Every time i play i always do the ritual, but i know that Alistair is pretty much doing it because I convince him to, but I always think if it was a real situation that i couldn't do it.

I just feel that it could be the case of oh they hate each other then  sleep together then realise they like each other...seen it happen in real life quite alot.

In this case, not trusting your partner= you die or he dies

It's a no-brainer from that standpoint, really.

Well, Alistair is sort of unflaggingly loyal so long as you really don't betray him or his sensibilities. Which makes sense, all things considered.

How my PC squared that circle was this: there is a gulf between sex and love. You can have one without the other. This is added to the fact that neither has anything that remotely is attractive to the other. Alistair being king doesn't give him the power that sends tingles through Morrigan's spine and Morrigan's beauty really doesn't do it for Alistair, since he's the sort of guy who needs to be in love with his partner (or damn near close) in order to take their relationship forward. Them sleeping together is only to ensure my LI's continued survival.

Also you can rely on never seeing Morrigan again :)

What do you value and what's your moral breaking point? I valued Alistair's life more than his fidelity for one night. So, even though it was difficult (and always is) for me to allow the ritual, I did it for both him and me. This way neither of us would have to be faced with the terrible choice of dying or living alone without our LI. Also I became friends with Morrigan and knew her to be amoral and self serving, because this child would be valuable to her personally it would be well cared for. Furthermore, through our friendship, Morrigan has learned there is value in affection for another person. I think this will influence how she raises the child.

Toolset says hostility in all their conversations. They really do mutually hate each other. I think when Morrigan tells him 'you won't hate this quite so much' she actually saying "Lets get this over with as fast as we can so it's done".

That was put very well! I'm always on good terms with Morrigan and do believe that shes not just doing it for herself. The more I think about it, the more likely i would now make the same decision in reality....

I was betting on Riordan coming through for us... so then I reloaded and went through with the ritual :(

You could at least get the cutscene with Ali and PC(instead of Morrigan) as a last night together if you refused the ritual!

If any of my warden's got a cutscene with Alistair, there would be an annoyed elf who would have wanted it to be him!

Edit: And an annoyed warden as well because SHE would want the elf as well!

I meant if you romanced Alistair of course :D though the scene could be the same only with the PC and romance interest if the PC didn't choose the ritual.

If there's a chance of dying the PC could at least have a moment of happiness ;)

I thought Alistair and Morrigan were pretty much in-love because of their bickering. If I'm not doing the ritual because I'm romancing Leliana, I always make Alistair do the ritual. Even though he gets a one night stand with Morrigan, he still hates her post-coronation lol.

If your Warden is a man, Alistair's loyalty is really over the top. His character seems more like Capt. Brannighan in Futurama when he thought Leela was a man.

"Lee-lemon, I thought I should share a book on the Roman Empire with you!"

Because he hates her. Simple as that. I get not tired to say that there is no attraction, nor kind of wierd hate secks thing, it's pure hatred between those two. They can't stand each other from moment one.

It's really that simple.

*sigh*

Well, I decided not to do the ritual at first, as punishment for breaking up with the warden.  I was going to get the warden to take the final blow but I didn't realise he shouldn't have been in the group and he took the blow, damn you! So redid it and watch Alistair get upset.  I would have like to been able to knock him unconsious before the dragon or him geting there just a little bit too late when he wasn't part of the group but oh well.

But on my Queen playthrough, I'm going to do the ritual and if possible in future games adopt Morrigan's child so Alistair has an heir and doesn't have to sleep with anyone else Posted Image

There was a comic on this somewhere and it shows scenes out in the hallway that were cut. Morrigan waylays Alistair in the hallway and point blank asks him if he really loves you and if he had a chance to save someone's life even though it will hurt that person would you do it. To bad they cut that scene from the game. The short comic was great to read. A link to it is on this forum somewhere, I think in the announcement thread. Not bad artwork on the comic.

It was hard to take letting her sleep with him if you're engaged to him. You'll get some revenge if you play as a darkspawn and beat the snot out of her.

It was hard for me because my Warden loves Alistair and also sees Morrigan as a close friend. Am I the only one who romanced Alistair and doesn't want to hurt her?

I never viewed her as my friend, I lied alot to keep her in my party for the main battle. My warden loves Alistair too, and it was hard to take letting him have a one night stand with her to save our lives.

The question needs to be asked did she offer the ritual to really save your life as your true friend or was she jealous that you got to the male grey warden before she did and he swore he couldn't stand her. Morrigan and Flemeth were all about possession after all. Is there really a god child demon baby or did she lie to have one night stand with your man? I haven't played any other class, does she offer this ritual to other races?

If she was only interested in getting seed from the grey warden, she would have been flirting with Alistair long before the ritual moment as well as the main warden but she didn't.  If you play as male warden she finds it much harder to trust you then if you were a female warden.  She sees me as a sister and I believe her and that her intention with the dark ritual are a good ones.  I think Flemmeth is the only one to be afraid of, in case she possessed Morrigan to get to the child.

I agree.  I keep thinking what if my love asked me to have sex with someman I hated.  If I did do it, to increase the chance that he wouldn't die, I think I would resent it years later.   Just the way I am.

I played with Alistair as the LI 5 times.  Did one where Alistair died, Don't care for it.  Got to the poiint where I left the room when he went to Morrigan.

Switched to LI Zevran played it 2 times and while Zev is ok, he's not my type.  The ending is just one I have no use for so I've sold my xbox360 version and put the pc version up.  Too bad  other than the ending I enjoyed it.  I've gone back to ME 1, ME2, KOTOR, KOTOR 2 and JE.  I'll keep the pc version in case someone comes up with an interesting mod.

I don't mind sacrifices in the game.  I did it in ME.  I cried and honored the memory.  :)   I know very few people care about Morrigan and Alistair, and that's fine.  I wish BioWare had done one option where you could have recruited Loghain if you supported Anora  but you can't.  If wishes were cars everyone would drive. (UPdate from grandma's "if wishes were horses beggers would ride")

edit - early morning spelling.

Flemeth is just misunderstood.  She seems like a sweetheart... under all the cynicism and cryptic dialogue... :?

Alistair puts the brakes on with Morrigan at the beginning of the game in the Kocari Wilds and in Lothering if you listen to their conversation. Sten also shuts her down and isn't impressed with her as a women. Alistair wasn't haven't it and the only way she could get to him was through you the HNF Grey Warden. She comes to you not Alistair to make the offer. She also comes to the HNM to make the offer and not Alistair.

Alistair and Morrigan disliked each other on sight.  She was very derisive of him in your first conversation with her after Flemmeth rescues you.  And it was apparent he disliked her just as much when Flemmeth said Morrigan would join you.

Sten wasn't very impressed with the female warden at first either, so that means nothing to me that he doesn't like her.  Morrigan isn't after alistair, she doesn't care who she gets her seed from, she probaly wishes that Alistair is last person to take it from.  I don't know if she planned this from the start or after the grimoire, but I still say there is something good about her.
