This is my build:

Image IPB

My best advice would be to practice Sniping and using the Hand Cannon. Both these weapons can be massive Equalizers, especially against the major bosses and harder enemies.

I use a Widow Anti-Material Rifle (having selected specialized training it in when offered). This weapon takes out enemies with one headshot, Scions in 3 shots.

You only really need Inferno Ammo (splash damage on organics) and Disruptor Ammo (for synthetics).

Adren Rush aids in Sniping.

Geth Shielding increases your shields, as well as being useful as a quick shield restorer.

Although I've never used Concussive shot, players who have don't approve of it.

Yes, you can actually do both from the doorway. However, I don't like doing so, as I consider stopping the Husk Spawning to be a glitch. Taking out a Scion to make things easier is tactics, but taking out both to stop the Husk spawn is glitching, and I prefer to stay away from glitches.

Besides, it's not like the Husks themselves present any real problems. The Scion is the big issue.

Isn't that still sort of cheating but just to a lesser degree=]

It's a little closer to glitching than I'd like to get, but it's either that or die from constant Scion shockwaves.

Have you tried using the cover on the left hand side where the medi-gel is?
It makes that little battle much easier when the husks only come from one direction so are easy to cut down & you can see the Scion shockwaves coming a mile off so its easy to duck back down to avoid themB)

The only problem with that is unless you're playing a sniper class, taking down even one scion before the husks get to you is problematic. One of the scions is likely to be alive when that happens, and you'll either have to fight the husks up at the platform while being torn to shreds by the shockwaves, or escape to where you came from. Alternatively, you could take out the husks first, but then you'll have to escape the approaching scions.

Yes, I have tried that. The Husks force me out of cover, and the Scions take care of the rest. And since a large number of the Husks actually come from there, I have no chance there.

Theirs two sets of steps up to the cover so its easy to escape the scions when they get close by just using the other set of steps to the one's there going to use to get up.
Once the husks are gone its almost lame how easy it is killing off two slow ass scions^_^

Except for the fact that the second I step out of cover, I get hit by a Scion blast. Then I either get hit by another, or the Husks catch up with me before I can get out of the flinch animation, and by the time I can move, I'm surrounded by Husks on all sides and reeling constantly from their melee attacks. Either way, I die.

The Husks dont climb up next to this bit off cover till after the collectors show up which is after the two scion part.
That cover spot works great for me with all classes bar the Vanguard/Sentinel who can just charge the scions right of the bat anyway.
But i guess if you cant stop the husks from reaching you using this cover then what works great for me won't always work for everyone else i guess:lol:

They do, unless you go there to take cover in the beginning of the fight.

But if you're going to escape the cover anyway, why not just take care of the husks while staying on the right, and then escape to the higher cover to shoot at the scions? The cover on the left doesn't seem very superior to me, unless you can take down the scions before the husks get to you.

Personally i just like that cover spot as from their i find it quite easy cut down the husks before they reach me while also damaging the scions while they slowly creep over.
TBH though theirs lots of ways you can do that fight without cheating like using the L shaped cover at the back to confuse the husks a bit while you kill them as they then have to run round.
Not saying the way i do it is the best possible way but i found it quite easy on insanity using the left side cover=]

Hmm, maybe you're not doing it right.

I never have any problems with Husks or Scions.

The reason why is Grunt standing right where they come up the stairs.

They're usually dead as soon as he lays a hand on them.

And whoever is with Mr Husksmasher Krogan is picking up the spares, so to speak.

Giving me plenty of time to snipe both slow moving Scions.

I should point out I'm shooting the Scions at extreme range.

They don't get close enough to hit me with their earthquake blasts.

And if they do, they're almost dead, so a Hand Cannon finishes the job.
