If you don't like it, don't buy it. Sales or lack thereof speak loader than a million words on this forum and if enough people don't buy it they'll rethink their ideas. If enough people buy it then there's enough interest that the complainers will just have to realise that some dlc they have to sit out.
Yes most people get why you don't like it, and they understand, but at the end of the day, you get what Bioware make and if you like you buy if you don't you wait for the next one.

I mean, I know you'll be the 'evil guys' but I don't wanna take the risk of ruining the story for myself.

I'd like an educated guess here - Will Darkspawn chronicles have any relevance to Awakening you think? I've yet to get that expansion (as I was told I should wait for patch-fixes before playing)

No, it's a replay of the ending Origins battle in Denerim, but from the Darkspawn's perspective. BioWare has basically said that it's standalone - alternate universe - with no effect to the rest of our game.
And still...
Do. Not. Want.

The forum exists to discuss the games. I suppose we could all "shut up and play" or don't play, but that would pretty much make the forums irrelevant, eh?

People on here are complaining about this dlc as if they have an entitlement to get the dlc they personally want. There are a lot of people that like this idea and are looking forward to it. If they'd released a leliaina romance dlc there would have been all the zevran fans moaning and vice versa. Whatever they release there will always be people that don't like it.

I'm guessing, though, that BioWare loves to have responses in this forum, so that they can compare actual sales to the chatter in this thread an others like it. This is the place where we get to tell them why we don't want to buy it. If enough people buy and like it, so be it. I don't begrudge anyone that....if enough don't buy it and explain why on this forum, BioWare will have a clearer idea of what went wrong. Sounds like a win-win scenario to me.

Not true. I didn't personally want a darkspawn DlC, but as I said, although it's something I never personally asked for, I would have played a darkspawn DlC where I got to roleplay sentient darkspawn. This is not an opportunity for that. It's a minigame where I'm using nameless darkspawn puppets in a massive warhammer style battle.
Now BTW as the end of the official announcement they said: "We want to hear from fans about what kinds of DlC they do and don't like".
So that's exactly what I'm doing: telling them what I don't like, and going further, and being specific as to why, so maybe they might get an idea of what I would like.
DlC for a roleplaying game that involve roleplaying. Imagine that!

I just want to make sure I understand, is the reason that everybody's pissed off because this DLC is about killing beloved companions, or because it is likely not going to have a significant plot or contribution to the plot and just be a series of combat encounters, a combination of those, or a different reason all together?
Yay run-on sentence.
For me it's the no plot hack and slash issue that has me not interested in this DLC. As others have said, I'd be fine with playing a darker character and killing my former companions if there was a story driven reason to do so, like playing Loghain or a Loghain supporter. Or playing one of the intelligent darkspawn from Awakenings.
Someone upthread mentioned GTA games (Cybant, I think), and I just wanted to say, I love the GTA franchise. You do play a hardened criminal in those games and you kill lots and lots of people. But the stories and characters are well written, and while not an RPG, it is possible to get into the character's head and feel their world from their point of view. The killing is only mindless if you choose to engage in murdering random NPCs on the street while not doing a mission: you are mostly killing other criminals or cops as part of the story missions. My point being, this darkspawn DLC is too mindless hack and slash for this GTA fan. I suppose the kind of people who enjoy murdering random NPCs in GTA are the kind of people who will enjoy Darkspawn Chronicles. But for me, if I'm going to play a dark character, I want a personality and a story to go with it, not just running around killing everything I see.

As far as complaining about it here? Why not? There's nothing wrong with saying, "Hey, we want more DAO story stuff!" Ultimately it will be the sales which determine which way they take, but DLCs like this one are probably incredibly cheap and easy to make so I expect they'll make more like this no matter what.

Yeah stop discussing on a discussion forum. Only super positive suger purple fairy comments because you said so apparently. The customer-company feedback relationship is very important, you cannot just dismiss it by saying "only sales figures" matter. If you don't think so then you need to educate yourself about how marketing works (hint: it isn't only looking at sales numbers). But go ahead and keep complaining about complaining.
