We all have a mental picture of our Grey Wardens in our head.  Sometimes, we form facts and personalities around them well before we actually start playing.  This is especially true in the rich environment of Dragon Age: Origins and it's sequel.

So this is a thread to talk about funny and interesting things about your Grey Warden.  Remember, we've all played the game.  So try and share stuff that was actually distinct in either your head or unusual.

Talking about them as characters is perfectly permissible.

I'll start us off.

Ser William Cousland

Posted Image

+ Ser William face tattoos, in my mind, are actually the result of him briefly being captured by Wildmen.  As a result, he was tortured for awhile and did things that he really regrets before he escaped.  Thus, in the otherwise happy and pleasant Cousland family, he was always the darker one.

+ Ser William was a great admirer of Teryn Loghain growing up.  Thus, he made every attempt to try and get Loghain to join the group and asked Anora a lot about her father before the Landsmeet but after the Alienage and his escae from Fort Drakon.  It influenced heavily his decision to spare his life.

+ Ser William has actually pined for Anora for most of his adult life, having met her before.  Anora is thus completely oblivious to his feelings for her when he proposes that she become his bride.  She opened up to this character much more than I ever did.

He broke it off with Leliana, honorably, after they became engaged.

+ Ser William has a great and varied taste towards females in Fereldan; enjoying time with Dwarves and Elves amongst other women.  He's rather annoyed he didn't get a chance to spend any time with a Q'nari lass.  His open mindedness and tolerance, ironically put him at odds with the chantry.

+ Ser William's friendliness to Zevran lead to a very awkward scene where Zevran thought he was romancing him and even offered him his tent.  It took a pair of Daelish gloves and Antivan Leather boots plus lots of gold to repair the rift when William had to reluctantly point out he wasn't interested in men.

+ Ser William hates killing.  He ends up sparing lives whenever possible; Zevran, Avernus, the Blood Mage in the Tower, and even the Tevinter Slaver even though he knows that one is just plain evil.  The violence exites him though, which only adds to his guilt.

Eh, why not. Here's the first character I played all the way through.

Thorin "Kingmaker" Brosca has come a long way from Dust Town, but he never forgets where he came from or what he had to do to survive. While initially somewhat skeptical, he later became a wholehearted convert of the Grey Wardens, and holds his duty toward them just under his duty to his beloved sister.

+ Thorin's hard-earned fighting skills, essential to a young casteless beating off older and stronger dwarves for the remains of a dead nug for the evening's supper, have stood him in good stead. His prowess as a blademaster is quickly becoming legendary on the surface. He whirls, spins, and virtually dances though the battlefield with a lyrium-laced longsword in each hand.

+ Due to the intense poverty of his youth, Thorin indulges in a somewhat extravagant fondness for quality weapons and armor, especially his personal commisions, where he never accepts less than absolute perfection. He has an extremely large collection of trophies and spoils of war gained during his travels, worth thousands of sovereigns.

+ Thorin is a decent-enough person, but he also has a practical streak born in the harsh streets of Dust Town. He rarely allows himself to be swayed by sentiment when it comes to his duty, and he sees it as simply doing what has to be done. He's no stranger to death, and has no qualms about simply cutting his enemies down without a thought.

+ Thorin also has a sympathy for the common folk, due to his origins, and feels a certain kinship with the elves living in human cities. Their situation rings a lot of bells for him, and he'll go out of his way to help them if called for.

+ Thorin has something of a reputation in Ferelden, and some call him Kingmaker, though not to his face. Being personally responsible for the ascension of the monarchs of both Orzammar and Ferelden, as well as instrumental in the ascension of a new, more successful Dalish Keeper for one of the larger clans, has left him with a lot of political clout that he mostly ignores. Except when it's useful.

Oh, all right. Have my default then.

Katris Amell, who constantly protests over the fact that his name sounds like a girl. In his defense, his player was at a loss for names (Daylen wasn't him) and was randomly looking through a phone book.

- Does not differentiate between potion-making, poison-making and his turn to cook. Sees no reason to differentiate, either. If his mabari likes mabari crunches for dinner, Alistair can probably stand to eat Elfroot 'stew'.

- Had a small crush on Wynne when he was a teenager. Anyone who asks about it now is likely to get the Crushing Prison treatment, and he'd be likely to watch and smile politely while their bones break.

