Not looking for any spoiler material here and I especially

DO NOT WANT ANY SPOILERS ABOUT DWARF NOBLE ORIGIN RETURNING HOME

however I felt this was the best forum to ask the question in.

I have a dwarf noble rogue fairly early in the game - he has completed only Lothering, WK, and RTO so far and is about to complete the Shale DLC.

I am toying with the idea of taking him directly to Orzamar once that is done mostly for RP reasons. The party would most likely be PC (DW rogue), Morrigan, Shale, and either Alistair or Sten who would likely be replaced by Ohgren.

The PC is probably going to be level 9, Morrigan might be level 10 and I'm not sure about Shale or Ohgrens level.

I play on hard mostly but will occasionally drop back to normal if a battle becomes a reload fest and have no problem with that as long as it's only the occasional battle. I would  not want to see the whole Deep Roads area become a reload fest - altho I suppose dropping back to normal to make it doable at these levels would not be the end of life as I currently know it...Posted Image

Anyway all I really want to know is whether folks think my plan to head there at these levels is doable or mostly suicidal?

REMEMBER NO SPOILERS ABOUT DWARF NOBLE ORIGIN RETURNING HOME AT ALL! Posted Image

If it's for RP reasons then everyone says that the events of both dwarf origins took place about a year before you return (that's not really a spoiler) so going back too soon doesn't make sense on that front. You might want to do a short quest like the Circle first to level up some. Orzammar is long with plenty of fights.

I think it's doable. I tend to go to Orzammar right after Lothering and do all the quests until I get Oghren to join the party. It's difficult at this early point, but once I acquire Oghren, I leave and do DLCs like RtO, WK, maybe a few Denerim quests until I feel my party is bulked up somewhat and I have enough potions to stick it out in the Deep Roads for the long haul.

The reason why I do it this way is because I like having Oghren in my party and this allows me to hear everything he has to say. You can't actually talk to him in camp until you finish a Paragon of Her Kind, but that doesn't stop him from making comments in cutscenes. ;)

It can be done directly after Lothering, though it's fairly difficult unless you really know what you're doing. The Deep Roads are not for the low-level and unpreparred. I definitely wouldn't go there first for my first playthrough. My advice is to do the Circle Tower quest first (with Archivist's Sash equpped), for the free stat boosts and enough XP to get you a little higher and into the intended level range for Orzammar.

I went to Orz before right after Lothering in a Fighter playthrough so would say it's doable whenever you feel it feels right to head that way. Some of the fights can be tougher as a lowbie, but you get a lot of killing and swag in, plus a chance to make massive amounts of gold right at the start of the game.

It's doable at level 7, it's what I did my first playthrough. The recommended level is 12 I think.

And that is why I hate those bounty hunters. My poorly built and equipped mage/Sten/Leliana/Morrigan died so many times.

Simply trying to get past those bounty hunters will force you to dial it normal or casual even.

Protip: Take out the mage first, then go for the melee dudes. I also found that Dog is a great help in this fight. Or, as an alternative, they don't actually turn hostile until you get right up on them, so have a mage shoot off a fireball or AoE spell before you hit them.

I went through it first in one playthrough, at level 8 I started. A bit difficult, but not impossible.

Yes it's possible, but I'd do the Circle first. And as Sarah says, makes more sense not to go right away as certain events that have occurred since you left would take quite a while.

I went there first with my dwarven noble and it is doable; however, I wouldn't recommend it.

There's lots of loot there and you'll get lower level items if you open up the area at a lower level. Also, if I hadn't re-speced Morrigan with some healing abilities, it would have been very difficult to get through all the fights. I probably would have had to go back to Orzammar in the middle of the Branka quest to pick up potions without a healing mage.

Oh, God, when I went there immediately as a DN there was a door I needed to open but I couldn't do it until I got the third lock-picking skill, which was level twelve so I had to leave and hang around Denerim for awhile untill I reached level twelve.

I always do it first so level 8 or 9 is reasonable (by the end assuming you finish all side quests you might hit 12 or 13)

Also doing Orzammar first for RP reasons does make sense regardless of which Dwarf Origin you choose you could always RP that after X time traveling with the Wardens the GW longed for the lush atmosphere of their home

Well I started Orzamar after getting Shale - party going in was Shale, Morrigan & Sten - PC is dwarf Noble rogue/assasin DW.

Playing on hard so far I had only one reload (with the bounty hunters) altho at the final proving I only had Shale left standing at the end to finish off the last two foes.

