buy a lot of upgrades but not all of them. Also chatted a lot to see if anyone had anything new to say- usually not (same as ME1 haha). Overall I think the lengths are pretty equal. An expansion just feels less attractive to me because of the level cap. I am an RPG nerd whose self-worth is measured by numeric levels. If it is a great story, good but something will be missing if I am already maxed out and playing a 20 hours expansion.

If it's going to be done the expansion should be after and include something like a new squaddie which includes a new part of the ship called life support, which isn't the same as the medical room, the squaddie should be batarian, also the collectors start attacking the raloi, I mean come on there was more than one collector ship that may not have been attached to the base, and you go down there with the mako and start defending the home planet turvess unlocking it as a hub planet like tunchanka, and the choice at the end would either the kill the new collector general or kill the Raloi chief.

Seeing how ME2 ended, I wouldn't be surprised if Bioware pulled a Dragon Age: Awakening and have you start an expansion without any of the current squad members around.

Would that still be fun? Well, why not? However, I can imagine people going into fits when they realize they don't get to bring Tali into the expansion. Oh, the rage and tears, I can almost see it already.

Yes please on the Expansion, And i dont get all the people complaining that it might take away Bioware's resource's to develope the third game, bioware is a large gaming company who now have the support of an even larger distributor, so im sure setting aside a team of developer's specificly for this task would not take away from the time going into the third game, now if bioware were still an independent developer i could understand the "resource's" arguement but that clearly is no longer the case, otherwise what was the point of the EA buyout ?

Expand away. More in-depth content would be great. Especially if it involved more than just Shepard.

Since it is unlikely that the current ME2 crew will be included in an expansion, it would be nice if the Virmire survivor and Liara joined Shepard as temporary squadmates. I understand that a Liara DLC has been hinted at, so the idea isn't all that far-fetched, but finding a way to incorporate Ash/Kaidan may be tricky.

How grand! My self worth is also measured in numbers. 2000 bp in Street fighter4 = loser. And I am comfortable with that. Happy even...really.

Either would like the devs to (1) Work on a real expansion pack or (2) Work on ME3. DLC is just meaningless.

I would buy an expansion, most likely.

I am just scared of the company moving to push out products that aren't as epic and worthy of the name "BioWare" across it in order to make a few quick bucks. I realize they are a for-profit company and they have a bottom line, I just wish someone was good enough to do both without sacrifice, and unfortunately EA does not have that reputation.

I only say that because I don't know what they have planned. They likely laid out the DLC that would be produced after launch, but it's not impossible to imagine them seeing the feedback on the forums regarding such an expansion and changing plans to try to get one out (under the pretense that one is not already planned).

Pure speculative garble, but those are my worries, right onto the table.

Just an FYI, you realize there is more than one "team" working on a project, right? They can work on multiple projects at a time. You will likely have the "ME3" team that has the writers and lead devs, but a separate "DLC team", a team which wouldn't need to have the writers on board (unless it was a DLC that progressed the story, obviously) and just some coders and artists.

Obviously I don't know exactly how BioWare fields their people, but yeah, it's not like it's one giant group of people that can only do one thing at a time.

Let me put it this way, I would be HAPPY (not just willing) to pay for an expansion.

Depends on what's in it I guess. It'd have to be more than a couple of missions and a new weapon.

Probably won't be an expansion or DLC that  dramaticaly expands the story in any way, since BioWare realises a lot of people won't want to buy it to be able to import into ME3. Sure they could make it optional for import, but it probably won't dramaticaly expand the story then since everyone who didn't buy it and imported would be missing a lot.

I want them to focus on ME3 so that now that the combat system has been completely revamped, they can focus on the story and the characters and bring the series to an amazing end. So no, I'm not that keen on an expansion, especially if it ends up being something that has little or no effect on ME3. However, if they somehow manage to do both very well, I would certainly buy an expansion if something like that was released.

If its anything like awakening forget it(the combat,combat,combat...sorry no real in depth characters here!CHARGE!!)

I think awakening was the first bioware product I've bought that I have been disapointed with.

I would happily pay for any ME2 dlc. but I would but a ME2 doll.. I mean action figure in a second, maybe my opinion shouldn't count.

Short of turning back the clock, the genie is already out of the bottle. Bite-sized DLC is here to stay, like it or not, simply because it makes money. Saying "I realize they are a for-profit company " and "changing plans to .. get one out" shows a disconnection with economic reality. So Bioware should sit on their thumbs while everyone else is making money with micropayments? Who's going to tell the shareholders, "We could have made more money with DLC, but we chose not to, because some people don't like it"?

What some people can't seem to grasp is that complaining about DLC achieves nothing, because they offer Bioware no other alternatives on micropayments besides expansions. The return on expansions is comparatively poor since everyone seems to expect a 20 hour game with the same quality as ME2 for $10, while DLC is much easier to produce and their low price makes it more likely people will buy it.

Yes, but all of them that aren't those two things (for the people they have on Mass Effect) are a colossal waste of resources. Oh yay, I can get more pants. Or how about some lady who only speaks in monotone about how good at thieving she is, who I can't even have a conversation with?