- He refuses to wear non-Circle robes. Flat-out REFUSES. This is not due to any particular loyalty to the Circle's rules, he just refuses to wear garter stockings. I think his in-game excuse is that he's allergic to feathers.

- Finds burning/freezing/crushing things all ways to Sunday to be incredibly liberating, and thus found the 'Mages went crazy' part of the Fade sequence more than a little distressing. That could be him. No, that was him, to be exact. Has a bet going with Alistair at one point on whether Dismemberment Tuesday is better than Freezing Your Face Off Friday.

- Considers Circle!sex to be a great expression of freedom and a good middle finger to the templars. Considers OutsideWorld!sex to be somewhat offensive since, well, any hot person in question likely thinks of mages as some kind of monster. This is not a good thought to entertain in bed.

- Personality-wise : Back in the Circle, he was a quiet, soft-spoken, well-mannered geek. Outside, at some point, he cracked under pressure and became something of a snarky, money-grubbing spazz. He still says he's a Libertarian at heart. Don't believe him. The boy is completely a Lucrosian.

- Lastly : if you harm Dog or cause Dog to be sad, you are extremely likely to have several nasty 'natural' phenomena coming your way. Or have your blood boil to death. Take your pick.

Ser Michael Cousland

- He is very mindful of his duty as a Cousland, but is also haunted by the burden of carrying the Cousland name alone, and is delighted no end when it turns out that Fergus is alive.

- He thought Leliana was cute and interesting, but never seemed to find the right words or the right moment. Couldn't quite figure why she makes fun of his journal.

- He wants to see something good in everyone. Is ready to believe anyone who yields and begs forgiveness. Still thinks it was the right thing to pardon Loghain, but suffers ovccasional guilt trips over Alistair's reaction.

- He feels confident in battle and isn't afraid of leading in war, but wish he didn't always had to make all those big political decisions on his own, because he always ends up hurting someone.

- H figured marrying Anora would solve two big problems, securing the Cousland family fortune and being fed up with everyone looking to him for all the big decisions. Not so sure about the last part though.

<-- Cyrus Tabris

+ His real name is actually Cyrius. However, this tended to lead to people often mixing up the names of he and his father (who's name is phonetically only off by one letter), and he didn’t like how it sounded like the word “serious.” So he often shorthanded it to “Cyrus” instead. None of his companions have ever learned his real name.

+ During his time in the alienage, he claimed to earn money by being a dock worker. In truth, he was a thief and cat-burgler, earning his keep by breaking into shem homes and buildings and stealing what he could. Most in the alienage figured as much, but they kept quiet, especially in light of the fact that sometimes a family in financial trouble would find a mysterious bag of silver on their table. Cyrion, however, strongly disapproved, but by the
beginning of Origins had long given up trying to actively dissuade him.

+ The expression in his portrait doesn’t really depict his usual demeanor, which is really more stoic, methodical, and sardonic than anything else. Rather, that’s the expression he will wear when fighting or killing someone he
feels really[/i] deserves it. He was not lying when he told Vaughn: “I’m going to enjoy killing you.”

+ He’s asexual, and has absolutely no interest in pursuing any relationship of a romantic and/or sexual nature. This doesn’t mean he’s naïve or prudish, as he is quite able and willing to make and laugh at jokes of a bawdy nature, he just has no interest in partaking either whatsoever. However, he is utterly clueless whenever people
express any sort of interest in him, being unable to detect when he's being hit on. Needless to say, both Morrigan and Zevran have probably gotten very frustrated with him.

+ Was ultimately convinced to go through the Dark Ritual not through any fear of death, or attempt to please Morrigan, or out of being thrilled at the concept of living as a hero afterwards, but because she told him that “some things are worth preserving in this world.” This brought to mind a previous conversation he had with her (one of the first, actually), where he voiced agreement with this sentiment, knowing full well the loss of his own people’s cultural identity…damn it[/i], she had a point! Even so, to this day, he’s still having second thoughts about it.

Since I'm kinda bored right now, I'll write something about my main.

