Last quick save I loaded took over two minutes. It's been getting worse; from acceptable when I first started playing to this latest monster of a load time.
Area transitions are fine, loading saves takes forever.

Specs would be helpful... also how long have you been playing at a stretch? there are memory leaks with certain systems...

How long have you been playing, there is an unconfirmed report of a memory leak that slows down the DAO engine. You can get around this by saving your progress then quit, launch DAO fresh.

I experiance that memory leak issue everytime I play and the method you provide is the fix. I hope bioware corrects it soon so we don't have to do this so often. It gets really old having to do it every hour or two.

I get about 3-4 hours out of my rig before I save and quit. I mean, having a 5 minute break while area transitions and saves happen is nice, but really, let's get serious here.

I've experienced similar... though my issue has been with area transitions... load times have approached almost 10 minutes at the worst.. only workable solution I'm aware of right now is saving/exiting/restarting the game.. that usually gives me another 2 hours or so of play with reasonable load times (they get longer and longer progressively... ) It's a pain to do so, and really shouldn't be necessary, but until the devs release a stable fix/patch, I suppose I'd rather live with this than an entirely different problem that you might not be able to resolve with a simple save/restart....

i hate this memory leak problem, i'm glad i found out that it goes away if you restart the game kinda early in my game time, my load times were hitting 10 min there for a while. so now i can usually play for 30 min then i have to restart again. annoying!

I'm glad to know that this isn't just me. I've had issues with this myself, usually building up as I play... May the wizards at bioware concoct a potion of Leak stopping so we can not have to worry about this in the future

Its just my opinion, but this is a problem that has to be solved by the devs of this game. Its not tolerable to tweak your system to each game, to adept its errors.

Do you get an error message at all? Or does the game just "dissapear"?

the first time it was frozen on the loading screen so i do to close it down manually but the 2nd time it closed down by itself with both windows "this program has stopped responding" error

Pretty problem to adress. You "could" try a clean new install of Dragon Age, and try a reproducable Crash. Other than that i cannot assist you for a solution.

Whenever I have a problem with load times in games it usually means it is time to defrag the hard drive and empty our the Trash folder.

- A memory leak is the gradual loss of available computer memory when a program (an application or part of the operating system)repeatedly fails to return memory that it has obtained for temporary use. As a result, the available memory for that application or that part of the operating system becomes exhausted and the program can no longer function.
For a program that is frequently opened or called or that runs continuously, even a very small memory leak can eventually cause the program or the system to terminate. A memory leak is the result of a program bug.
*edit: reformatted it the copy paste did wierd things.

I defrag on a daily basis and this issue still exists. I don't think that will solve the issue however it does decrease load times if the memory leak wasn't an issue.
