yeah the dlc sounds cool enough but i cant even see the DLCs let alone downloade any of the ones i have all rdy bought, and it dosent matter if its another team who makes the DLCs then the ones who makes the patches, i will not spend one damn cent on DAO until they fix the game so i can actualy Play it.
I totally agree on that point.

(Mass Effect 2 was pretty good, so I haven't lost all my faith in BioWare)

I understand why some folks won't pick it up (evil, not playing your PC, etc) - but for those who are game for something different it's a lot of fun. I never get tired of stomping around as an Ogre. After being grabbed and used as a punching bag umpteen million times it's delicious to grab someone and dish it out for once.

I will read player reviews after it is out to see if it does add anything interesting to the story, but I'm feeling pretty likely to pass on this one.

Just to clear up something. As soon as you complete Darkspawn Chronicles, anytime you create a new character in DAO or Awakening you'll get the DLC item. So all of your characters will get it.

I don't think it would quite work like that, seeing as how the various darkspawn are already derivative of various other races. They've got a weird method of reproduction going on there...
Yeah, I'm pretty sure most darkspawn are actually genderless (what would they use it for ??).
Broodmothers on the other hand...
Female Darkspawn in the book "The Calling (Dragon Age)".
I keep meaning to read that...

Unless you count what happens to some of the characters, but thats not exactly the same thing.
If they turn into ghouls/broodmothers, that is consistent wtih what we've seen already in the game.
I just keep waiting for the Dragon Age books to show up at Half-Price books (as all good books eventually do), then I'll pick them up.

Thank you Bioware, I am purchasing this on day one. I really hope the trailer shows up on Live soon. Thanks for more DA goodness yet again.
Its a shame that the game on the 360 doesn't update with all the latest trailers. I guess that would be hard due to downloading, but perhaps a stream could be done from the extras menu if your connected to LIVE?

OnT: The fact that i will be able to kill Alistair is reason enough for me to buy this DLC. And hopefully Wynne and Leliana too.

So the repsonse to critiscism of awkaenings lacking story continuity and deeper relationships was to release THIS...are they pruposely trying to drive away origins fans...I did not buy awakenings (playe dit once for free and really did not care for it) and I do not htink I would even play THIS for free...how can their possibly be ANY role playing elements?
same as the above comment. Awakening was fun, and it continued the story quite well (what the hero does after saving the world) it just didnt let you bump the elf chick which pissed some people off.
you should lighten up and enjoy the fun aspect of it. at least your not getting shafted like the mass effect people with the "new" armor DLC
I've been enjoying Awakening for what it is (still haven't finished it yet, got distracted with Heavy Rain and my Bioshock/Bioshock 2 bundle and set it down for a while). It's a lot lighter and quicker than the base game, but I'm still having fun with it. And I hope to finish it before the 18th.
But I'll be playing Red Dead Redemption (which also drops on the 18th) then, not the Darkspawn Chronicles. Yes, Awakening has been an enjoyable little distraction (aside from a few bugs on the PC version). But DC just doesn't strike me as the same kind of fun.
Certainly not as much fun as riding the range as a turn of the century gunslinger!

You can be ruthless in DA:O or in Awakenings. I mean, you can let people go, leave people to rot in a cage, just kill them outright, side with thieves and rogues... you can give the people grain, or you can choose to slaughter them. I don't understand how it's always "goody two shoes" all the time. (Granted, I have a hard time killing peasants, but I know that is an option.)

I'm saying no to this DLC but I'm happy to offer 1000(yes 1000!) Bioware points for a patch instead. I'm serious. Credit card's out. Alarms should be going off at Bioware now.
Don't tempt them or it might actually happen...
Trust me, if EA could find a way to charge for even a patch they would do it in a second, they're already looking into charging for demos...

so I am guessin this about 50/50 for DLC.Some people want it other don't..awsome,and about patch thingie i am guessin' it's mostly people with either lousy PC,XBOX or PS3.I did expirence coupla slow downs durin' the play of orginal but nothin major. For people with XBOX and PS3 I have question? Should I go screamin around beacuse I can't play FABLE 2,God o War,or Final Fantasy,or beacuse I can't download free content for Fallout 3......or beacuse ur precoius litle consoles are stealin' PC game market..I really, really dunno..
Ummmm, I'm confused here Nino... but I think I know sort of what you are getting at.
If you are talking about people whose consoles don't work, that is mostly PS3. There are apparently some 360 glitches, but most 360 players can play fine.
Now, if this were a PC exclusive game, yes, folks crying about not having it on their console would be the same as the fanboys crying about, oh, Brutal Legend not coming to PC (games like that and the other PS3 exclusive RPs are what finally made me break down and get a PS3 instead of crying about console exclusivity). I understand their desire to play, but it just isn't coming to your platform. Sorry.
This is entirely different.
For one, there are also plenty of PC folks who are having issues playing the game correctly (I, for instance, am having trouble with the Blackmarsh quests in Awakening letting me finish them
For another, this is a multi-platform game. Folks who bought it and paid for it aren't off the mark in expecting they should be able to play it, and it's not a bad thing for them to come in here and ask "hey, before I commit to buying this DLC, is it going to be broken on my console like the other DLC is?"
Not the same thing as crying about platform exclusivity at all.

In addition, it will say that you should buy DA2 in which an Orlaisian Grey Warden (YOU) will have to stop the blight before they destroy Orlais just like they did in Ferelden.
Nah. It's in an alternative universe/timeline. You get to watch it happen, then you find Bobby Ewing in the shower, and realize it was all just a bad dream.
It makes sense to use it as canon ending for DA2 though. Because then you can´t import your Warden and they´ll save themselves a hell of a lot of work (or considering Awakenings, a hell of a lot of failure) that is caused by continuing all the different choices for each player.
Shhhh, don't give them any ideas!!

Oops, I just made another same sort of post elsewhere. I offered 1200 bioware points in that one.

I happened to sit beside one of the designers of Darkspawn Chronicles at GDC in Vancouver a couple days ago and we chatted a bit. He said that the team that does the patches is separate from the teams (yes, plural!) that do DLC. So methinks much of the angst in this forum is misdirected. Anyway, he said the design team that made Darkspawn Chronicles started after Awakenings and did not work on any previous DA DLC content.
~ Aly
Granted. Folks all recognize by now that DLC teams and Patch teams are separate.
I still don't think that makes this a less valid forum for asking "Are things going to be fixed in time for me to play this DLC?" or even the generic "I won't support you by buying any more of your DLC until this issue is addressed."
Two different teams? Yes. Both working hard? Undobutedly.
But also, ONE game and ONE player base being impacted by these interrelated issues.
I can see the point of those who have paid for DLC that still won't work though, and empathize with their frustration (and I'm one of the lucky ones *knock wood* that can play my game on PC without any major, gamebreaking glitches... so far anyway, still haven't finished Awakening... got my first black screen freeze last night in the Blackmarsh, and it still won't let me close the tears in the veil).
I think this is definitely one of the places where it is valid to say "Yeah, you know, all this DLC, I'm not buying anymore until the base game is fixed, even if it is being done by two separate teams. Thanks."
Now the folks crying about EA focusing on this INSTEAD of the patch are, indeed, not reading the posts. But otherwise, I say complaints are valid.