Ophelia Cousland
Posted Image

- Hardheaded and violent with lots of sarcasm and some dry humor. She does enjoy killing.
- She can't stand the Chantry and the way they spoon-feed everyone their beliefs.
- Is very fair towards people of other races and classes and views them as equals.
- Don't, I repeat don't even think of saying one nice thing about either Howe or Loghain in her presence. She'll claw your eyes out.
- Heavy armor is like a second skin to her. Dresses on the other hand...Posted Image
- Claims to be able to kill in 19 different ways with a spoon.
- Is heavily pissed at the Wardens and how they recruit new members.
- For everyones sake, never ever, ever, ever insult Leliana. Bad things happen. Very bad things indeed. Posted Image
- Ophelia will go to extremes for the people she loves. No matter what those extremes might be.
- Cailan lied. He met her before. Well, he was drunk and she did knock him out for trying his charms on her, so that might explain his bad memory.
- Leliana comes first no matter what. Sorry Alistair, if you're getting crushed by an ogre and Leliana is being surrounded a bunch of darkspawn, you'll have to wait.
- After the end of the blight, she personaly executed evey single one of Howe's men involved in the attack on Highever.
- Just a friendly reminder. DON'T ****** her off.

oh wow, what a fantastic thread.

Since I lost 'Tindl' and have no records or pics of her, I will go with my now main, Aeden Cousland. No idea how to put up pics of him, though, I'm afraid. Skin-head with sideburns, narrow chin, and piercing eyes. You'll have to use your imaginations.

- Loyal to both his mother and father, devastated at having to leave them, but understood that he could best serve them by getting vengeance on Howe for their death. He remembers both their birthdays, and their wedding anniversary, without fail, placing flowers on their graves. He also spends time at the graveside when he feels the need for reassurance. He feels his their presence, guiding him along the right path.

- A terrible ladies man - he even bedded Leliana and Morrigan on the same night. He is charming and attentive, masterful and and proud (can you tell I'm a girl? :P). He has a wink for any pretty girl, and isn't averse to flirting with females in front of whomever he is sleeping with at the time. Morrigan is perfect for him, and he has fallen head over heels in love with her. Leliana fell for him big style, something he wasn't too comfortable with, but given that Morrigan is now unattainable, he is settling for second best. He WILL find Morrigan one day, however. This is his main goal in life, after ensuring the world is free from Darkspawn, ofc. In battles, Aeden automatically checked that Morrigan was ok, often leaving Leliana and Wynne to look after themselves.

- His relationship with Alistair is good. They are firm friends, with Aeden teasing Alistair mercilessly about his naiveness with women, but Alistair learns a lot from Aeden as a result. When Alistair bedded Morrigan (first time! Imagine that!), Aeden provided plenty of tips, to ensure Alistair did not 'let the side down', although he didn't reveal ALL secrets, ofc. A guy's gotta keep some important stuff to himself, after all ;)

- He romanced Anora simply to ensure he had her support in the Landsmeet. His plan to move Alistair to the throne worked like a Dream. Alistair was totally on his side regarding Howe, and not surprisingly, had Loghain slaughtered on the spot. Aeden feels that this is perfect justice for what Howe/Loghain did to his family.

- He was over the moon to find Fergus, the elder brother he hero-worshipped. When Fergus was located, Aeden convinced Queen Anora (as it was still she on the throne at the time) to call a national holiday, and spent the day with Fergus drinking and swapping tales of their adventures. The evening was spent seducing the serving wench from the Pearl, and later on in the arms of Morrigan.

Thanks for this thread :) I love the opportunity to introduce my character to everyone :)

Mine is my profile picture, Aunn Aeducan.
She was fine with the backstabbing politics of Orzammar as they chiefly concerned her fellow nobles who all knew what they were getting into but often refrained from having lesser castes put to death for fear of damaging her reputation (she was considered the nice one of her siblings by the common people).
She considered her, shall we say, reluctance to commit fratricide to be unbearably sentimental and felt she paid for that when Bhelen had her cast out. She was, by turns, both pissed at and proud of him for his little Xanatos Gambit.

She was more understanding of Trian then most people could understand as she knew he was paranoid about her growing popularity and the fact their father didn't make any effort to hide she was the favorite. She was also grateful to him for getting her interested in fighting because he wanted someone to practice with when he first started and Bhelen was too young.

