Just heard something floating around, max approval for all thrall types, seems viable.

It's about the only thing I haven't tried so far, so it's plausible. I tried to see if Alistair could kill the Archdemon with his companions by holding the Vanguard, the ogre, an emissery, and a hurlock back, but alas the arch demon managed to obliterate the entire party on his own with the help from I think a blight wolf and maybe another hurlock.

Would have been cool if you could have two prossible endings. Win or lose against them. ^_^

Yeah I tried losing, set it to nightmare to try and help, but the most ive got it to is the archdemon shouting, my strength is waning vanguard!

For those that have played it, how quickly did you finish it? Is it basically just the last Denerim assault mission from Origins in length? And is there any interesting lore or story elements in it at all?

I accidentally played through on easy the first time and it took about an hour and a half. Second playthrough is on hard and I'm probably on track for 2 hours. It's rather fun to play with different party compositions. I noticed that the respawn rate is proportional to game difficulty (enemies respawn faster, allies respawn slower) which makes things play a bit differently. Next playthrough I'm going to try solo on nightmare. The play style is definitely more hack-and-slash than Origins or Awakenings but it works really well. If followers die then you just recruit more from the horde of reinforcements that you always have in tow. This makes it a bit easier to play overall than Origins or Awakenings but it keeps the game moving (i.e. you aren't reloading all the time and battles in Darkspawn Chronicles have actual ebb and flow as each side is killed off and reinforced).

As for the lore, the codex entries are a worthwhile read for once. Without revealing too much, the most compelling story development takes place in a back alley of the Market. It's a scripted event (i.e. not a cutscene) so you have to actually pay attention or you'll miss it.

Back to work,
~Aly

POSSIBLE SPOILER

I just finished it and I must say, I found it funny how Leliana becomes Alistair's lover in this alternate timeline.

Is this true? Because I might have a thing for this pairing.

Yep, the sense of grief in his face, when he looks at her dead carcass, before he inevitably gets stabbed by the Vanguard. Oh and of course this appears in the codex "Leliana was a lay sister of the Chantry. In a vision, the Maker urged her to leave the cloister and battle the Blight. Her skill at archery, evidence of a surprising past, brought her to the attention of the Grey Warden named Alistair. She soon joined him as an ally-- and, rumor says, a lover".

This is going to make some of the Alistair fangirls squee with delight and some of them defile the Ashes on their next playthrough.

Hehe, including you? :)

I am unsure so this is why I am asking, is this DLC for Origins or Awakening?

I finally managed to get this working ! It's another proof that Vista is worst for computers than the DLC is for Denerim. Hmm

Services.msc

Activate Dragon Age updater. that's all.

The whole thing kinda lagged for me. Especially when picking up items.

But anyways, theres supposed to be 2 other achievements but I have no idea what they are considering I did pretty much all the missions (except for the kill the innocent/survivors mission).

Well there you go. That has to be one of them then. You can't really be an evil, terrorizing Darkspawn if you don't slaughter the innocents and any straggling survivors, now can you?

So is it any good without spoiling anything (although I'm guessing we know what will happen)? I've bought all the DLC except Feastday so far and will probably buy this later.

I love this DLC though I was hoping you would have a longer time commanding the Darkspawn horde from say Ostagar .. oh well guess the Destruction of Denerem will have to do!

For the PC I'd recommend having the points and "buying" from the game client, Downloadable Content. When it shows there, there will be the "buy" button and d/l starts immediately. I had some problems purchasing their last DLC via web and it never showing for d/l in the game client later, for some long days...

There's an achievement for keeping the first ogre alive, according to the chief designer interview for GameSpot.

When you start DAO Launcher, select Configure. Then go to Repair and 'Clear Download Cache'.

I had the same problem. It didn't appear in in-game DLC store until I did that trick.

Hope it helps.

The last achievement is to gain maximum approval with all types of thralls. Just finished it, less heartbreaking than I thought it would be, as there's only one character dying cutscene. And Shriek rules! Thanks for the fun, Bioware.

Oh, by a strange coincidence, it's happen that 10 secondes before seeing the barrel, you get an emissary...

With a fireball spell.

This! I just love my Shriek.

The DLC was amazing, just pure adrenaline.

About the barrels in the Alienage, just throw the fire ball/fire bomb in the area of the barrel. That worked for me, just make sure that the barrel is in the area of effect.
