The Thor movie has been in pre-production for 2 years. Last I heard Brad Pitt was supposed to play Thor. I will probably go see it because of how good Iron Man 2 was.

also, Larry Ellison in Iron Man 2 is probably the coolest cameo in the history of film.

Brad Pitt is not Thor.

Chris Hemsworth is Thor, and I think it's filming now, but I'm not 100% sure.

A few sentient machines have lifted Mjolnir but regular, non-sentient machines cannot. Apparently Odin is the one whom decides who's worthy of wielding Mjolnir and they've been very tight on the interpretation. Sure it could be adopted in the future to allow someone new to wield it but they would have to be someone exceptional. As far as humans go, Captain America is the Marvel embodiment of honor, chivalry, bravery, and purity. Eric Masterson was even Thor's replacement on Earth for a time, rewarded with his own hammer, Thunderstrike.

I guess I was wrong on the Mjolnir thing. Is that a fixed list or just a recounting of characters that wielded the hammer thus far? Because if it's the latter my point that anyone could wield it in the future due to writer fiat still stands. Otherwise I stand corrected.

Potentially, more people could lift Mjolnir, but it's one thing writers are very strict about*. The fact that Thor's been around for what, 40 years and it's such a short list speaks to that.

*Admittedly comic book writers change their minds pretty fast; who else remembers when Bucky and Jason Todd were characters who would never ever be revived because of their impact their deaths had on their mentors? :V

I remember Jason Todd. His return was one of those childhood memory shattering moments. His death was a big deal back then. I read a sibling's copy. She never bought comics but that one had so much hype, she bought it for collection purposes. At the time, I didn't get that there were multiple Robins so the story had serious impact on me. It was still a story I remembered even after realizing Todd wasn't the original Robin. Then DC brings him back. Just like that. -_- Feh.