She was in love with Gorim although she knew it couldn't last. Still, she didn't appreciate going from 'I will alway love you' to 'I married the first surface girl I saw, sorry.' She did understand that it was most likely a matter of practicality that he married so quickly as he needed to find a way to survive and marrying into a prominent surface family was the best way to do it. She stopped by to see him whenever she was in Denerim and by the time the Blight ended she felt she was making good progress getting over him.

She considered her father's betrayal to be worse than Bhelen's becase his was three-fold and at least she could see what Bhelen got out of trying to have her killed. The first way her father betrayed her was when he believed she kille Trian. The second way she found out when she found Gorim weeks later and Endrin's note said he never thought she did it but he didn't want to cost their family the throne. The third way was when she finally returned to Orzammar and found out that even though keeping the throne was important enough to exile her it wasn't important enough to look past his suspicions of Bhelen's progressive politics. The fact these betrayals happened in pieces certainly didn't help matters. The first betrayal was understandable and justified, the second was understandable, and the third she has yet to forgive.

She honestly wasn't sure who to support and so went to go see both but since Bhelen couldn't even bother to be civil she ultimately went with Harrowmont, who she did still owe for saving her life by throwing her to the Grey Wardens. She was quite shocked to find out that Bhelen was also jealous of her when he explained that their father hadn't been able to bear living without her (nd quite unsympathetic to her father as he really should have thought of that before exiling her).

She would never dream of romancing a non-dwarf and Alistair's resemblace to Bhelen kind of creeped her out anyway.

She knew Anora would be a stronger ruler from the beginning while Alistair would need to grow into the role but her unbearable sentimentality reared its ugly head again and she talked Anora into agreeing to marry him. She knew that Alistair would never agree to serve with Loghain and risking the King's life so soon was the height of irresponsibility which was a large part of why she spared Loghain. She regretted Alistair felt the need to end their friendship but felt he really needed to grow up and considered herself perfectly justified.

When the Blight ended she couldn't ask for anything BUT aid for her people and when Gorim told her she could return there was never any doubt that she would. She did love Orzammar dearly, after all. She also felt obligated to make up to her House the fact she had wounded it greatly through the crowning of Harrowmont and subsequent killing off anyone remotely important in the coup. She was glad to have Gorim at her side again even if it still hurt for awhile as she wasn't completely over him.

It took her so long to convince Harrowmont to allow the humans into the Deep Roads that they were already camped out in the Frostback Mountains for two days before being allowed to enter. She's made up her mind that since it looks like she can be Queen and a Grey Warden in one lifetime after all she may as well try to succeed Harrowmont and as the only living Paragon, Blight ender, Head of House Aeducan, slayer of most of her political enemies in the coup, in the King's good graces, the daughter of the previous King, and well-loved by the people since people pretty much decided Bhelen killed Trian (they were already halfway there the first time she came back) she feels she's pretty much a shoo-in. And if she doesn't have an heir (like she wanted a pregnancy to spoil her abiliy to fight anyway) that's fine because there's always little Endrin.

<--- Iza Amell.

* She's originally from Redcliffe.  Her mother was a prosititue and her father is First Enchanter Irving unknown.  Her grandparents and her mother were originally from Antiva.  She's a first generation immigrant.

Iza means salvation.

* The first time she did magic, she changed her hair from brown to silver to match her Grandmother's hair.  Her mother, terrified of the change, cut her hair boy-short and tied it up in a rag to hide it.  She's never bothered to change the color since, prefering to keep it silver.

* When her grandmother died, she froze half of Lake Calenhad in the middle of the summer.  The Templars arrived the very next day.  She was five years old.

* She's very practical.  In the Tower, she studied healing and eventually became a spirit healer.  Later on, she became an arcane warrior for purely practical reasons.

* She's bisexual.

* She has a thing for handsome smartasses.  Oh, and curly hair.

* She is extraordinarily obsessive-compulsive.  So much so that most of the corpses looted in her journey as a Grey Warden were because she was double-checking and triple-checking to make sure things were dead-dead, and then noticed they had valuables.

* Because of her OCD nature, she's the wealthiest of any PC character I've made.

* Being OCD, she often had plans, back up plans, plan C's, and the occassional post-apocalyptic plan.  It never hurts to be prepared.  In fact, Iza was so prepared she even had a "just in case I die, Ferelden won't be screwed over" plan, which she promptly followed through.

