Got my support, the standard toggle in ME1 was ok but the collapsing helmet is a bit more realistic than the helmet suddenly vanishing into thin air, then perhaps Liara won't try to kiss shepard through a full face helmet again!

I am totally onboard with the core concept but I don't like the "in combat=on, out of combat=off" thing.

Better to simply add a toggle button- I mean have it collapse real time. Not go to menu-> click toggle.

Just press G or T or whatever and see it... 'collapse'.

ME3 need to have it all!

For the record I just hope that Bioware gives us a "G" key and makes the helmets collapse.

As long as Bioware doesn't limit the amount of helmets we would get because of this I'm for it.

This times ten.

Please Bioware, make it happen in the upcoming DLC or ME3.

Man sometimes I think about these things we ask for and from the perspective of someone who has pretty much no idea what it takes to do what Bioware does...my hopes are pretty much dashed.

But then Bioware delivers a lot of times on things we thought weren't possible, and hence the magic is created.

Therefore, hope endures.

Don't prove us wrong deaer Bioware... :)

Like I said before I support this great idea, but, I would like to know from Bioware if that is even possible; I started thinking about this when I saw that the Rachni was supposed to be some kind of transparent enemy, which you can even see its the organs. But didn't do it because it was beyond their capability.

Holt Sh*t, this thread is still alive? I stopped paying attention to it months ago. Glad I could lay the ground for such an apparently interesting topic.

So after the announcement of the second appearnce pack - unfortunately without helmets, maybe it's time to bring the awesome idea of collapsable helmets back to attention - and even if it's only for ME3!

This is a brilliant idea. However, I would like to add that there should be some kind of option to allow the player to deploy the helmet without being in combat.

Good point.

I'd rather have the ME1 style press a button and they're on or off toggle if it meant more helmets for a team-mates and Shepard N7 system.

DO NOT SAY "SIGNED" or any derivative there of, I don't want this thread removed because Mr. Woo thinks it's a petition.  Instead, show your support by putting a banner in your sig.

But, I don't have any more place for any sig.:(

I totally support this idea, it's awesome and would be an excellent addition to the ME3 tech :)

And thank you very much for the support signatures.

I don't like the idea.

Structurally, helmets are intended for protection. By making it collapsable, you sacrifice protection. This is basic logic/science. IT is not debatable.

I'd rather Shepard just takes it on/off when the player wants. Simpler and makes more sense.

Ok... I respect your opinion, but... where does he/she put it when he/she takes it off?

And btw- why have collapsable weapons?:?

Storage. Even now you have weapons with thing like collapsable stocks. A weapon is made for shooting.

No getting hit by bullets.

But maybe using future-magic means that collapsability (is that a word?) need not sacrifice strength.

Anyway, sureley a whole bunch of the helmets already make the same mistake by having a 'glass' visor that takes up way more of the helmet than nescessary. (i'm mainly thinking inferno armour here, but it's by no means the only one)

In the real world you'd be right, but in a sci-fi game you have to take reality with a pinch of salt. Actually, look at the female character's armours- no way that stuff is sensibly designed :P

Either way though, collapsing/taking off helmets is defineteley a must. And sometimes it should be forced, kissing/drinking through helmets is funny for the wrong reasons.
