A kobold? Who would want to have a party member that's a weakling evil race that is always killed in 2 hits? Oh, wait.... (I would imagine a similar approach could be taken with the darkspawn).

Seriously, get a grip and give us some info about a patch instead of this "pay to play evil" crap.
Viktor, didn't you promise a more timely and regular channel of communication? Where did that promise end? I didn't see any info on a patch since Awakening has been released, despite the fact that it should be your very first priority.

ugh call me me very inconsiderate to post this...but another DLC already?!!! seriously? how about fixing the game for the poor people who can't even play the awakening part before dishing out another DLC. I know the company is out to make money...nothing wrong with that in my book...but the way things are going i think it is hypocritical from EA and Bioware to do this. Basically they are telling people that cant play the game for various technical reasons to bite the dust and trying to addict the other group that does not that "many" problems even more...i know that the problem is to have 2 years of stuff or so for this game but for the love of god fix the mess first.
There are modders out there who have made mods to fix issues in the game and they are not even the coders of the game..is that so hard to do? BIo could at least release a hot fix for the stats and misc items that are broken, heck i would even give them a break on the BIG issues of the game...not rebalancing and fine tuning the game is a " no excuse" in my book! not from a big company with international resources.
this is real low....really low!!!

@Abriael_CG: Maybe it's Ea's fault? I can't see Bioware being the one's to actually think of something as ridiculous as a darkspawn dlc.
For what I'm concerned, EA and Bioware are one and the same, Bioware is fully owned by EA anyway. Too easy to point fingers at the corporate giant as a scapegoat to avoid taking responsibility.
Bioware has been known for not polishing their products in the past (both Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2, for instance, were left with a lot of issues after the last patch, and that was well before selling their souls to the big corporate giant), while EA has released plenty polished and supported products. So I'm not going to look for scapegoats honestly. They need to get their act straight.

But besides that, the whole 'eh, darkspawn are mindless losers, why would I want to play as one' seems a bit silly.
That's not really the problem people most have. It's either the lack of a patch [completely understandable] or this:
"I don't want to kill Alistair."
"The cutscene made me feel sick."
"I don't want the villains to win."
"This is Mass Effect 2's fault, it is ruining RPGs."
Basically, many DAO fans, particularly some that post on these boards, are downright obsessive about this [good but not great] RPG known as DAO.
It makes me a sad panda to read, really.

That depends. For all we know DA2 may be the Darkspawn Origins.
Many of us are already playing as darkspawn anyway - waiting in the dark, unable to do anything much, waiting for the sweet voice to call out, "there's a patch available, come and get it!"

A patch would be great. Barring a patch this looks like a nice piece of content.
The problem is that they shouldn't bar the patch.
When you release a flawed product, the very first priority should be to patch it so that people can enjoy what they already paid for, using your full development resources to that purpose.
Instead, they continue to put out new (and often negligible) content in order to urge people to pay more while they still can't enjoy fully the original product. This is shameful.

I can see a "dlc delayed" message come
soon and it will come out when it comes out....i can smell all the way
from edmonton.
if it was delayed in order to put their whole development resources where they should be (patching the game), then I'd be all for it.
Seriously, playing the darkspawn? who the hell cares?

Then I realize that most people don't read or post on the BioWare forums.
I think it's an awesome idea. I admit, while I enjoy the character interaction and the development of your fellow NPCs, my personal interest is in the whole DA gameworld. The chance to explore how Darkspawn interact on their own? To get to effectively re-watch a movie I've played through a dozen times already from a new set of eyes and a perspective opposite what I've always seen?
This sounds awesome. A very cool idea, all due props.
Patches/bug squashing are generally different groups of people from writers/developers I don't see where wanting a patch for something has anything at all to do with new content. Seriously, do you think they only have one coder and he has to split his time between both jobs? Do you think David Gaider and Chris Priestly normally would be fixing code issues but get cut loose to write and develop new content in their spare time?
Anyway. Not everyones cup of tea I'm sure but I admit - it's enough to tempt me back from tabletop for a bit.

Saw the trailer and I'm going to pass...Seeing Alistair and Morrigan getting their heads bashed in is something I won't partake in.
Agreed, but I'll be skipping the trailer, too. I've spent hundreds of hours having my PC fight along side these characters and getting to know them. I can't think of anything I want to see less that isn't on the news.