* She was dumped by the King of Ferelden.  It's okay though: he took it worse than she did.

* She is the only character of mine who has refused the Dark Ritual and gave her life in defense of Ferelden.  I'm sure she's watching from the Fade in horror as Emile Caron, Orlesian Jerkface Extraordinaire, screws up everything she gave her life trying to fix.

This lil' lady here is Abigail "Abby" Aeducan. Princess of Orzzamar and by all means a daddy's little girl. However unlike her brothers she actually cares about her people

- Really had zero interest in becoming the next ruler. She would have happily let Behlen have the throne

- Doesn't mind being a Warden. Feels she can do her duty to her people by finding more about the darkspawn on the surface instead of just mace bashing them in the Deep Roads

- Her dream is not to be a princess or a great warrior but would rather be a scholar and spend the rest of her days translating scrolls and keeping books

- In her backpack is a lot of books. History and law are her favorites

- Has never eaten nug.... and doesn't really want too

- Feels a kinship with Alistair.. both being unwanted by family, and even hating their royal status

- Is fascinated by the mage/templar policies... and here she thought Orzzamar poltics were nerve grinding

- Loves the polar extremes of magic/wit with Morrigan and Wynne

- Named her dog Trian after her fallen brother

- If she had her say, she'd arrest Anora and put Teagan on the Fereldan throne in a heartbeat

When Duncan visited the Tower while on an adventure with King Maric he had a one night stand with a mage girl. Nine months later a babe was born and, like all mage children, was taken away by the Chantry, to be raised by them. It wasnt long until his power manifested and he was sent to the tower.

If any emotion defined his life it is fear. He hated and feared the Templars, and every moment was spent wondering if they were about to arbitrarily decide his time was up.

He channeled those emotions into his magic learning many different ways to destroy things. It was not long before his hatred of the Templars could no longer be contained, and he soon discovered that, while any magical attacks on a Templar would earn him a swift execution, a fistfight between an apprentice and a young Templar would likely be ignored.

He also discovered that punching steel plate did not work out, which is around the time he started to develop healing abilities.

His fights with Templars always ended badly for him, since they were trained combatants wearing platemail. But it wasnt long before his experience started to show, although he never really won he felt as if there was some technique he needed that was always just out of reach.

Adrestia Amell

+ Motor-mouthed mage. She's stubborn and unable to back down from any challenge, no matter how stupid or likely to get her into trouble. Irving sent her away partially because he was convinced that she'd be forcibly Tranquiled by her thirtieth birthday if she survived her Harrowing.

+ Very stuck on first impressions. If she doesn't like you when she first meets you, it's unlikely that she'll ever really get along with you. And she doesn't like you unless you're somewhat awe-inspiring, like Morrigan or Duncan, or if you can make her laugh, like Alistair and Shale. Zevran is the only person she can recall who managed to change her mind.

+ If there's an inappropriate comment to be made, she will make it, and she appreciates a dirty joke. Consequently, she spent most of her time during the Blight with Alistair, Zevran, and Shale.

+ Was the only virgin left in her age group, as she's sort of oblivious about her feelings for the most part.

+ Her feelings on the Wardens evolved during her tenure as an outlaw. Originally she was honoured to become one, and still feels that their general purpose- to save Thedas from the Blight- is a good one and something she adheres to. However, she can't follow the 'at all costs' stakes that other Wardens follow, and her appreciation for the order dropped considerably when Riordan tried to induct Loghain. Had he done so, she would have (tried) to take the treaties and led the army on her own.

+ She's incredibly stubborn.

+ Adrestia enjoys fighting, much more than she originally thought she would. Amoungst neutral parties, she'll avoid bloodshed (made Zathrian end the curse, etc) but if it's a fight they want, it's a fight they'll get, and Adrestia doesn't back down once someone's decided to go after her.

+ She hates politics. After she went to Irving and he threw her and Jowan under the bus, she swore to herself she'd never let someone she cared about down again. This leads to her actually trying to get to know her companions, even when they annoy the hell out of her, like Wynne or Leliana.

