Ok so to start I'm currently a level 16 Warrior specced as a Berseker/Champion. My first real complaint comes in on the third mission (First I did Redcliffe, and then to save a boy and his mommy I did the Circle) then I went to save the Dalish elves. Here is where my complaint comes in. When helping the Lady of the Forest, I wanted an option to tell her and the leader elf dude, "Hey I'm glad your beef is ending, but umm can you save it until after we whip the blight?" To me having an army that included werewolves would have been an awesome option.
Next I went to Orzammar(sp?) Here's what I didn't like there, and the list is actually quiet a bit. No where else does a Grey Warden get treated with such disdain. If I wasn't playing a relatively good PC I would slaughter the whole city and be like "Learn to respect those who will die in your defense or die by their hand" my goal there was two fold, I wanted to get the dwarves on my side, but I also wanted to show them the err in the caste system. The Caste system is directly responsible for the Carta, and just to get Lord Harrowmoth(sp once again?) on my side, I not only had to slay the Carta, I had to fight against the Prince, when I would have much rathered, been able to go to each and find out their views and then decide. Everything else is pretty cut and dry in the game for example. You know that using the blood mage in Redcliffe is an "evil" choice, you know that wiping out the circle and not saving the survivors is at best a neutral choice. But with the dwarves it's an ambigious at best choice.
When I went there I had every intention of speaking to both to get two promises, signed by whomever I chose to be King (since it was clearly up to me) to both aide the Warden's and end the Caste system. Obviously the one girl whom I could help restore I did.
Now I've since left Orzammar and finished the Ashes quest, I plan on returning and slaying the dragon once I've leveled some. Because being in the temple of the Maker's Chosen it was clearly a holy place which I feel compelled to purify with this PC.
Next let me move on into the relationship realm. I like a lot of the posts I've read felt Morrigan was a very compelling character. I was even willing to go to the trouble to slay Flemeth for her. My beef with this was it was simply a fling with her (I know I've read about her offer later in but still) so I left her and got with Leliana.
Here's what bugged me about that, I've done everything she could ask, even taken her ring, to me why shouldn't I get the girl? Now I know my pc is supposed to die, and that choosing Loghain will lose Allistar, but I know I will choose to force Loghain into the Warden's because damn it he has to pay pennace for killing his king and Duncan!
Here is what would if I were my PC. I'd let Morrigan go for not being serious about our relationship (just as I have) I'd get with Leliana (just as I have) I'd force Loghain to sacrafice himself for his sins (as I full well intend to do) and then I would move me and Leliana to Soldier's Peak, let her build a Chantry to spread her views of the "Maker's in all of us" and rebuild the Warden's from there.
From what I understand the Epilogue is pretty much a short term type view of what "happens next" but to me, unless Bioware intends to announce a DA2 to us players. I'd like some open end roleplay at the end of the game to try and set up the future for that DA2. IE, having a kid to restore my lost (human noble) family. Becoming the leader of the Grey Warden's on this continent, having a chantry sister or even the witch as a bride. Proving to Allistar that Loghain should be allowed to pay pennance for his sins at the beginning of the game.
That's where I'm at now anyway. I'll probably post more later, otherwise it's an awesome awesome game insofar as my complaints have not taken away from my enjoyment.
Oh and I 'm curious to other's thoughts on the things I've posted of course!
