So, just finished my first playthrough of the game, and (while suitably impressed with the game itself) it left me pondering a question.  Similar games done by Bioware have often had multiple endings, but sequels tend to accept certain pieces of specific ones to be cannon for the setting.  Given the time range that the epilogues cover, I'd imagine that any sequel would take place several years after the events of the first game, but are there any bits that Bioware has said anything on?  Who's king/queen of Ferelden in the official lore, for example?

I would assume..they could go a couple ways with it..either they accept your choice at the ending...or make up a story as to why such and such happened..everyone died or lived happily ever after..and now this new problem has arisen.

I always think of it in terms of if it was ever made into a movie hehe. Like, which characters would it be focusing around, who is the central romance---and yeah, of course the ending. Unfortunately, there are so many equally cinematic directions available, and I can't say for sure one would be superior in that regard.

so that's another non-answer, sorry. :P

Although if it was a movie, I would have to say I would lean toward Alistair being king MARRIED to Alora--giving up his PC romance for the greater good of Ferelden, and his tragic Grey Warden lover who sacrificed herself.... of course that's just how I've been rp-ing it so that might be the reason it sounds good to me. ^^ And by good I mean all tragic and angsty and suitably dramatic.

More realistically, I feel like it would cast a male PC with Morrigan (just because I haven't run into many canon female PCs)...but I don't know where else that would go (ie with Alora/Alastair), and I have no idea if Bioware has published any input as yet.

I'd say either Alistair ruling alone or with Alora, or whatever her name is, and with the PC chasing after Morrigan. Orzammar would likely fall back into civil war because Harrowmont seems like the more moral choice, but I dunno.

Well we had origin stories right? So what's stopping them to create "origins reloaded" based on your choices in the endgame and neatly bring them together with new major plot problem (I'm putting my money on Morrigan here no matter how you treated her in the end).

The only thing I ask for in the expansion/sequel is please please let us play our original character and keep at least some of the companions (especially active romances) since having a sequel force someone new on you (looking at you Exile) and deciding fate for your original PC (*sigh* Revan) is just lame and lazy on top.

The only case in which that was good was NWN because I just couldn't bring myself to like the original campaign which is however not the case with Dragon Age.

It's hard to say what a sequel will bring...

The option to use our choices in the current game and make a sequel that will carry on from there is possible.

BUT(!) then they need to have a way to see what we did and this has to be in place already or we have to start from the last savegame before the end and then continue from there in the sequel =)

The other option is that we can choose (Origin style) one ending when we start the sequel.

Something like.... the sequel loads the character we choose and the gives us x number of options to choose from.... we then start with this character, a few years later or we have to create a new character.

This is also another option. It is possible, that we are playing a complete new character in the sequel.

But it would be cool if Bioware would find a way to include our choices from the first game in a sequel...even with a new character.... Our old characters could appear as mentors, commanders or something.

Anyway... I just wish Bioware would hurry up... I love this game... while it is not as good as Baldurs Gate I or II it is the best Fantasy RPG in a long time and the German Drakensang was already very nice =)