+ She mainly traveled with Zevran, Alistair, and Shale. Morrigan had things to ~do~ so Adrestia tended to leave her alone. At first she was thrilled to have Wynne around, until she started prying into her love life, in which case the old mage found herself parked permanently at camp. As a devout heretic, she didn't see eye to eye with Leliana, and after Sten tried to fight for leadership at Haven, she told him to GTFO. At some point, she and Alistair started falling for one another. She and Zevran became best friends, and she came to see Shale as some sort of bizarre, smack-talking guardian angel.

+ If there is a trap somewhere around, she will spring it and get herself caught. No exceptions.

+ Her original plan was to keep Anora on the throne and continue Wardening with Alistair. However, Anora betrayed her at the Landsmeet. Alistair told her that he was willing to take the throne as he could get the armies moving to stop the Blight, and so she kinged him and watched Anora get splattered by her father's blood before Alistair accepted the throne.

+ She took the Dark Ritual because she trusted Morrigan enough to take her word for it, and because ultimately, there is a part of her that was selfish and didn't want to die- she had planned on leaving Alistair behind, as she had made him King, and she loved him and Ferelden too much to chance him dying, or being stupid and sacrificing himself. After the Archdemon died, she took up the post as Chancellor to help him out.

+ She had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, to Vigil's Keep. She wanted to stay in Denerim to keep chancelloring and mistressing with Alistair.

Caleb doesn't remember life before the Circle.

He has never really understood strong emotions. He feels more at ease speaking with the Tranquil than with other mages, though he has no desire to take the Rite of Tranquility. Magic, particularly its forbidden forms, has always fascinated Caleb, and he would never willingly forsake his powers.

He has no interest in physical or emotional intimacy with anyone, and makes his decisions based on what he believes would have the most profitable outcome.

While he does not set out to deliberately cause harm, he lacks sympathy for others, and consequently he does not put the lives or happiness of others above an opportunity to gain profit or power. He would find Avernus' research fascinating, and would see no reason to punish the man for his methods.

Interesting facts about Hazel Cousland

- Is baby-face, is a A-cup and if the game had a height preference, Hazel's height would probably be around 5'0, thus even though she is an 'adult' people mistake her for being a child.

- Her personality is a bit childish, but she has her mature moments which are usually ruined by her 'stunts' like drinking some funny looking drink then learning it was made by 'experiments' on Wardens.

- Loves her Mabari warhound, Krillan.

- Grew up with an unusual love for the Marbari Warhound breed.

- Knows very random facts about random history.

- Is a lover of coats, he favorite coat still is the one that was made for her after she hunted her first bear.

- Never really grew up with other noble girls due to the fact they thought Hazel was wild and gave her the nickname "Cousland Dog" even to this day she is looked down by most of them.

- Oriana was the one who really showed Hazel that she could be both a lady yet also be herself.

- Always will travel with at least five bottles of flask.

- Morrigan and Leliana were the first female friends (that weren't related to her) Hazel has ever had.

- Is still learning to become a leader.....

-Love to dress her up in differant outfits including the Amy Lolita set

Meet Missa Brosca.  The fanfic in my signature pretty much explains her well, but have some random facts:

*Obsessed with the night sky, thinks the stars are pretty.
*Is only capable of stealthing and subtlety if under pressure.
*Allergic to shellfish; finds surface food difficult to eat.
*Doesn't actually like Bhelen, but put him on the throne anyway. And not just for her sister!
*Is bisexual. Never really been in love, and struggles with emotions and "feelings." Sex is like eating to her, and doesn't understand the hangups people have over it.
*Has several tattoos. An arm sleeve, a bronto tramp stamp (she was 16 and seemed like a good idea at the time) a geometric design on her stomach and dwarven runes on her right shoulder. When the whole messy business of the archdemon was over with she added stars to her arm sleeve.
*Got on well with Morrigan, Alistair and Zevran the best out of all the companions.
*Hates her Mother. So much. So very, very much. Incapable of forgiving her for just about anything.
*Will never return to Orzammar, and is bitter about the caste system.
*Didn't actually like Leske that much, but knocked around with him out of habit.
*Never named her mabari. He will always be "Dog," or "You!"
*Despises all religion.
*Never stuck around for Amaranthine. Went to Antiva instead. To help a friend, you understand... None of this love business, obviously.

What a fun thread to read through! DAO is pretty exceptional in that every unique character brings the story to life in a different way. So cool.

<-- Kijstyn Cousland

Growing up, Kijstyn rarely got into trouble with her superiors, because it made her terribly unhappy to disappoint people.

