I'm not making a judgment about his (nonexistent) honor at all. I simply think that if it's a rhetorical question he's willing to use in the Landsmeet, then the appearance of honor is something the Fereldan people like.

I know. I prefer people to say what they mean. And I'll respond to what is actually said, especially if it's that stupid.

She did say what she meant.  She thinks your choice of Alistair instead of her to doesn't make sense given his lack of preparedness and at best reluctant willingness to take on the responsibility of rulership.

All I mean is that I find her saying I'm being unreasonable to be silly after her promise of support and subsequent backstabbing. There's no reason for me to trust her after that, so what I did in my position is being reasonable. If she really wanted to complain about the future of Ferelden being in jeopardy, she could have done so in different words.

Well she was hardly going to say that she was going to oppose your candidate while she was totally in your power.  She'd expect that to lead to her death or at the least imprisonment.  And she'd be right.

I was more disgusted by Alistair not being able to put aside his hatred of Loghain in order to destroy the archdemon. I get that he hates him (and he has every right to) but sending his wife into battle instead of fighting himself, not to mention that we needed every warden in that last battle for obvious reasons, was plain wrong. This is bigger than your personal feelings and your idealism or idea what the wardens are supposed to be, this is literally about the fate of the country and the rest of Thedas. But nah, I'm going to sit in my room and do nothing because I refuse to take part in a battle with Loghain on my side.

My Hero found that Anora shared most of his views. So he saw very little to dislike about her. He married her. The only thing he didn't care for was her attempt to downplay his position, which was king. But he also understood that it was difficult for her to trust anyone after she was betrayed by her own father (and her husband repeatedly before that).

And of course I agree that the speech before the Battle of Denerim was like the claws of a hundred screaming cats on a chalkboard.

She believed her political tactics were completely reasonable. She thought your choice was bad, so she sided with Loghain, who appeared to be the better option by that point. Nothing that happens between that point and the Wardens beating and possibly killing Loghain changes her opinion about Alistair being a bad choice of leader.

And in fairness, if you go against her the whole way and yet Alistair dies, she gets the crown and yet holds no ill will against you or anyone else.

I like Anora's speech. I think the actress comes off very well at least. It's the version that sticks in my mind over Alistair's, although they're the same words.

It's subjective what you think of Anora herself though. I know why some don't like her.

I admire Anora.  She's smart, politically savvy and wise enough to realize, on some level, that if she doesn't marry Alistair (who at least reminds her of Cailan in some ways) that her single status could make her a political pawn for someone else to exploit.

I don't like Anora, and I don't like hearing her make the speech.

Now, now this necro was super!
Gold medal!
As for Anora i like her but her and Alistair speech are underwelmhing
This happen because the Warden is not voiced to make the speech personally

Not really a necro if it's after just a few days. But yes, their speeches are there because they didn't have the playable character voice artists give any speeches. But they should have. This is also one of the reasons why the Cousland can't rule alone when it is possible in the storyline.

Before it was hauled out of its grave on the previous page, this thread had been resting peacefully for five years.

To be fair, they are the monarch of the country, so it makes sense for the king/queen to personally boost morale with their presence and a rousing speech in times of crisis. Especially before a terrifying invasion that the soldiers don't feel confident they can repel. (Many kings, queens, and emperors have done so throughout history. Queen Elizabeth I giving a rousing speech as the English prepared to face the invading Spanish Armada, the most powerful navel force in Europe at the time, is a prime example.)

I'm not personally bothered by the fact that the Warden doesn't give this speech. To me, some random Warden giving the rousing speech while the monarch of the country just sits there twiddling his/her thumbs would dip into Sue territory.

Oh yeah, the disgustingly privileged human noble.

Well, the other six heroes don't get to be a monarch, so that one hero/ine can pipe down.

I don't feel like Anora's single status would be exploited by someone else. Anora's a politician, She knows how to convince people to do what she wants. So, I believe that it would be Anora, who would exploit her single status. Playing and pitting against her suitors against themselves. For example if the warden is not a noble human, she at least will entertain the idea of marriage, and unlike alistair when she is rejecting the idea (the marriage), she explains that while she doesn't mind, it is unacceptable in society. (or something like that. I might be remembering things wrong through )

Anora's character toolset describes her as being similar to Loghain: Someone willing to do questionable things when it serves the greater good.

But... I just don't see it. Loghain still has a few rare moments when he shows a softer side, so you can tell there is a heart beneath the harsh exterior. Anora, however, is just icy and pompous all the time.
