Okay, so I just got finished with rescuing Jack and headed back to the Normandy. Everything is fine and dandy so far. Then the girl next to the Normandy hologram tells me that the Illusive Man wants to speak to me. I go head back to the com room and try to open the door to the com room, but it doesn't work. I'm standing in front of the door and there's an orange square on the door but it won't turn blue. After leaving the hallway and coming back a few times, I realize that if I can position myself just right, the blue square flickers off and on, and if I press the space bar at the right time, the door will open. I get inside, then realize that I can't use the com thing either. All I get is an orange square at the edge of the table, and no amount of respositioning myself, or leaving the room and coming back, or rebooting my computer will fix the prooblem. Is this a problem that can be fixed? Am I going to the right place? Can it be fixed without starting the game over again?

Do you have the same problem trying to activate the lift, or your private terminal?
If yes, then seems you have some problem with the targetting in game.
If no, then seems to be some form of corruption in the local targetting setrtings for these 2 objects.
Either way, load up the beginning of jacks loyalty mission, and see if you have the same problem with the research/cred terminal just inside the facility doors. If that works fine, I would suggest playing through the rest of the mission and see if it rights itself at the end of it.
If the problem happens on that terminal, either your save or the game itself has become corrupted.
See if it happens to an earlier save, preferably on another character if you have one.
If yes, then seems you have some problem with the targetting in game.

Usually if the hardware is not good enough the problem is there from the beginning. Maybe you should monitor your framerate using Fraps. If the framerate in the comm room is lower than in most places then you'll have to lower some graphical settings.

I can select other objects just fine like the elevator and my private terminal, but I'll try to play through another mission and see if it fixes it. If not, I'll check the framerate.
Edit: Thanks, the problem was fixed, I just simply lowered the resolution for a bit.
