I'm not sure it's a bad idea, but I don't think it should've gotten further than an idea. I know the Bioware representatives here keep telling us that us forum-goers don't represent the whole market, but I imagine that there are other things they could've done that would've reached more than 50% approval here and still sold well to normal human beings, but I guess you can't tell how well something will go down until you tell people about it and of course we can't be told anything until it's pretty much finished.

Good idea. But a patch would me more useful. I still didn't finish Awakenings and I'd love to get lost in the world of Dragon Age again.

I'm all for it, I'd actually rather the Darkspawn winning, sacking Denerim, and getting a foothold on the surface become the cannon ending. Would give DAO2 a sense of danger the first one was seriously lacking. I too would rather have a patch that doesn't break more than it fixes first though.

He's talking about the idea, you don't need to play it to figure out whether or not you like the idea behind the DLC.

(didn't vote) I like this idea, it sounds pretty sick. killing alistair and morrigan? that'll be good for some laughs...

But I would much  rather see Bioware own up, in a sense, and release a patch already. I know, I know, it takes lots of time and effort...

There's still some aspects of the DlC that remain unknown and might even sway my opinion. A bit.

Is there going to be any dialogue? It seems to me even the pre-sentient darkspawn have a system of communication..... will there be "dialogue" (probably translated from darkspawn grunts to something intelligible to the player) at all or not? (So far, it looks to me, no.)

Is it really going to be just lots of massive-battle maiming or will there be something like objectives (quests) for our darkspawn commander? "Seize that tower". "Take out that ballista" Etc. Do we play the Archdemon at the end, or will he just be issuing orders to us?

Will we get to choose spells for the darkspawn emissaries under our command or are they pre-chosen? Are we able to set tactics for darkspawn on the battlefield, or just issue orders/commands? Is the darkspawn commander going to be doing anything itself, or just issuing orders through minions on the field?

What is Blightblood? Is it a 2H sword? What does it do? What explanation are they going to give for it being in the Warden's hands, stemming from a mission in an alt-univ-timeline where he never existed?

Will we really be learning any new lore about the darkspawn by doing this? (So far it looks to me, no.)

What of our former companions will be facing down? (So far we know Alistair & Morrigan. Anyone else?) Will we have to kill them all to "win"?

There's a lot of things I don't know. Yes, my initial reaction is distaste. However, unlike Feastday, reading the opinions of other reviewers and players could change my mind on this one. It depends.

Well, I'm interested but that hardly equates it to either "Good" or "Bad" =]

CybAnt: have you seen this? (http://www.gamespot....0&mode=previews)

might answer a couple questions, etc.

even though I'm interested, I'll still wait a week or so to buy, so the initial buyers can post what bugs can be found in it.

Unfortunalty; looking at the general announcement, the interview at Gamespot, and the previous DLC 's for Dragon Age I doubt there was a whole lot of detail done in this project. From the outset it looks as if was done because it was simple, quick, and cheap to develop and plays off to the largest piece of the market pie, the gamers whose key interest is the gameplay itself, people who are more interested in lobbing off heads than say characters, story, dialouge, lore, ect.

It's one of those things that the majority will find fun and will rake in a ton of profit because it was cheap to produce, but I don't see any reason to believe this will be anything more than a quick romp as a Darkspawn.

I dunno, this seems like it might be interesting, or atleast a bit of a fun break from the normal hero story. Now if they can tie it in somehow that in the future you recruit a darkspawn... XD

See, I would disagree with the idea that this board doesn't represent the market.  At this point, most other general gaming boards have moved beyond Dragon Age.  They aren't the ones who are going to buy a DLC, its this board and the hard core fans.  Dragon Age came out almost six months ago now - the hard core is who cares at this point and the DLC should generally cater to that audience.  I'm not convinced that Darkspawn Chronicles is catering to that audience, though I guess we'll see how the poll pans out.

While I'm not interested in this DLC, I'm not opposed to the idea in theory.  The mistake here, IMHO, is that this should have been presented once Bioware had some sort of regular DLC pipeline going.  Throw out a DLC every month or so and something like this is a nice diversion.  Throwing this out when we haven't heard a thing since Awakening of significance and you are bound to disappoint a lot of people.

I agree...there is something weird about playing a PC that you would not normally care for, against grey wardens and the good people of Denerim

I struggle to imagine how destroying Denerim could be fun. It is an interesting concept though.

Just asking if you think the concept of it is a good idea should DLC stick to expanding the characters you play or have a few off shoots like this :)

While I am not opposed to the DLC, I reject polls and threads that cater to pseudo-profanity in the supposed name of humor. Makes me a tad more content knowing that DA:O is single player only.....

*EDIT: This is ref another like Poll in that special section of the Boards*

It would be an interesting point of view, from other side so to say, but I wonder whether it actually delivers anything useful. Like someone already asked, will there be a story what we can follow which would allow to find out more about darkspawn? Will we communicate with other darkspawn, speak with Archdemon? Or is it just a bunch of "go there and kill X to complete the quest" kind of lame thing. Now being a "good" person obviously I would not want to see this event to become a standing point for DAO 2 so to say but at least from the point of lore it could give some new information, assuming Bioware even plans to add a story and lore to it.

Hmm, to be honest about one of the earlier replies, most people that are "hardcore gamers" that I know, including myself, don't typically roam the forums. The only reason I'm in this particular thread at the moment is due to stumbling upon this when trying to find any information about the PS3 release date (I know they said TBA, but still looking lol)

Don't get me wrong though, there is a huge chunk of the people that will probably buy DLC being on these forums.

Alright, here's how I feel: I think they should have give us maybe one or two more expand-on-our-characters DLCs before doing something so different.

However, it is what it is: the DLC has been announced but it has not been released. I find the SKY IS FALLING attitude almost pathetic, but I suppose people will be people. As I said, I will reserve my judgement for later; I think it is an interesting idea. Menaing that I will buy it to test it out.

Interesting. Close to 200 votes, and this poll is still running close to 50-50.

This one really has us divided down the middle. I wonder if people would be as negative about it if it weren't coming out so soon after Awakening/1.03.

In part, I think my reaction to this is also partly shaped by this coming so soon after FeastDay, which still seems to me to have been a crock.

I like the idea, Although i would of threw a party for all dragon age players in the world if we got all our bugs fixed.

But ya i support it, nothing wrong with thinking outside of the box imo.
