Basically a list of odd things you noted in Dragon Age: Origins and it's sequel, Dragon Age: Awakening.  They can be funny or just plain strange, as long as you noticed them.

1. Loghain shouting at my Cousland that the Grey Wardens are pawns of foreigners.  The fact that my character has never been out of the country in his life and none of the Wardens he knows are foreign is strange.  It makes me think Loghain is so far into his self-delusion he doesn't even understand he's ranting now.

2. Vaughn imprisoned for what happened in the Alienage.  It shows even Howe can occasionally do something right.

3. The fact Branka looks fine and chipper two-years in the Deep Roads.  Do they have baths down there?  What's she been eating.

4. Branka's sweet message to Oghren in her journal.  That was surprising.

5. The fact you can pop up in poor Jarvin's shop from the Carta household.  You really have the potential to ruin this poor man's life don't you.

6. If you leave Majorlain alive and Leliana unhardened, she goes back to her if you dump her for Anora.  That's some serious stockholm syndrome there.

7. Ser Cauthrien is a beast.  She really should have shown up in Dragon Age: Awakening in Mharie's place, if she was alive at least.

8. Arl Eamon falling sick before Ostagar.  It let's you know Loghain was up to something, just not sure what.

9. The realization that Loghain DID betray Calian.  Even if he wanted to retreat, he was wide open for making a position to get Calian out, even if it was at the cost of many men.

10. Avernus has figured out a way to stop the taint from killing someone after thirty years.  That's actually maybe worth all the crap he's pulled.

2. No, Vaughn was imprisoned because Howe wanted to steal his domain. Notice that everyone thinks that Vaughn is dead. It had nothing to do with the Alienage riots.

The taint does not kill you you just begin to succumb to it and as a result Grey Wardens go die in the Deep Roads to avoid becoming ghouls. Blood Magic and Warden experiments probably allowed Avernus to suppress the effects of the taint on him

Well it kills the person you are but that's semantics anyway.

If you play through the Dwarf Commoner Origin, you'll know beforehand whose shop Janar's used to be, and why that tunnel is there. I do find it funny that I not only helped his daughter abandon her society and lose her rank, but also potentially implicated him in the carta scheme by association. The poor man just can't catch a break.

a cool thing I noticed is if you move the camera just right to look through the lanterns in some of the indoor sections of Denerim, the vision is distorted because of the glass. It was neat that they put this touch in there even though it would be next to never when someone would actually do that.

"Huh. I just murdered a whole village of people to retrieve a religious artifact so I can save one man from death."

"I hope this doesn't come back and bite me on the ass later."

Doing the Ostagar sidequests with Alistair in your party. He doesn't say much, but two particular highlights:

Prisoner: "I swallowed it. But, uh, it's come back into possession since then....so to speak."

Warden: "That's disgusting!"

Alistair: "And an excellent party trick I'll bet."

Then, when you talk to the Kennel Master, if you ask if Alistair wants to muzzle the dog:

Alistair: "Nope, dogs and I don't along. You do it."

To be fair, there is NO WAY to do it peacefully. I tried the first time. My first character wanted to avoid killing as much as possible, but... people kept trying to kill her, so she kept having to hack through them.

I usually go directly to the Chantry when I reach Haven.... if you poke around the town Revered Father Loony-pants quite rightly calls you on your breaking and entering ways. If you go directly to church however then his men attack you unprovoked ... I tend not to feel quite so bad about slaughtering the entire town.

Strange . . . I poked around town just fine and nobody tried to slaughter me . . .

15. Haven has been isolated for about 1000 years. Think on that. They're THAT inbred. Plus, they're hopped up on Dragon Blood.

I think that goes a long way to explaining why everyone is so damn loopy.

16. Queen Anora is of regal blood, she just has a commoner father.  This probably gives her a lot more legitimacy than just being Teryn Loghain's daughter.

17. The slaving operation probably was something that was designed to seperate the strongest elves from the weak so the Tevinters could remove everyone in the end.

18. Loghain is probably a racist against elves.

19. Orlais probably WAS going to conquer Fereldan after the Blight was defeated.

So would someone like to explain again why Irving would be holding on to Flemeth's Black Grimiore AND the Box for the Red Jenny Quest ...What is Irving hiding behind the facade of the slightly doddering old man?

I think they collect evil artifacts for study.

Though honestly Uldred was probably hording it all and plenty of other mages too.

Jowan had to learn Blood Magic from somewhere.

It was never quite explained what's inside the box for Red Jenny, what does it do and why people want it.

As for Flemeth's Grimoire, it seems logical that if a templar got it, the Chantry would send it to Irving and ask him what's it about, or Irving would ask them for it. It's useless with the Chantry anyhow.

I've been the lonely rider of the Irving-is-evil bandwagon since release date.  There is just ...something about that man that sets my spider-sense tingling. I can't help but think he knows waaay more about what was going on in the tower then he let on.

I do admit, what the Hell did Irving intend to accomplish by having Uldred tempt apprentices with Blood Magic?

I don't think he's evil like Uldred is evil... the man is a political pro and a complete douchecanoe, though. He is the reason my mage goes out of their way to help the companions in any way they can. Even though she's not that fond of Jowan, the feeling she got when she betrayed him was enough to make her swear that she'd never do it again.

*at the risk of sounding like a douche*

Irving does it for the lulz.

I think Irving and Wynne honestly live in another dimension removed from real life.

After Wynne's tripe about love being so ~selfish~ and how she thinks Wardens are supposed to be, I kind of have to agree with that assessment. A believable side-effect from spending so long in the Tower, and Wynne's essentially the Chantry's **** anyways....

I think if Wynne believed otherwise about love, it'd start crumbling her belief that the Circle of Magi's sacrifices are all for the greater good.

I think she's idealised it too much to have a realistic view of it. If my PC could have actually done it, she would have shoved her (or poked her, whatever old lady) and been all, the world is falling into pieces, the Blight is coming, the world might be overrun by darkspawn, and you're worried that I might be selfish?

She obviously doesn't know the PC too well.

And this is turning into a Wynne-hate thread. There should be one. Someone make it! :DDD

My DN was even more surprised since she didn't actually acknowledge Surface authority so why would she be an Orlesian spy?

2. Vaughn imprisoned for what happened in the Alienage.  It shows even Howe can occasionally do something right.

What was weird was that he was even still alive. Why not just kill him like he did the Couslands?

To be fair, there is NO WAY to do it peacefully. I tried the first time. My first character wanted to avoid killing as much as possible, but... people kept trying to kill her, so she kept having to hack through them.

They only attack you if you click on the bloody altar in the village house or go into the back of the shop after the shopkeeper tries to stop you and you find the body. Otherwise by killing all the crazy people in charge, their crazy reavers, and that stupid dragon there is hope that the town itself can one day get less crazy.

And this is turning into a Wynne-hate thread. There should be one. Someone make it! :DDD

Will this do?