She was educated beside her brother, the next Teyrn of Highever, and found that she was very interested history and politics and philosophy. She could also beat her brother at swordplay, which was extremely satisfying.

Because she was not going to lead Highever, she assumed that she would be forced to enter a political marriage eventually. She wasn't looking forward to that. She wanted to be a hero, like in the stories.

Between her family's massacre and Ostagar, she learned quickly that living the stories isn't glamorous.

She believes most of what the Chantry says, but prefers Leliana's version of the Maker.

She loves listening to Leliana's stories, especially anything that has to do with Andraste. She felt really bad when apparently she had been sending Leliana mixed signals. oops :P

She doesn't get along with many mages because she sees the Circle and the Templars as a necessary evil.

She enjoyed talking to Sten about his culture and generally discussing philosophy with him.

She adored Alistair because he was living proof that gentlemen heroes do exist outside of the stories.

Generally, she prioritizes her duty to Ferelden over her duty to the Wardens.

The more time she spent as a Warden, the more she came to accept that life isn't a story, that doing what feels good isn't necessarily what is right for people. That doing the right thing can be hard. And that making a correct decision can cost as many lives as making a wrong one.

You might say her personality was hardened at some point. If I had to pick a point, I'd say it was when she met Helspith and learned about the Broodmother.

She and Alistair started to drift apart at that point. He reminded her of the stories she no longer believed in.
She and Morrigan actually started growing closer, because Morrigan's survivalist view seemed more sensible and less cruel than it had seemed before. She even went so far as to trust Morrigan to practice blood magic, which she had been adamantly against before.

The Landsmeet was a crisis point for Alistair and her. She found that she sympathized with Loghain and could not bring herself to execute him. Her original plan had been to help Alistair gain the throne and perhaps get married and help him rule. But her view of the world had changed. Instead, she let Anora take the throne, but she didn't allow Anora to execute Alistair because she did still care about him. She held out hope to the bitter end that Alistair would be there to help fight the Archdemon...

She agreed to the dark ritual because she didn't want any Warden to die if it wasn't required, and she had come to trust that Morrigan, though perhaps not entirely honest, was not evil, and was strong enough to handle whatever power she was taking on.

Upon taking Loghain into the group, and trying to get to know him better, she finds that she actually *likes* him. He has no illusions about horror and cruelty in the world, and she finds that it's easier to talk to him about making tough choices. And the signals she starts sending him, even Leliana could not claim are mixed. ....

Named his dog Max.

Was in awe when he met Duncan.

Never really got along with Alistair.

Found Isolde to be quite interesting.

Until he sacrificed her.

Wanted to start a relationship with Morrigan...... until he fell hard in love with Leliana.

Is a terrible romantic.

Is a warrior, brave and true.

Became BFF's with Shale.

Wynne basically took over as his mom. Eventually she even approved of his relationship with Leliana.

Destroyed the anvil

Saved the Werewolves.

Put Harrowmont on the throne.

Became friends with Sten

Made Alistair king and a daddy.

Was friendly to all races.

Is so upset over sacrificing Isolde that he will always do the right thing now.

Traveled to Sten's home with Leliana and Zevran before returning to become the commander of the grey.

*Learned at a young age that a pretty face can get you far, but skill with blades gets you respect.

*Almost never cries.

*Always excelled at diplomacy. She could get along with just about anyone and she looks for the solution that benefits the most parties.

*Secretly resented that the daughter of a commoner was betrothed to the king instead of her, though she does greatly respect the Queen after seeing her politcal acumen.

*Is a royalist.

*Loves the color blue.

*Believes in duty above all else.

*Never lets her emotions cloud her judgement, except for once.

*Cried once for her family.

*Used Leliana and Zevren for "comfort" after the loss of her family.

*Fell in love with Alistair despite herself.

*Put Belehen on the throne even though she fully believed him to be a kinslayer.

*Saw it as her duty to convince Alistair to become a suitable king to continue the Therein line.

*Totally talked him into the threesome with Isabella.

*Initially lied when told Anora that she and Alistair should be married in order to get the queen's support at the Landsmeet. Arianna completely intended to become queen.

*Saw the value in sparing Loghain, but found herself unable to do so when she saw Alistair's reaction.

