How can you reach that end?
When I wanted to marry Alistair with my elf mage Alistair said he couldn´t and killed himself by defeating the Archdemon. Ali was unhardened, too.

Aeducan was a dude. I am nto sure about the romance thing. But you could have requested to be his chancellor and you need to do the ritual.

What my Aeducan did was put Alistair on the throne and make himself his chancellor. Since Alistair is still an unhardened fool, that means Aeducan is the one ruling. I believe it's called "the evil chancellor trope". I personally love that ending and the Aeducan I created.
Paragon Chancellor Dain Aeducan. Rings so beautifully in the ear lol

It's the best way to rule: from behind the scenes. That way, if you make a bad choice and things turn sour, it's the figurehead/public puppet that gets the axe, not you.

Only HNF characters can marry Alistair, hardened or not.  There is a mod that opens the marriage route to all origins, but IMO it breaks game lore pretty severely.

Precisely, it's The Power behind The Throne.
Hence why I am fascinated with the Illusive Man.

But the problem here is that the Illusive man *is* the figurehead. He is just very elusive.

It's one reason I never elect to become Queen in my HNF playthroughs. Public faces are targets. Under constant scruitiny. The little people behind the throne and out of the limelight can do so much more. No committees and Landsmeets to raise objections or demand transparancy.

Much better to work things out of sight, out of mind. It's one reason Top Secret Black OP government projects and programs produce often mind blowing results.

But Cerberus is very secretive and from what we know, the Illusive has huge influence on the Systems Alliance as well as control over several corporations, without revealing himself publically.

Cerberus is very small (150 so members at a time), so yea the Illusive Man is the clear head of the organisation. But he has a lot of weight in galactic (or at least human) politics considering Cerberus' size, while being behind the scenes.

Yes, cause certainly all of us hate Alistair. I don't find him annoying, or his jokes bad. In fact I laugh at most of them.

As I said. The only thing I hate about him is how the writers decided to **** with the Landsmeet thing.

That's pretty much the same schtick I had with my power-hungry mage I played. Since I couldn't become king I put an unhardened alistair on the throne and remained as chancellor all the while manipulating the weak-minded Alistair behind the scenes.
My mage was the true ruler of Ferelden but no one knew it.

Such a great ending.

If you don't like it, ignore it. If it's a conversation that keeps coming up, then it's a conversation that people still want to have.

I don't hate Alistair. I wish I'd gotten a chance to smooth things over with him. But you don't always get what you want. I'd rather deal with Alistair's protest than execute someone I didn't want to execute.

My mage was the true ruler of Ferelden but no one knew it.

Except according to the epilogue if you're the chancellor to an unhardened Alistair then everything grinds to a halt whenever you're not there and everyone realizes who really has control.

In response to calling Loghain's execution "murder" further up the thread, I have to disagree. I really saw it more as a necessary cementing of Alistair's undisputed claim to the throne.

He *had* to be the one to defeat Loghain in single combat, and he *had* to be the one to mete out the justice that was due Loghain. Anora being there didn't matter a whit to me. She is a queen, and she has seen executions before.

That it's her father who was executed is harsh, but she had played the most dangerous game. And lost. It was a politically wise move for Alistair to execute Loghain then and there.

Well maybe I´ll try it some day. Unfortunately, it will most probably conflict with Equal love, dialogue tweaks and all the other stuff I have.

I don´t care whether or not it breras game lore. According to the lore, my bloodmage should have been able to mindcontrol everyone at the landsmeet, forcing Loghain to surrender and then making someone propose her as Queen - which woulld  be accepted, because they do what she wants:devil::devil::devil:

Alas, that´s not so, so the game broke the lore first.

If you are putting Alistair up as king and you think that you need to make and example of Loghain to show that Alistair can hack it, or if you think rebellions would rise against you in Loghain's name, I can see that as being a legitimate reason to have Alistair execute him.

Well, most of the time I have Alistair be king (either with or without Anora) and just now for the 1st time I opted to spare Loghain. I can't help but feel like a jerk though when you spare Loghain knowing all the garbage he has caused the Wardens and Alistair personally.

But like its been mentioned, I think Alistair's reaction makes sense to a certain extent- what with making Loghain a Warden cheapening it and joining the Wardens should be an honor and all. But my issue is how Alistair is willing to just quit the Wardens on the eve of the battle against the Blight that will decide the fate of Ferelden. Extreme hate or not, couldn't he have put aside his personal feelings just to fight the last battle and then go pout? If being a Warden is such an honor to him, then why is he just going to ostensibly leave the Wardens and Ferelden out to dry in its hour of greatest need?

I think Gaider mentioned it in an old thread, but I wonder what Alistair would have done if Duncan survived Ostagar and still opted to recruit Loghain- would Alistair still have had his little hissy fit and rage quit being a Warden?

I don't see how Alistair can honestly expect any conscripted Warden (and he knows if they are based on what he says at the funeral) to feel joining the GW is an honor.

He was just making excuses. If he is so adamant at preserving Grey Warden honor, then abandoning the fight is not how you do it.

It's funny how hardened Alistair losses approval if you tell him you are making Anora Queen, even though he was AGAINST it at Castle Redcliff.

I am starting to develop hatred for hardened Alistair. He just starts to seem more and more like a ****** to me.
