If you're talking about the PS3 version of the game, there is a patch coming soonish it seems:darkrose wrote...
Meh. I was hoping for DLC that would integrate into the main storyline. Even more, though, I was hoping for a patch. 1.03 is horribly bugged; I save compulsively, but I still hate the fact that I crash every other time I open my inventory.

Why, why, why are you releasing new DLC when you have not fixed the xbox 360 version of the game!?
I love the DA game, and I will happily admit I am a fanboy, but this complete ignorance from you devs in regards to the serious problems on the 360 version is disgusting! Please fix the game so we can continue to enjoy it, surely that's not too big of a thing to ask?
I thought it was just PS3 folks having trouble with the Sony firmware update, and PC folks having trouble not transfering their blood powers from Warden's Keep DLC into Awakening and other 1.03 issues.
360 folks are seriously having trouble too?
Indeed, I know most of PC gamers give Sweet FA about the game in Xbox... but if you mind to read the Tech support Xbox you will realise what's going on.... we cannot change the game or add mods, so I hope PC gamers will enjoy this DLC... oh yes, on PS3 it's the same or worst...

The point is that Darkspawn can't talk, they have no real mind and are merely killers led by the overwhelming archdemon. They do not trade, engage in romances and do all the little things that made Origins a roleplaying game. So as long as you don't consider tactical fights as roleplaying or that dlc will turn out differently and therefore also contradictory to the impression of Origins, that new dlc is a tactical sword fighting game but no roleplaying. To me roleyplaing does not demand to customize a character, but it does demand more than simply commanding mindless soldiers and slay as many enemies as possible.
That's still a role, though. Perhaps a dull one, yes. Depends on how it plays out, really. (How do we know that the vanguard won't speak? The more powerful hurlocks are, according to the lore, known to be capable of speech, even prior to the unfoldings in Awakening.) But I see your point.
We also have to take into account that this isn't a game we're talking about, here, it's a $5 DLC. How much "role playing" did any of the other DLCs offer, really? Well, except Shale, but hers was a special case, because of all of the unused content already available for her. But the others are both hour long romps which do little to develop any of your characters in any significant way.

I'm really not expecting much from this. It's $5 people. The idea sounds cool and expansion worthy, but for $5 I'll bet it'll likely be an intro sequence, a big battle at Denerim, and an epilogue, and not much (if anything) else. Think of it this way: Return to Ostagar was $5.
True. But I still think it will be an interesting deviance from the usual story, and like you said, its not like its expensive. I love the games that have a scenario that lets you play as the bad guys

If you were going to be a darkspawn one of the talking darkspawns would have been better. But being surrounded by mindless beings? I get enough of that at work - lol

On a side note, having just looked at the screen shots, It looks like Alistar went with the templar armor. So without you guidance he would have choosen the templar armor for himself instead of the warden commander armor or anything else. Also if Morrigan is in the final battle it must mean that her and Alistar performed the Dark Ritual. Would not have expected that from him.

If you consider this roleplaying, every game is a roleplaying game as you always play a role. Even the worst shooter you do not play as yourself but play a role. To me, simply playing a role does not make a game an rpg. And i agree, the former dlc's did not add that much to the roleplaying character of Origins, but they didnt take anything away of it either. That new dlc seems to be a different story.
Slashing and killing is not necessarily a bad thing, it's just not DAO for me. There are many games who exceeds in that, graphically, gameplay wise and more. DAO is a story and character driven game, that's why i bought and loved it, and therefore, everything that denies that strength by trying to build on something DA is simply not is not interesting to me. I like to play sword slashing games from time to time, but they are different in many respects from Origins and neither can mimic the other or should try to do so. That's my opinion.
Just like Bayonetta would offer some story and character driven additonal content. Would simply not work. Same is true vice versa for Origins. Focus on what the peple loved and what you're good at and do not try to mimic something you and you're game are not.

I'll reserve my final judgments until after this comes out, but for right now I'm not really finding this dlc to be very appealing.
When is the exact date? I just see May 2010 on the site

On the 360 there is a limit to title updates, DLC is a way to circumvent that, I hope there are some fixes in this DLC

On a side note, I'm not reading much into the screenshots, since I think we all know by this point that first look screenshots rarely have anything to do with what you see when you actually buy the product.