*Put forth Alistair & Anora as monarchs when she realized that Alistair clouds her judgement.

*Totally stayed Alistair's mistress.

*Cried when Alistair did the DR with Morrigan. Not because she was upset that Alistair with with someone else, but because she knew at that moment she had fundimentally changed a very innocent man when he was willing to father a bastard child.

*Stayed with the Grey Wardens because she made a vow.

Ready for the characterization-overkill?

Then meet Lenya Mahariel:

Posted Image

She values very much who she is, and is proud to be Dalish...NEVER EVER call her an elf. Unless you want a knife on your throat, that's it.

Despite this, she always struggled to stay awake when Hahren Paivel told her stories of their people. She thinks he could make it more interesting at least, and rather read the story of her people for herself than to listen to him prattling.

Within her clan she was a troublemaker, a rebel who lived with the motto "rules are there to break" because she wanted that no one gets the idea to make her the next apprentice/keeper.

Her clan wanted her to train "the way of the bow" and that she becomes an archer, but she found that boring and was more fascinated of swords and daggers.

As she held the first dagger in her hand she was four years old. Where other children played hide and seek, she played with blades and trained.

The best present you can make her is a new, shiny sword.

She loves Ashalle dearly, but gets easily annoyed of her motherly side/finds that embarrassing.

She often played tricks on the elder, just to hear them exclaim in annoyance. Tamlen was her partner in crime and often covered her up.

Because of it she had to polish armor in Master Ilen's shop for one week once.

Tamlen is her best friend, but the thoughts of the elder to make him his bondmate churned her stomach. For her it would be like to marry a brother.

The other male elves were always too intimidated to make a move at the daughter of the keeper. And if one dared, she either laughed him off or was painfully oblivious. Her interest in romance was always underdeveloped anyway.

She loves her freedom and can't stand women who depend of a man to care for them.

She often left camp to wander around, enjoying the silence and the peaceful environment of nature.

She grew up learning to hate humans but since she got to know three years ago how her parents died, her hate had become really, really personal. More so City elves who are a disgrace to her kin in her eyes.

She loves to hunt, the game to run after the prey and then to catch it in the end. She also enjoys killing darkspawn, because in her eyes those bastards are responsible for her misery.

That is the main reason she is willing to do this suicide of a mission. She doesn't want those filthy creatures to win in the end.

She bit Duncan in the arms as she tried to escape from him to ran after her clan.

She is very practical thinking, if there is nothing to gain for her when helping someone, she won't.

Patience has never been her virtue.

She has a very sarcastic, dry humor --often delivered with a deadpanned expression.

Alistair soon became her best snark buddy...though she rather snarked against him than with him.

She hates lies. Never lie to her. It is a break of trust for her....and you don't want to see her pissed. Believe me.

Since she has lost Tamlen she has issues to trust anyone, and suffers from heavy survivor guilt.

She hides her feelings behind a mask, in that way she wants to hinder anyone to be able to use her emotions against her.

She has a quirky side, gets excited over the little things in life and can genuinely enjoy them.

She only shows this side of her, if she feels comfortable enough with the people around her.

If you are able to gain her trust, you have it forever. Though this is hard, hard to achieve.

She is very passionate, emotional and devoted. For the people she loves, she would do anything – wander to the black city itself, if needed.

She is fascinated of magic and ask Morrigan sometimes if she can't flame a bush or something – just for amusement.

She feels a bond with Morrigan because the witch also lived away from the shem's world; in the nature.

Leliana's talk about shoes and hair freaked her out. She didn't see the sense in talking about such things. Shoes are shoes and hair is hair.

She gave Alistair the nickname 'puppy' because he was/is following her around like one in Ostagar. She hates how his 'sad puppy eyes' (:crying:) look is able to manipulate her, though.

It is hard for her to admit that she feels comfortable around Alistair, because he is a human.

She slays darkspawn, dragons, ogres without to blink, but if a cat crosses her way she freaks out.

During their journey, she had developed an unholy love for cookies and cake, since she's snatched one of Sten's cookies.

She knows hundreds of herbal plants and can easily distinguish them from each other. She had secretly a herb garden back at her clan. Though she can't cook for the sake of her life.

------------------------------

Well, I write a FF with her, so hence such many, many details.  B)
