New Warden or Continuation?

Although I did read an amazing idea in the Morrigan thread that you could have the one default newbie Origin, and then a few 'new Origins' that basically bridged the end of DA1 to DA2 based on how it (somewhat) ended for you. THAT would be amazing. Hell, I'd probably have one of each ending just to make sure I could try 'em all.

Continuation without question, its too early too ditch all the time invested in the existing characters. Mix things up with some new companions ala BG2 and bring back some old faves, give us a decent conclusion and I'll be happy to move onto a new character in a future title.

You realize that just being an average joe NEVER happens in Bioware games right? Spoilers for people who haven't played these stelar games (which you should.... like now): in Kotor you're the dark lord of the sith Revan, in the sequal you play one of the jedi that went to the mandalorian wars with him and Malak and then got the force taken out of you, in Jade Empire your the last spirit monk, and in ME your a hot shot comander who's already been established as a badass before the game starts. Just being some dude isn't going to happen. Your always going to have something going for your character at some point in the game.Brako Shepard wrote...
I'm all for a new character in the next Dragon Age game.
With all the DLC, and possibly another expansion for Origins(just saying it could be possible), I am pretty sure alot of things can be tied up and finished. This would then allow for a new story for a Dragon Age 2.
It would be nice to find codex entries from our old team mates, and also info on Morrigans child. But other than that I am hoping for a whole new story.
More than anything though I am hoping fora more superior enemy. The Darkspawn are ok, but thats only because of there vast numbers. I wan't an actual enemy who is truly ruthless through strength and intelligence.
EDIT : I also hope the next character is not a Warden. Don't get me wrong, being a Warden is great, but I want the next set of team mates be there because I am there friend and not there superior. In other words, I don't want to be a king or an ultimate type of soldier force. Just someone normal who then gains skills throughout there quest.

The only games I have played from BioWare are Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, and Dragon Age Origins/Awakening.

Yes, we know that they don't plan on following the trilogy path like they're doing in ME, but that doesn't mean that you can't have the same hero in the sequal.
They can change the focus of the story and take it out of Ferelden, while letting you experience it through your Warden and maybe bring back some of the old companions.
Baldur's Gate saga consisted of 2 games (plus and expansion) and while it wasn't technicaly a trilogy it did show the benefits of having a sort of continuity between games.

They said it's just the beginning and it's a franchise so it'll probaly be more then a trilogy and there be lots of different stories set in the dragon age but I at least want one more for the warden from origins.

I at least want a game where there is a proper happy ending for the warden and his/her chosen love interest and proper closure. None of this "sacrifice for the greater good" or she "disappeared into oblivion" crap for my warden please. She can have it all and kick ass.
I agree wholeheartedly

No! She'll find a way to free herself from the taint
Didn't Fiona the elf grey warden find a way? I've not read the book but I'm sure someone mention she did...could be imagining things...

If you get cured of the taint, are you still a Grey Warden? Or did Fiona go from resistant to immune? Which, come to think of it, would still probably prevent her from ending any Blights.
I went to Wikia, she is immune and she is the only grey warden to become immune. Her whereabout is unkown but she said she would be searching for the architect, so she still has duty of a grey warden. Maybe she can still stop the blight but in another way, her immunity cures the taint from old gods and darkspawn.
Better if the warden had this immunity and cured the taint herself

I'm all for continuing with the Warden- continuity via the PC is the way to go given some of th eplot threads Origins left open.
As for Fiona, in The Calling its never really explained why she doesn't succumb to the Calling. The book basically ends with her going back and staying at Weisshaupt so the Wardens can research her to figure out why she hasn't felt the Call of the old gods. If you've read the book, its possible it might have something to do with the Architect possibly, but its all left quite vague and unclear. That said, I would love it if Fiona showed up in the next game and you could have Alistair along too- get to ask some questions!

You know, as bittersweet an image as it would make, wouldn't that be one hell of a closing scene to your Warden's story before they move on to a new one? Basically a thirty second cutscene with very emotional music that plays out like the one DA trailer with the Warden opening up the gates in the Deep Roads.
I'd be sad to see him go, but in the immortal words of Sam Jackson 'I don't care if I die, I'm just not going out like a punk'

At this point I frankly don't care about my Warden anymore. There's better stories to be found elsewhere than 'new guy joins up and surprise surprise ultimately saves the day.' Seriously, if The Warden's companions weren't so great, he'd be a pretty lame character.

As for a potential plot, I just don't see how they can leave the god-baby a loose end. I know not everyone picked that ending, but if they want any sort of serious link between DA1&2, they're probably going to pick an official ending. So, I'd go for a story that takes place 20-30 years after DAO, and deals with the now-grown god-baby; whether as enemy, party member, or other, I don't know.
