But hey, maybe Bioware will implement this for ME3. (*crosses fingers*)

This is true. You can wear the recon hood in place of the N7 breather helmet though.

While I understand the logic behind it, it doesn't make it any less annoying.

just wearing a mask that covers the mouth in hostile environments ...like Kasumi, Jack, Samara and Mirander is a problem ONLY to Shepard?
..just sayin'

Yeah, it's ridiculous. One part of me loves to rant and rave about the idiocy of fools wanting Shepard to run around with his head uncovered in a firefight or in a toxic or vacuum environment. The other part of me wants to spit and cuss at Bioware for the incredible lack of anything even approaching realism (within the Mass Effect continuity) in the way the NPCs' outfits are treated (including their lack of eye coverage in a chlorine-filled environment).cruc1al wrote...

I guess the last part of me just sits down and sighs and wonders why Shepard's outfits should make sense if his allies' don't.

True, but it would still be nice to get the bonuses, even if you're wearing a visor. I'd hate to lose the bonus from the Kuwashii visor just because he's in a toxic environment.

He should take off the dang armor on Illium or the Citadel. Maybe even Omega too.IMethos wrote...
Maybe Shep could maybe take off the full headgear when on illium or omega...no reason to be fully suited up in non combat situations

Yay... let's take the armour off so Shepard can get shot and die instantly...

And why not be able to mix & match so you can have a shield harness & visor when in casual gear ?

Do you not get the bonus of your chosen headgear in hostile environments? I always thought the N7 replacement was just visual and the numbers didn't actually change, but I never tested it.
I wondered it too. If someone has rilevant data about this matter please let us know.

Jump off on a normal location and note health/shield numbers.
Jump off on a toxic location and note health/shield numbers.
I don't have sentry interface, so I can't do it myself.

When you're in a hostile environment and defaulted to using the breather helm you do indeed get its bonus.

Logic would dictate that it's replaced by the health bonus, but stranger things have happened in bioware games.

I would love to see Tali's reaction to this thread. Poor gal doesn't get to choose ANY kind of helmet!
Well, okay, should could try something different and it would only $@#*ing kill her.

Yeah. While I am a big fan of Miranda's and Samara's respective sweater pillows, they really should take a more sensible approach to combat protective gear.
It always baffles me why Jack is protected by kintetic barriers when she has no armor on that have the emitters to provide said barrier.
And how does Jack's shotgun clip onto the back of her pants without bringing her trousers down around her ankles when she runs? If she's going to be in street clothes all of the time, then she should be packing the SMG / Heavy Pistol sidearm configuration.
The devs really do need to go back to the ME1 style and have your squaddies wearing combat hard suits and breather helmets where appropriate.

Maybe jack/miranda/samara all use barrier and no shield?

And then there's the fact that soldiers wear armor because it helps protect them when the barriers fall. Not wearing armor because you can project a barrier is like not compartmentalizing your warship because you have armor plating.
