Awesome DLC imho! I just watched the trailer and all I can is that this is a brilliant move by Bioware. There will probably be more DLC but come on be real! I am on my 3rd playthrough and there's little they can add to make me want to do a 4th one.

People talk about a new companion.. if he/she is like Kasumi and no effing thanks!

Good job Bioware ;)

Pointless. Utterly pointless, and all the more aggravating with the *still* outstanding bugs of the original game. Extremely disappointed, Bioware. I haven't bought Awakening, and I sure as heck ain't buying this lame attempt at further milking those who happened to enjoy your flawed but engrossing initial product.

Play as a Darkspawn and defeat characters i have come to enjoy very much, especially morrigan?Posted Image

I'm gonna have to pass on that.Sorry Bioware

THink about it mate, its what role playing is all about, hell it'll hurt like hell to go up against Morrigan and Alistair but its a pretty fressh concept and may give more insight to the Blight, a way of knowing your foes better in order to have an edge in battle and tactics... just a thought :)

If the hack'n'slash fest will give us any insight or provide any kind of story at all I'm going to eat my socks!

Well most people hated Grishnak and Ugluk in the LOTR books but got an idea of the brutal and miserable life Orcs lead, commanded by terror, so this it should give us a different perspective.
How many walked right into the Emissary fireballs not thinking that darkspawn couldnt care less about their troops
I'm not sure if you get my meaning, but I dont expect any kind of story in this dlc, i expect that tactical experience of using the Darkspawn may well help improve my tactics against them

Very dissapointing.   I hate playing the side of evil so i will be giving this a miss.  It is dissapointing cause I love this game.  It is the best game I have played ever and to see the developement team spending their resources on a DLC limitng us to play as darkspawn is a missed opurtunity I feel. I just spent 30+ gaming hours hating them and defeating them, why would I want to play them???

What i really want to do is to conitnue the life of my character.  Oh well, hope another DLC comes out soon cause I cant wait.

Hope you guys enjoy it.

Exactly Tezza...i think Bioware better think long and hard over their decision to release this as DLC. Most were looking forward to a companion DLC.

just because they are releasing this dlc doesn't mean there won't be a companion one in the future. They need to appeal to everyone by offering variety in dlc. There are a lot of people like this idea and you'd get complaints from some  if they released a companion dlc that they didn't release a more interesting dlc or a dlc for a different companion. I personally am not keen on this one and probably won't get it but a lot of people are looking forward to it. If it doesn't interest you don't get it and hopefully the next dlc will appeal more to you.

I like seeing different sides, I'm not one to talk about "good" and "evil" (which are relative values anyway). But I'm not interested in this DLC at all. Playing someone like the Architect, with his doubts, and having different options for your actions could be cool. This hack&slash fest... well, this is not why I like Bioware games. I'll pass.

^^ This.

Variety is the spice of life.

Plus, there are 8 (not including Dog but including Shale) companions available to you. What happens if they don't release the "right" companion's DLC?

Like Sass says, perhaps the next one will appeal to you a little more.

That's why there are multiple game companies. Bioware was supposed to be about storytelling games, even their motto is "BioWare's vision is to deliver the best story-driven games in the world". Where's the story in a pure hack&slash dlc?

Not for me I don't think...

I'm probably too soft to kill off my pals, especially Zevran, Dog, and Shale (if they're in it).

I might buy this out of curiousity later on, but not until I KNOW that there's going to be a worthwhile continuation of my character and LI/companions from DAO, which is what I really want.

It's something different. That's all.

Insight into the Darkspawn is interesting to me.

A story-driven DLC for some of the campanions wouldn't be, Leliana, Oghren, Zevran for example.

Moreover, Chronicles is just an add-on to an existing game. Not every expansion has to be epic.

At the end of the day, you don't like it, don't buy it. You have a choice.

Plus, you've described it as a "pure hack and slash dlc". I didn't see evidence of that in the release. Yes, it isn't going to be about an ogre and his dog ... but that doesn't mean it's all hack and slash.

