I think the window between the mission complete and the auto-save is too small to try to pull off a hard save, but I could be mistaken.

FYI, I emailed EA about this and got the "clear your cache" answer, which didn't end up working. Their next reply was basically, "we don't know how to fix it, but we'll pass your info along to the dev team. sorry." Maybe it's time to take ELITE Pete's approach after all...

-Why am I not surprised at the results with EA Tech support… Bet they are counting on us to waste money on buying Dragon Age 2 after all these bugs we have had to deal with in DAO and DA: Awakenings?

Glad BioWare cant be bothered to let anyone know if anyone is even working on fixing this problem.
Maybe we should post this in the Dragon Age 2 forums since that’s where every one seems to be now….

This past run, I deleted EVERYTHING dragon age related off my hard drive (backing up the 2 playthroughs I really enjoyed in case I ever wanted to go back to them) and made sure to always play with the patch not installed. I did a full group run. Upon 500 darkspawn kills, Master Warden has just unlocked as it was supposed to. I am now doing Alienage runs for blight-queller.

Dumped everything from my HD and cleared my cache last Friday. Spent the week playing a new game with no patch and no DLC. Created a back up save at the Alienage. Finished the game with 852 Darkspawn kills. Reloaded the Alienage, cleared it (another 50 or so), created a new save. Reloaded the Alienage, killed about 25, Master Warden dinged for me. Immediately removed the game from my XBox and took it to GameStop to trade in.

Based on my experiences/frustrations with DAO, I will not be purchasing DA2.

-f this is the only way to get it then screw the game and BioWare. I have no interest right now in starting a new game and wasting more time to get an achievement when I still have one(my 4th runthrough) that’s about half done and when I have better games I can be playing.

This is what worked for me on xbox all dlc and all patches as of 10-28-2010. I did a solo human noble 2h warrior templar, berserker. I killed every freaking dark spawn that crossed my path and had 654 kills going in to the final battle. So I did the alienage run. When you do the alienage run you have two saved files one right after you talk to the city elfs and receive the quest make sure you tell them to run. Once you do this I proceeded to the gates and killed killed killed complete the quest do not do not leave the alienage go back to elves and take your gift for completing the quest save to your other save. Then reload just before the battle rinse and repeat. I did this 8 times at about 40-60 dark spawn each time. I can be a little tedious but if you want them you may have to do some grinding...

I had not achieved this trophy on my first playthrough and had clocked only about 750 darkspawn and thought this was going to be a real problem. BIG NEWS !!! you can do this in one playthrough yes no alienage reloads required. I started by focusing on the traveller achievement and building up all the money i could this meant revisting places because my inventory was full i had to go to party camp and sell it. Some areas in particular brecilian forest and the deep roads i would encounter a new wave of darkspawn. Not much but enough to keep that counter ticking. I had 945 by the time i hit the rooftop and if playing on casual you can ignore the dragon and keep killing the darkspawn to get it over 1000. My method will probably not be any quicker than using the alienage reload one but building up the money helps for awakenings and its less painfull than annoying alison with 3 traps about 2000 times.

I managed to get something like 895 kills up to the final battle and had a thought just leaving the
Archdemon to attract my attention ans cleared all Darkspawn i could. Still no achievement, and does difficulty increase the Darkspawn or just make them harder
