I bought and downloaded Mass Effect online at a site called gametap, and I plan on buying a retail hard copy of Mass Effect 2 pretty soon. Will this prevent me from accessing DLC and transfering my save data over?

Transferring save data over: You should be fine. There's no difference in the save format, and as far as I know all versions store them in the same place (My Documents\\\\Bioware\\\\Mass Effect\\\\Save)
DLC: Shouldn't affect Mass Effect 2. I don't honestly know regarding Mass Effect 1 DLC. As far as I know the DLCs should work with any version of ME1, but I wasn't even aware til now that Gametap sells the MEs.