BW's story-telling skills are impressive. I doubt they'd go down that road.

I will eat my hat if they do.

Can't say I'm overly impressed with the idea of this DLC. Not least because it appears to lack any RPG element.

And, as an 'alternative' take on the Origins universe it seems a little pointless when in all reality it will just be a small one off event, with no further consequences, nothing tying it in to a wider tale.

Now, if it had been a DLC that allowed players to take part in events in the existing Origins universe but from the Darkspawn's perspective at key moments where the Darkspawn were on the ascendance I might have shown more interest.

For example, playing the role of the Darkspawn as they assault Ostagar. Or Lothering. That would have been far more satisfying from both a 'wargaming' aspect and a role playing one.

But beating up Alistair and Morrigan in the final battle...not my cuppa.

However, I'm glad they are keeping the DLC flowing, even if not all of it is to my liking. Some here seem to think they should hold off on all DLC until various bugs with the core game are fixed with further patches.

Going down that route is a no win situation. Games are often still receiving patches several years out from original release, holding off on new content until every bug was fixed would annoy the majority of players more than the existing bugs annoy others.

I've played both Origins and Awakenings twice now, am aware of some of the most complained about bugs but they have not proved to be a serious distraction, they have not occured regularly nor enough times for me to feel they need fixing at all costs before new content is released.

And having played the games twice through now, I certainly am eager for new content, rather than playing yet again through a fully patched game where in most cases I wouldn't notice much difference between the game as it is now.

DAA sort of put the kibosh on any "continuing" adventures with your PC in DAO. I guess they could try more of the RtO it happens before the end of the game you've already finished but unlike RtO where I was still in the Origins game my character is now off to in Awakenings world - and is actually done with that.

They almost have to branch but the problem is that for any short 1 hour style DLC thing there's never gonna be a lot of RP elements in it.

The positive: $5. I like that you don't charge ripof prices for the DLC's.

The negative: CTD, bug, CTD, bug, glitch, CTD in DAO and DAA. I would have liked if you had priorotized fixing the existing game before trying to get more money from us.

It is also obviously clear why there isn't a new patch ready.

Nice, thanks BioWare! :o

I'm so buying this.  I love the ability to be able to play both sides of the coin.  I love that about games and I'm glad BioWare gave us the same opportunity.
Video preview looks great!  Hope to see the DLC out soon.

Well, I would have enjoyed commanding the horde assault on Ostagar.

Aim, take out King Cailan. ( we know that's what actually happens but a DLC where the aim is to make it happen, using tactics would have been far better than this new release )

The point being it fits in with the lore and seamlessly fits in with the larger game arc whilst addding the different persepective.

Besides, succesfully taking out Ostagar and Calain from the perspective of the Darkspawn, assuming you get the strategy right, would then have given you the opportunity to rid the world of that sadistic, murderous Warden also known as Duncan.

Poor Jory, my female mage had eyes for him...well no she didn't but Duncan was a ruthless guy, so had to go :)

Seriously. Am I the only one who has had no problem with glitches on any of the DA games or DLC?

It seems to be so.

DAO.. Loghain likes to be a ghost in my endings.
Alistair marries my noble, yet Anora ends up in the ending
Broken Dialog
Crashes "not many" but any is annoying.
Losing armor set buff randomly, must remove a peice and place it back on to get the bonus again.
This is just to name a few. Most of which, I manage to work around..

Awakenings.
My rogue never detects traps!! wth? But my companion " a lesser rogue with less cunning" always sees them?

crashes "more than DAO" I have so many saves just to avoid having to back track due to crashing.

A stupid one. If you get one of your companions to late. You can not do the joining. the dialog won't allow it. Pushes the final battle instead.

I am sure there are more. I am still on my first cup of coffee.

I'm surprised at the number of tempests in this teacup. It's just a little $5 DLC that will be a bit of AU fun for some.

I'm curious to see what this DLC will be like. At the very least it'll be different becoming a darkspawn, after having dedicated many hours to their destruction!
