You have to charge before talking to Kal-Reeger, it will activate the cut scene, once it's over immediatly charge the colossus and it won't fire it's machine gun.
Thanks, but no thanks. I'd rather do it legit than glitch it.
I managed it, by the way.

So ... if you hit the weapon switch early, you'll draw the new weapon instead.

Out of curiosity do you think it was skill or luck that you killed it?swk3000 wrote...

It just that i've been able to kill it twice out of about 10 to 15 trys & both times i think i was just lucky that it didn't switch to its machine gun:huh:

* I put on the Archon Visor instead of the Recon Hood, on the grounds that being able to Charge more often was more important.
* I brought Miranda and Kasumi.
Miranda only had 2 levels in her Cerberus Officer ability, so I only got +5% Health and +5% Weapon Damage. I'd imagine that it was mainly luck that allowed me to get it done. Though I also started Charging at the back legs of the thing, so it may have had a harder time drawing a bead on me. Hitting them was mostly luck, though.

Blackstorm Projector FTW. 3 Shots and bye bye Colossus.
For me, the entire point was to do it with Small Arms. I had the Cain and could have taken it out in a single shot, but I wanted to do it the hard way. Just to say I did.

God I love how many ways this game can challenge you! Kudos for doing it your way!

The only real challenge here is in making sure no geth attack you from behind, you've gotta kill them all before reaching the end or be contantly bringing up the mini map to be ready when the ones you missed creep up on you.

Why do you need to charge it? Personally I melee it to death every time now, but I don't see why charge is necessary.
Charge is needed for it's Shield Bonus when you come out of it. Without it, both the Colossus and the Geth around it will turn you into a block of very bloody swiss cheese very quickly. Especially on Insanity.

So instead of giving the Colossus the good news with the BMFG12000(a.k.a the M920 Cain),you decided to repeatedly bang your head against the Colossus in the vain hope that the Colossus would split while your head wouldn't?Nice.

Well I proved that my head was harder, so it's a moot point.

Besides, you need to get the Colossus down to approx. 1/4 shields before a single shot with the Cain can take it out.Otheriwse, you'll need to mop up with small arms.
Not in my experience. I ran through the left side of the area as a Soldier, and when I'd taken out all the Geth, I used the Cain on it without touching it's shields. One shot and the thing just exploded. And yes, this was on Insanity.

I didn't know the trick was to charge before even talking to Kal'Reegar. That makes it more of a glitch than I'd be comfortable with. I must have done it twenty times the regular way, sometimes coming close, but the machine gun always got me in the end. Went back to my standard "kill everything big with an SMG" strategy. Not very quick, but somehow more satisfying.
I didn't know that either...
I just did it. That's totally glitched.
You charge before talking to Reegar. The cutscene pops up. You have to charge again, 'cos you apear right next to the guy. And that's it. You start firing until it's dead. The colossus doesn't shoot at all !!
The "regular way" is doable too, but you have too be a little lucky.

I found the Collossus really easy with my Soldier on Insanity. I just went to the left and hid behind the crate and unloaded my Revenant on it inbetween shots of it's big bloombie ball type shot.
I find the Geth really aren't very challenging on Insanity if you take the heavy disrupter evolution... although they seem to blow my retarded squadmates apart fairly regularly.
