I think it's an awesome idea. I admit, while I enjoy the character interaction and the development of your fellow NPCs, my personal interest is in the whole DA gameworld. The chance to explore how Darkspawn interact on their own? To get to effectively re-watch a movie I've played through a dozen times already from a new set of eyes and a perspective opposite what I've always seen?

This sounds awesome. A very cool idea, all due props.

I don't think you've read fully the Q & A on how this is going to work.

I would be fascinated to play a party of four intelligent, sentient, speaking darkspawn that actually have dialogue, and maybe through that vehicle get to learn more about their .... worldview, if you want. That might be interesting.

What this DlC is going to be, apparently, is some form of quasi-RTS set during the siege of Denerim. You're going to be a lone darkspawn commander selecting & "ordering" around dozens and dozens of other darkspawn on the battlefield.

On the one hand, I admit some interest in trying out some monster abilities, finally, like ... Grab. Dog can Overwhelm and so can the Shapeshifted Spider, but your chars can't do that.

I guess I can get over my natural inclination to not want to play the bad guys and have them win.

On the other ... it somewhat bugs me that not only is this in some alternative timeline that has nothing to do with the story told so far, nor will it apparently impact the story in the future (except to give you an item, apparently), but also it is not really going to be playing more RPG'ing. You're going to essentially be playing an RTS "warhammer" minigame within the DA environment

It's novel ... I'm still trying to decide if it's good.

As much as I'd like to smash Alistair with an ogre I just can't bring myself to spend money on a game that has had no support since day one. I mean in six+ months we're supposed to believe that they couldn't even give us some small fixes, when they continually push more DLC out? When are they going to learn that support is supposed to work both ways, they can't expect us to keep giving them money without actually fixing anything. I'm gonna pass on this as well, I'm not supporting a company that doesn't support it's fans in return, plus it's probably gonna be buggy as hell like most of the DLC. Although it is very tempting just to beat on Alistair, he reminded me way too much of Carth from KOTOR. Posted Image

Having watched the trailer and read the dev interview, I can't believe that there's a product with Dragon Age on it about which I'm this apathetic. If you're the type of person who likes hack n' slash, wouldn't you want a new setting and characters, and not something recycled and half-assed?

Until Bioware starts paying writers and voice actors again, it's $5 too much. I suppose the Alistair- and Morrigan-haters will get their kicks.

Are you kididng me that would suck! There'd be little role playing value, along with very little dialogue and a million other things that would make it a total waste of resources and money.

"If our fans demonstrate particular support for one type of content over another, however, we'll obviously do our best to provide more of that sort of content in the future." Rob Bartel on GameStop Q&A.

I really hope this is true, seeing the "positive" support this dlc is already getting.

Patches/bug squashing are generally different groups of people from writers/developers I don't see where wanting a patch for something has anything at all to do with new content. Seriously, do you think they only have one coder and he has to split his time between both jobs? Do you think David Gaider and Chris Priestly normally would be fixing code issues but get cut loose to write and develop new content in their spare time?

Chris Priestly for sure won't work on ANY DLC nor patches, given that he's a community manager, what he does is managing the community, not developing anything. Might want to get your facts straight.

They sure don't have only ONE coder. That's why all their coders should concentrate on patching the game, given that at the moment it's still seriously flawed.

You seem to think that game developers work with aìrtight compartments in which developers cannot be redirected in case of need. Lemme give you an hint: they don't. If Bioware redirected most of their energies on patching the game, it'd come much faster.

@Abriael_CG: Maybe it's Ea's fault? I can't see Bioware being the one to actually think of something as ridiculous as a darkspawn dlc.

That depends. For all we know DA2 may be the Darkspawn Origins.

Many of us are already playing as darkspawn anyway - waiting in the dark, unable to do anything much, waiting for the sweet voice to call out, "there's a patch available, come and get it!"

LOL!!!

btw am I the only one who has had no problems with either of the DA games???

Wow,  this thread is booming, 20 pages in 12 hours.  I don't know if my opinion is going to be seen by moderators or not,  but I'll post it anyway.

I really love the Dragonage world.  It's well done and very re-playable.  I will probably buy "Darkspawn Chronicles" soon after it comes out.  I look forward to seeing what else they come up with.

That being said, before more DLC is completed, it would be great if the DLC I already purchased worked completely.  Warden's keep and Return to Ostagar and Stone Prisoner are all great additions.  But everything you saved up from those packs doesn't work in Awakenings!    Not to mention the little glitches in the expack itself.  I'm disappointed that the designers didn't take more care to iron out the kinks, and I'm very concerned that this will end up like KOTOR 2, which never got finished.

There are days I suspect that the only thing that will make most people happy is if all further DLC are based on the fanfic they have personally written.

Then I realize that most people don't read or post on the BioWare forums.

If a thousand people complain in forums the idea sucks but they sell a million copies of the DLC then it follows that Bioware will make more of that type.

Converserly If a thousand people in the forum say they love an idea of a DLC but Bioware only sells a thousand copies then no more of that type will be made.

Granted those are extreme examples but its the sales of the DLC's that drive content not forum support.

Despite Bioware probably having seperate teams for both content and bug fixing/patching, I really would like to see them hold off on any more content and concentrate on fixing the many, many issues with 1.03 and Awakening.

To be fair, it's probably just easier to let the bugs slide and use the toolset to crank out content for DLC. At least Bioware get a monetary return through DLC. That may simply be the crux of the issue. DLC is profitable, patches are not.

Let me rephrase that.  What I meant is a Darkspawn Orgins Campaign with the Architect and Disciples.

Please fix the dex glitch on consoles, and while we are it, how about patching awakenings. I would be way more excited for these patches than new DLC.

Please fix your game.

Same here.  I know this is just going to be hack and slash, but I am always interested in what would happen if the bad guys won.

About DarkSpawn Orgin/camp..How about doin the Darkspawn as telepathic since they are bound by tainted blood. Here is somethin' that was goin thru my head:(1)start as hurlock.gen.shriek(human/dwarf/elf)in deep roads bein born by Brood Mother.(2)Fight your way to the top of food chain to determine your class(alpha/emmisary)and this could happen like Dwarven proving except bein done DS way(kill off your brethern).(3)Once "growing up" part is done,go look for Dark god and bash some dwarves.Meet the rest of Brethren (2 emmisary,2 alpha,Ogre, and 2 shrieks,u can add blight wolf(aka mabari)) and awaken the Dragon.(4)Time for war..so u and ur pack pop out in Kocari wilds and as u butcher humans u meet up with wardens.Wardens beat snot out of u(kinda like tower of Ishal Deja vu).(5) U are wounded and back in Deep roads..u get dream(order) from Dragon to stop Wardens by any means necesary...so ur first target is village Wardens end up in...and story goes on and on..Basiclly flesh out Dark spawn, their Orgin, and new skills and talents and u get very twisted version of Orginal
