Only Origin where you fight Darkspawn (great for RP purposes) and love returning to Orzammar as GW because of how they are respected (well sort of)
Great background story and impacting dialogue
Aeducan Sheild
Conversations with Cailin at Ostagar
Great ending
Gorim is awesome both as an NPC and in Denerim
It is extremely fun in proving!

Actually, you face them in the DE origin, too, but that origins just so boring even that can't save it. And it's clear in the DE origin that's the first time you encounter them while the DN has presumably faced them before as even the prince/princess wouldn't be sent out as a commander into the Deep Roads without having gone out before and Bhelen mentions you're usually Endrin's second on expeditions.Only Origin where you fight Darkspawn (great for RP purposes)

essentially what I meant for RPing purposes, because you have faced the darkspawn and no exactly of their evil first hand, and fun DN is just fantastic (just wish I could find the perfect tatoo for her

There is something going on there. Not sure what. It is hinted heavily in both the Dalish origin story and in Nature of the Beast that the Tevinters and elves were collaborating and ended up unleashing some bad juju. I'm not a lore expert, but there was a good thread a while back that speculated that the official elven history is heavily doctored and that the elves might have had something to do with the darkspawn being created/ the Black City etc. I wonder if we will find out more about this in future games. So, I think the Dalish and the Brecilian Forest are integrated into the central story, but it is in subtler ways than other origins and maybe meant only to be foreshadowing.Carmen_Willow wrote...
I think they could do an entire game on what happened to the elves at the time the Arcane Warrior became entombed in his crystal. Also, the Avarrs (sp?). Of course, it wouldn't be Dragon Age, but wow, wouldn't you like to play out that scenario? I would. I'd love to know what was so terrible. Who built those ruins? How were they lost. There is a whole game in that story. Fall of the empire, downfall of an entire civilization. Epic.

Otherwise he idea of being a mage in this game is great, they are in a nice academic environment but constantly watched over and mistrusted and because of that it seemed likely that the PC really wound want to be a warden, mage prison sentence or not, just to be able to get out of the gilded cage.
I played city elf first and thought that was great as an origin but was very disappointed in the game after finishing that one since I got too involved with the elves situation and was annoyed that there was not much opportunity to do anything about it or even to talk about it.

Both Dwarven Origins come in a close second, only due to the allure of meta-gaming to aquire extra gold and XP. My initial characters missed quite a lot until I read a walkthrough.

Yeah how come they put locked chests in the noble origin if you can't even open or go back to them?
Replay value when you select a Rogue.

I loved the dwarf noble origin. First time I played I almost crapped my pants once I figured out I had been tricked into killing my own brother. Gorim is simply badass.
Wait, what? So you can actually kill Trian yourself? I've played it twice and both times I just walked into the setup and found him dead already.
And yeah, Gorim rocks. Once I become Warden Commander I fully intend to return to Denerim and invoke the Right of Conscription on his ass.
If you believe Bhelen without question and intend to act against Trian you will come upon Trian alive. You'll exchange words then be forced to kill Trian just in time for Daddy Aeducan to show up.
Wow, totally did not know you could play it that way. It would put a whole different spin on the entire origin....Just got finished with Dwarf Noble too.
I love Human Noble for the satisfying revenge scene later. And Mom simply rocks!
I loved City Elf because you can come home again and say Hi to your Dad. One of the only two stories where you have a parent left alive. I know about coming home to family in the military, so this resonated with me.
Haven't played Dwarf Commoner all the way through yet. Thought the origin story was good.
Found Dalish Elf not as much fun, but did like the farewell scene in camp.
Mage -- needed someone you really cared about that you had to leave behind to make it work. Didn't really care about Jowan....
Not to mention that he's actually a good and loving father who seems to have had a strong positive influence in your life.. you know.. as opposed to the monumentally huge mountain of daddy issues pervasive throughout the rest of this game and Mass Effect 1/2.

Speaking of selecting a rogue, but is it me, or does the Daelish elf Origin just seem to beat the crap out of you for NOT being a rogue? Seriously. Traps, locked chests, sneaky enemies galore. Just screamed "Play a rogue!" to me.Brako Shepard wrote...
Ah right. I forgot you could be noble but select the rogue skill.

I agree.... I mean you get clobbered in the cave w/ the traps, spiders, hidden enemies.....but that class fits the origin the best I think....

You may know this, but there is a PC mod which unlocks mage for the Dalish origin. You'll just have people in the Circle acting as if you came from there.Rhys Cordelle wrote...
I think it's a shame you can't be a dalish mage. I mean the Dalish don't send their mages to the Circle. It would have made things interesting if you could be branded an apostate.

Favourite Origin: Definatly the Mage. That has been my favourite class since first played D&D
. Just wished the Dalish Origin could incorporate Mage to, be good to be a mage outside tower and give the origin bit more story
.
Second Fav is Human Noble good storyline thru the whole game and hats off to Tim Curry for making Arl Howe sound a right B********. The Dwarf origins just cant seem to get into them, never get passed Ostagar.
There is a mod on DANexus for a Dalish elf mage (uses the dalish origin but from what I understand there are some odd dialogues in the Tower quest where they all think you are a Tower mage) I haven't been able to get past Ostagar on my Dalish mage.

The City Elf female orgiin is the most gut-wrenching and she ended up the darkest of my Wardens. Not evil, really, but she was completely subversive, wanting to tear down all the power structures in Thedas. I was ready for a lighter story after that.
