I helped the cat because of the reason that it seemed suspicous for a little girl to be alone with a talking cat. I came to the conclusion that the girl was the demon and trying to use reverse Phycology against me. Here how I saw it the little demon girl put the original girl soul into the cat and switched. After she saw us coming she hypnotized the cat into believing herself to be the demon. To add to it she would make it look like the cat transformed into a desire demon if we chose to help her, thus making us think we slew a demon.
If we chose to let attack the cat and kill the little girl in the process the little demon girl would use hypnosis to make us think she is dead. The reason she let us help the kitty before instead of revealing her reself is because she though we would betray the cat thus becoming a puppet. I chose no, I decided to let the poor little girl in the cat body soul return to her body thus saving the day.
So what did you do?

You can't do it either.

That or that was the first time anyone had come down in thirty years as the traps were designed to kill anyone who wasn't related to their creator and Amalia's father was scared of it. This was just her first opportunity.Desmod19 wrote...
If she has been waiting for thirty years wouldn't her plan have to be very complicated too complicated for us adventures.
And if she HAD secretly possessed the girl already, why not just not bother with an elaborate set-up and pretend to be a normal girl? Not to mention the girl had been down there for quite a while before the PC goes in to investigate.

She couldn't have quietly disposed of the innocent girl-cat later on? Loving to trick people does not automatically make you too stupid to live, which is what the demon would be if things played on like you say.Desmod19 wrote...
If she had pretended to be a normal girl instead of a little girl being coerced by the demon she would have left a loose ends and please remember desire demons LOVE tricking people into doing their bidding than killing them.

The one in the mages tower was in a building full of blood mages and abominations with no real oppositon. She didn't expect you to show up unti you did and then offered to just go away so as not to deal with you. She was hardly trying to trick you: she said she would leave and she did.Desmod19 wrote...
If we follow your idea than I guess the desire demon in the mages tower was also to stupid to live by trying to find are kind side same with the one who possessed Conor who tried to bribe us away.
The one in Connor tried to flee but after you were too persistent it tried to bribe you and, if that didn't work and you were intent on killing her, she defended herself. If the demon had successfully possessed the girl and didn't have tells like the cat's glowing eyes and you presumably wouldn't up and decide to kill an innocent girl (we already knew Connor was an abomination by this point and even if you would kill a child for the lulz, it never hurts to try to claim to be an innocent), claiming a demon was involved and was the cat is entirely pointless, overly complicated, and more of a risk then saying she just stayed down there because she was scared of the darkspawn ad wanted to be safe.

I always try the persuasion check, which lets you kill the demon and free the girl(after solving the puzzle anyhow). If you fail the check, then you kill the demon anyway... but not before possessing the girl.

That is true, but you can also get a nice staff if you say you'll free her then say "Sweeten tde Deal and you can have the girl"

They don't need to possess the living and I'm not sure they even can. Besides, these are part of the defense system that Wilhem has and only pops up because you're not a relative and if you look through his notes then it reveals that he set up the security to not react to his blood so his son - Amalia's father - wouldn't get hurt since he kept trying to enter the lab. THAT is how Amalia bypassed the security and there is nothing suspicious about it. Why does a demon have to be involved at all?It has often been suggested that the only way for a demon to affect the world of the living is by possessing a living (or once living) body, but this is not always true. Indeed, a shade is one such creature: a demon in its true form that has adapted to affect the world around it. A shade will weaken the living by its very proximity. Some have even been known to assault the minds of a living victim, causing confusion or horror and making the target ripe for the kill. The tragedy of a shade is perhaps that, once it has drained a target whole, its appetite is only heightened rather than slaked.

But that puzzle took so long and her voice was so damn annoying, I was THIS close to killing her.
"Father doesn't like cats, but he never met kitty!"
"I've always wanted a cat and kitty is so pretty and perfect!"
OVER AND OVER AGAIN!

I think any idiot would know that allowing a demon to possess someone for the lulz is bad. Mages would be the ones who have been taught not to make DEALS with demons but this isn't just a deal, it's a little innocent - if slightly stupid - girl's life here.BHRamsay wrote...
I'm not good at this RP thing -- I suppose letting the demon possess the girl makes sense if you are playing any of the Warrior or Rouge origins but seeing as you are confronted with a host of demons and spirits during the Harrowing who pretty much warn you that letting demons possess and control people is bad -- Why would you do it as a mage?
