Seriously though, I posted in the other forum jokingly that they'd let us role-play a darkspawn.  Didn't think anyone would actually do it!  Obviously, this is a campaign designed to fail.  Instead of fighting your PC, you take on Alistair and his allies.  "Ogres!  Grab the shiny one!!!"

i wonder why more and more games are doing the fact that u can play both sides. dont like that. in my eyes the atmosphere of the game gets hurt. playing against an enemy - you never can control - has something more "unpredictable". played the enemy once - you always know them and there abilities too well. dont know if u understand what i iam thinking of .

This sounds very interesting. Not sure I understand the reason "interesting but I'll skip". As I'm sure this will give more insight into the darkspawn themselves which should intrigue anyone who played this game. I doubt the entirety of it is just hack and slash. At minimum wait to see the video

The only thing I am curious about is aren't the entire Darkspawn controlled by the Archdemon at this point in time? I believe this DLC would be fun, but I am wondering what it would have been like to have been playing some of the Darkspawn who worked for the Architect at the time.



*I really hope players get to play as Darkspawn who killed Duncun.

@SonvarTheMighty : reason most people are using that (including myself) i have no desire to play as a 1D Darkspawn that is just some mindless toon, plus, a mod on dragonagenexus which has been out for awhile that lets you play as a army of darkspawn and that is free.



I respect the devs thinking of dlc like this, but much better stuff is coming out if your a pc owner and it's free and has more fresh ideas.

Wait, if we play as Darkspawn, does that mean we will be level capped and scale? The add on might last 10 minutes as Darkspawn usually die in 2 hits from the player character.



I can imagine the flow. Create Darkspawn, equip. Charge into battle, watch 10 group members die, then get ganged up on by overpowered blood mage/templars and die in 3 hits. Game Over!

DLC I would enjoy seeing:



Playing as Duncan pre-Origins. Essentially play as Duncan as he discovers the arrival of a new Blight (basically it would be akin to "playing" the opening cinematic, just a bit more fleshed out). End it off with Duncan going to <insert origin story> to recruit a new Warden. He could then provide some nifty items to help the new Warden. Multiple playthroughs could end with him choosing a different origin story recruit, thereby unlocking items for each origin.



So while you wouldn't get to make a character for that type of DLC, you ultimately do benefit the character(s) you will make.



Anyhoo, just a thought. I find the darkspawn interesting only as a place for my sword (BW did a wonderful job making me hate the nasty things lol).
