First of all let me describe the problem. Play the game fine then after a while I notice that the overlays ( by that I mean health, weapons readouts etc) start to flicker then after a bit the game start to flicker and the audio starts to break up/choppy (sounds like Neo coming out of the matrix!!). To fix it I read about people changing resolution and then back again and that does work for a while. Now to start with I thought it was my Graphics card dying but I noticed that it happened most often at  a cut scene (not a video movie but an engine movie) Sometimes I can play for an hour and its fine - other times it does it after a few minutes.  Also noticed that occasionally the subtitles have black box behind them - but that doesent cause any problems, but may be related.

Apart from this the game runs perfect no slow downs or loss of FPS.

Computer Pentium D 3Ghz
Asus P5Q Deluxe
Windows XP (fresh install last week)
SoundMax Audio
2Ghz Ram
Geforce 8600GTS

It could also be overheating, check the inside of your pc for dust. Did you also make sure you have the latest drivers for every component?

Yeah all latest drivers - fresh install last week so I always make sure everything is up to date. I did wonder about a heat issue, didnt have any problems with Dragon age recently - but I suppose it could be on its way out!! A lot of people talking about Graphics and audio glitches, wasnt sure if mine were the game or not??

Cheers

That's an awfully old and slow CPU compared to the minimum; I should think that you can'r expect anything any better from an obsolete part like that.

Well I know its getting on a bit but its not that slow, Its just first generation dual core (3Ghz) But like I said game runs flawlessly for ages - just the cut scenes seem to trigger it.

Compared to the minimum, yes it is.  The Conroes (and descendents) and the AMD products just run rings around it, and have been doing so since it was brand new and unable to compete on a similar level.