PC & Sten are about to hit level 10 - Morrigan & Shale are halfway to 11 and we are about to go see Jarvia. So far so good...

One thing about Orzammar is that the main quest is actually several linear mini quests. If you're having difficulty with one chunk of the main quest, it is entirely possible to go and complete some other stuff first.

You can even justify it in rpg terms. "Jarvia keeps handing us our behinds. Having a mage could really even the odds up. If we go to the Tower of Mages, we might be able to recruit one." That would also enable you to do Dagna and the Precious Metals quests if you so desire.

That's my typical RP justification for leaving Orzamar mid-stream.

I don't know about level, but I don't go there before visiting the Elvish camp to have access to elfroot and I usually do Redcliffe, and therefore the Mage's circle, first in the game. Alistair's dialogue that comes out of it makes more sense if it occurs early on. And, since it would seem odd to me to leave Eamon in a near death state to go off and do something else, I do the Urn quest next. So Orzammar almost always gets done last.

The map influences my choice, too. I would have trouble rationalizing walking right past Redcliffe and/or the circle tower to get to Orzammar.

I always do the Circle first so I can get Wynne, and some experience. Then I do the Redcliffe quests, and finally go to Orzammar. I like to have as many npcs as possible before going there, because each one adds something to the gameplay and dialogue, so I take different ones each time I play through the game.

I have about a dozen PCs in various stages of DA:O with only one who completed it and moved on to Awakenings (where he is currently sitting at perhaps the halfway point waiting for a few more origins characters to finish and enter Awakenings before I decide who will finish it first).

One issue I have had is almost of all my origins characters have started off in basicly the same manner going to Redcliff first - then the Circle and of course then the Urn - usually after doing some or all of the DLC stuff like WK and possibly Shale along the way and now RTO is added to the list since it's release.

This has also meant most of them had the same sort of party make up early as well which was making them seem much too similar for my taste in spite of some differences in how they approached and/or solved some of the quests or some variance in party make up based on the PC class choice and how I chose to RP them attitude wise.

So now I am trying to mix things up a bit more once I get past the set in stone "prologue" of Origin + Ostagar + Lothering in hopes of enhancing the replay value and keep things interesting which is of course what led me to go to Orzammar right after Lothering with this PC.

I have a female dwarf warrior about ready to enter the Deep Roads. I am level 9 but am thinking to make a detour to get lyrium dust for potions so that will mean I do that area before I finish Orzammar. I didn't know about the time involved but felt it would be in character to go to Orzammar first. I started to work with Harrowmont first to teach Bhelen a lesson but Zevram talked me out of it. lol I had hoped to have some more personal convo with my *brother*. I think he would be shocked at my thank you. My character never wanted to be some queen type-- just wanted to fight darkspawn. I don't think Bhelen would believe me anyway.

I never let Zevran talk me out of supporting Harrowmont when I'm playing a DN. No one's arguing that Harrowmont is stronger (ask him and he even says he's not looking to be a strong king but a just one) and since my DN wasn't sure if she wanted to be Queen but has since decided since her exile that she does, it's easier to accomplish with Harrowmont.

I'm thinking this character may end up doing the ultimate sacrifice. I've never played that. I just never had one I thought it was appropriate for. She was very attached to Gorim and did not take kindly to him marrying in the short while they were apart. I say short to her.. She went right direct to Denerim to seek him out like he said. :) So at the moment she is purty bitter at men and their ways. She thought to find Gorim to get some *grownup* help on this journey she had undertaken and simply cannot understand how Duncan could have thought Allistair actually had the makings of a Grey Warden.

Duncan's really not picky. If you can fight and you've got nowhere else to go, you can be a Warden. Jory is a bit of an oddity. Maybe political pressure?

I know I was pissed about Gorim, too, but dying over it seemed a little extreme. I mean, I've done the ending but only to see how it plays out. Seeing Alistair/Anora addres Gorim as "Gorim of House Aeducan" at the end was really jarring as I had no idea how that even happened without talking to him post-coronation. Then again, I've never really had a character that it felt riht for, either. Although I did have one willing to feed Loghain to the Archdemon...

Well, I'll see how it plays out. Things really tend to change along the way with this game. lol I think I've finished something like 5 players and the game had a different feel each time. My first one was the silly elf mage in my photo who got dumped by Allistair after the landsmeet. I knew it wasn't going to last but dang if the game didn't outsmart me and catch me totally unexpected. lol Make a man king and his first act is to dump your ass. I refrained from feeding him to the archdemon but it was a close call.
