I just bought Mass Effect 1 and 2 for pc. I had them on xbox but I have just got into pc gaming and they were on sale so I couldn't resist but something puzzles me about the graphics in the original Mass Effect. They look fairly bad to me. The characters faces are jagged, the lighting seems bad even the detail on the characters clothing and armor just looks like something off the original xbox. I know Ureal engine games for pc most times don't have AA options and I don't really want to resort to downloading that program... think its called nsynch? I have an ATI 5770 and i've turned the graphical settings as high as they will go my pc is more than capable of this. I am playing on a 1280x720 res but Mass Effect 2 still looks great at that low res. Is there something im missing or can I tweak things to get the game looking a little better? Thanks.

If you have an ATI 5770, you should have more than enough power to crank the resolution to the max that your monitor supports. That alone should help a lot.

720p (1280x720) is pretty low res, and combined with no AA its going to look pretty bad. Maybe ME2 has more post-processing effects that hide the jaggies and thats why youre seeing a difference.

Ok well geez I should have just gone into my CCC because you can force AA in it and it looks a good bit better now sorry for the useless post. I have a 1600x900monitor that my friend is borrowing and I have this 32inch plasma with a res of 1280x720... yeah kinda got the short end of the stick but hey its still "HD" lol.

1280 x 720 is the Xbox 360 resolution and it looks much better from a distance than when you're playing from a desk. If you play on a PC you need high resolutions because of how close you're sitting to your desk. I play Mass Effect at 1920 x 1080 and Mass Effect 2 at 1600 x 900 and that looks very good.

Turn on Super-sampling  AA :)
